Guest Post: Andrew Q Gordon

The Eye And the Arm; by Andrew Q.
Gordon

Champion of the Gods: Book Two

DSP Publications

Length: 99,775 words/296 Pages

Release Date: April 14, 2015

BLURB:

The Eye And The ArmAfter
defeating Meglar at Belsport, Farrell returns to Haven to recover from his
injuries, but Khron, the god of war, has other ideas. He gives Farrell a new
mission: free the survivors of the ancient dwarf realm of Trellham from their
three-thousand-year banishment. To fulfill Khron’s near impossible task, Farrell
will need the help of his distance ancestor, the legendary wizard Kel. But Kel
has been dead for a thousand years.

Farrell finds
information hinting that Kel is alive, so he moves his search to Dumbarten,
Kel’s birthplace. To reach Dumbarten unannounced, Farrell and Miceral disguise
themselves as mercenaries on board a merchant vessel. Their journey is
disrupted when pirates attack their ship. While attempting to subdue the
attack, Farrell is struck down by one of Meglar’s minions.

Unconscious
and trapped in his own mind, Farrell’s only chance for survival rests with
Miceral and the peregrine king Rothdin entering his thoughts and helping him
sort fact from illusion. To reach Farrell, they will need to rely on an
untested spell from one of Kel’s spellbooks. If they succeed, Miceral can guide
Farrell home safely. If not, Farrell will destroy not only himself, but
Miceral, Rothdin, and everyone around him.

EXCERPT

“Relax,
my friend.”
Klissmor’s presence calmed Miceral’s growing
anxiety. “You won’t feel my presence.”

Miceral took a deep breath. “Will I be able to hear?”

“Every
word. Ready?”

“No,
but let’s do it.”
He took a deep breath and closed his eyes.

“I need
your eyes open for everyone to see.”

He snapped his lids open, blinking several times
before could focus again. “Sorry.”

“Master
Teberus.”
Miceral knew the words came from him, but as
promised, he didn’t feel anything. “I
have Masters Erstad and Wesfazial as well as Wizard-Priestess Glendora. Ask
your questions to Miceral and we four will also hear you.”

“Astounding.” The
elder Arlefor glanced at the high priestess. “All four at once?”

“Wizard.” Miceral
had heard that tone enough to know Klissmor’s mood. “Maintaining this link, this far away with this many minds, is a
strain. If we are to save Farrell, you must focus on him.”

“Of
course. My apologies.”
Teberus bowed deeply. “My examination of the one who did this to Farrell confirmed that he is
no wizard.”

“Then
how in the eight gates of Neblor did that man defeat Farrell?”
Even
though Teberus couldn’t know, Miceral recognized the voice as Wesfazial’s.

“The
obvious answer is the correct one. A wizard gave this man the weapon.”

“But
Farrell could defeat all four of us and all the other wizards you brought with
you and not be tested.”
Erstad’s steady temperament sounded tested. “No weapon used by a nonwizard should be
capable of this.”

Teberus raised the crest of his hairless
eyebrow. “But since that is what
happened, we must use it as the basis of our search for a cure.”

No one answered. As the silence dragged on,
Miceral’s anxiety slowly returned. If Haven’s senior wizards didn’t know what
to do, who could?

“Tell
us what happened.”
Erstad’s request almost didn’t register with
Miceral.

“No,”
Klissmor said. “Show them. Let them see
the memory.”

Miceral closed his eyes and focused on reliving
the attack. The clarity of the image caused his chest to tighten, making it
hard to breathe. He knew the result, but watching it again, almost in slow
motion, added to his agony.

When the image played over again, he realized
Klissmor must have been guiding his thoughts.

“My
apologies, old friend—the need is great.”

Klissmor’s voice didn’t interrupt the stream of images.

“Do
whatever you need. Just find a way to save Farrell.”

“Your
friends are doing all they can. Have faith that Lenore will send us what we
need.”

When the memory started for the third time, he
didn’t find any comfort in Klissmor’s assertion. The Six
wouldn’t—couldn’t—help. He needed something that didn’t exist—a great wizard
like Heminaltose or Kel.

“In
theory, I recognize the magic.”
Erstad sounded confused. “But I’ll need to find a reference to be
sure.”

“What
about Farrell?”
He knew he shouted, or at least what Farrell
told him passed for shouting, but he couldn’t prevent it. “He could be dead before you find that.”

“It
can’t be helped, Miceral. I need to be sure before I suggest a counterspell. If
I’m wrong, whatever I try might kill him.”

“He is
in no immediate danger.”
Teberus put his hand on
Farrell’s forehead. “But my fear is the
number of spells that draw on him for power. I can only give him but so much.
If he doesn’t wake, his body will burn out.”

“Do
what you can, Master Teberus. We’ll begin searching immediately and contact you
when we find the answer.”
When Erstad stopped speaking,
Klissmor’s presence left with him.

“Hurry.
Please.”
Miceral knew no one heard him.

Blurb:

Sergeant Liam Jacks is the security chief of
transport vessel, The Santa Claus. He travels the planetary cluster with Marc
Danverse, his best friend and captain, seeking to escape his tortured past and
find some peace of mind.

Having been through a civil war together,
Danverse and Liam are close. Maybe too close…. All that changes when mysterious stranger,
Hadrian Jamison, an escaped Adonirati, books passage to Alpha Centauri. Can he
be trusted? Can the stories of his past be believed? As Liam’s fascination with Hadrian grows,
jealousy threatens to tear apart his friendship with Danverse.

When Hadrian’s owner shows up, Liam is forced
to go against orders in order to launch a rescue mission to save him.

The ensuing conflict may
be more than any of them expected.

Excerpt:

“Liam, are we going to be all right?” Danverse
hadn’t stopped fidgeting since he returned to the dock. The air of unease was
so out of character for the captain; Liam didn’t like it. Danverse not being in
charge would upset the sense of order to his universe.

Liam sighed. “Yeah. We’ll be fine. I’m just a
little embarrassed by it all. I wish I could find a better way to bury the
past.”

“You will. And you let me know if you need help
with anything.” Liam snorted. “Pervert.” “Not just that.” Danverse laughed. “I
mean with anything you need.” “I know.” It felt like the first time he’d smiled
in days.

Soon after that the first passenger came
aboard. Dr. Davis Cellus was a professor in his fifties who had been on
sabbatical and would be heading back to his regular life. He was heavyset, with
a thin goatee and shaved head, dressed in comfortable clothing that spoke of a
meager wage, but his manner indicated a modest lifestyle. Liam was convinced
his accounts were heavier than he let on.

They turned the second passenger away. Clearly
she had ignored the “No Hetero, No Female” rule. She had to be escorted off by
station security when she started arguing.

Danverse maintained that Mrs. Claus insisted
she would be the only female on the ship. Liam knew better.

Danverse hadn’t always placed such restrictions
on passengers, but the ship wasn’t designed with separate facilities. Privacy
wasn’t a focus on a military vessel and he didn’t want to spend the currency on
making the changes. Voyages lasting easily six or more weeks at a time became
tedious with complaints from hetero passengers unhappy about walking in on crew
members having sex in the shower room or other areas. Danverse had no interest
in changing the men’s habits. Non-hetero passengers complained less or joined
in. Since they didn’t have passengers on every trip, removing orientation and
gender issues made the whole process a lot easier. The captain liked it that
way.

Marley Keyes was next. He was a rough-looking
man with a medium build heading for a new job opportunity on Alpha Centauri. He
seemed uncomfortable and maintained an iron grip on the satchel strapped around
his shoulder. Marley claimed to have never been off planet before. Liam was
suspicious of the twitchy man, but the background check came up clean, so
another passenger joined the ship.

The boarding period was almost over before the
last person on the manifest appeared. Liam had to remind himself not to stare.
It was the hooded man from the café.

“I am Hadrian Jamison. I should have a
reservation for passage to Alpha Centauri. I hope I am in the right place.” The
man’s rich voice bore a subtle accent. Liam checked his list and scanned the
man’s hand. He seemed hesitant to be registered. Liam gave the data a cursory
glance and then turned the pad off. Danverse threw a questioning look in his
direction.

“I’m Captain Marc Danverse.” He shook Hadrian’s
hand. “And this is my security chief, Sergeant Liam Jacks.” As Hadrian turned
and traded greetings, Liam got his first proper look at the hooded man. Hadrian
was above average in size, just a little shorter than Danverse. His hand was
veined and strong. He sported wild, long, dark hair and dark facial stubble
over an olive complexion, and had the most entrancing eyes Liam had ever looked
into. Thick dark eyelashes outlined the white in stark contrast to ice-blue
irises ringed in sapphire. It was otherworldly, and he was gorgeous. Liam found
a heat rising in his chest as those beautiful eyes looked up at him through the
locks of hair falling haphazardly over his face.

“Do you have any other belongings to load?”
Danverse asked, glancing at where Liam’s and Hadrian’s hands were still
touching.

“No, thank you. The bag I am carrying is all I
need,” Hadrian said, nodding to the pack slung over his shoulder. He hesitantly
removed his hand from Liam’s.

“Then I can show you to your quarters,” Liam
offered. With one outstretched hand and the other lightly at Hadrian’s back, he
directed the last passenger up the steps. He noticed Danverse watching them
with a cocked eyebrow as they passed. His mouth was slightly open but he didn’t
say a word as they stepped on board. What the hell was that odd look about?

Bio:

Like many gay men, when MANN RAMBLINGS grew up,
there weren’t any heroes he could relate to. The world held him back while he
tried futilely to hide the real person inside. So much has changed since those
hollow days. He finally found his voice, the voice that says it’s all right to
revel in the so-called inappropriate joys, laughs, and loves that storm inside
a man’s head. It took a long time to find that courage and now that it’s here,
he plans to use it well.

While spending years more focused on visual
arts, he never let go of his innate passion for storytelling—he wanted to write
and draw comic books when he grew up. Once he discovered M/M fiction, a whole
new world opened with new possibilities. Why couldn’t you have fantastic and
dynamic tales with an M/M cast? He started reading the online tales of authors
like, Night Tempest, Rob Colton, and Alicia Nordwell, which only fueled within
him the need to create. Eventually he found GayAuthors.org, and with a little
coercive nudge from Night Tempest, started sharing his tales with an unexpected
level of positive response. That experience and support gave him the courage to
cross his fingers and aim for the world of M/M publishing.

Born and raised in Michigan, Mann Ramblings
continues to type away, wishing it was practical to use a noisy, old fashioned
keyboard that clacks with each strike, if only to annoy his loving partner and
spoiled miniature dachshund.

Guest Post: Jon Keys

Hi Rob! Thanks for
letting me visit! Razor was released by Decadent Publishing on Feb 6th.
It’s my first urban fantasy and I’m very excited. It’s part of Decadent
Publishing’s Beyond Fairytales collection. Razor is a retelling of The Little
Folk from Brother’s Grimm. Yeah, I’d never heard of it either. LOL. I hope
everyone enjoys Razor as much as I did.

blurb

When the world crashes down around your ears, sometimes all
you can do is punt and hope for the best. That’s exactly what James and Micah
decide to do when one of them is diagnosed with cancer, and the other discovers
a serious heart defect. When the doctor tells them to start working on their
bucket lists, the two take a trip in an effort to create some good memories,
and forget the ugly truths, while they focus on their time in each other’s
arms.

Their vacation turns into much more than they anticipated
when they find themselves drawn to a club like sailors to a siren. Several sexy
waiters, some unforgettable lap dances, and one whip-wielding stud later, they
stumble upon the answer to their prayers. Their sex is wild again, and the pair
find themselves living for tomorrow. But with every answer comes questions, and
Micah’s search for more may destroy them both.

Will they be able to recover from his thirst for the truth?
Or will the men always live walking on the edge of a Razor?

Excerpt from Razor.

Micah made the landing and stood
watching James ascend. A few seconds later, he reached the top and looked
around. They found themselves outside a door almost as dark as the night, set
into a wall of Cimmerian brick that disappeared into the gloom on either side.
The doorman standing beside it was equally striking. He stood taller than
James’s six feet, and wore only a black leather kilt and heavy boots that
seemed to consume the lower part of his muscular legs. No one would dare
challenge the man. His torso rippled in ways James had never seen before. His
face was rugged, covered with a few days’ scruff trimmed precisely along his
jawline. Before he could think of what they should do, the doorman spoke.

“Welcome to Razor. What’s your
pleasure tonight?”

James stood speechless as the deep
bass of the man’s voice resonated through the night. “The music. The music is
wonderful. We caught it from a few blocks off and wanted to hear more.”

A smile emerged on the man’s
face and changed him from executioner to guardian. “Of course, the music.
You’ve found the right place. Just in time, too. Tonight is drawing to a
close.”

He grasped the bronze door pull
that was easily as long and thick as James’s forearm and opened the massive
door with little apparent effort. He motioned them into the portal with a wave.
“Go. Enjoy yourself.”

The pair moved toward the
opening and peered inside. The room was dim, except for an empty stage bathed
in warm light. James noticed the musical trio creating the instrumentals that
had lured them through the foggy night. They glanced back to the grinning
bouncer who encouraged them forward with a nod.

They stepped into the room and
paused to take it in. From the elaborately carved dark mahogany bar lined with
every imaginable type of liqueur, to the lovingly worn floor that had seen
thousands of pairs of feet during its existence, it was all club. The couple
moved inside as the door closed behind them with scarcely a whisper.

As they studied the room, two
things struck James. First, they were the only customers. Second, everyone else
in the room wore very little and were male. Their smiling waiter stepped to
their table. James swallowed hard as he looked at the man standing before him.
He dressed in the same boots as the bouncer, which were buckled to just below
his knees. The remainder of the waiter’s clothing consisted of a black leather
jockstrap filled to capacity.

Bio:

Jon Keys’ earliest memories revolve around books; with the
first ones he can recall reading himself being “The Warlord of Mars” and
anything with Tarzan. (The local library wasn’t particularly up to date.) But
as puberty set in he started sneaking his mother’s romance magazines and added
the world of romance and erotica to his mix of science fiction, fantasy, and
comic books.

A voracious reader for almost half a century, Jon has only
recently begun creating his own flights of fiction for the entertainment of
others. Born in the Southwest and now living in the Midwest, Jon has worked as
a ranch hand, teacher, computer tech, roughneck, designer, retail clerk,
welder, artist, and, yes, pool boy; with interests ranging from kayaking and
hunting to painting and cooking, he draws from a wide range of life experiences
to create written works that draw the reader in and wrap them in a good story.

Blurb:

A bratty angel…

FirstPatrick is accosted by a hellhound with a yen for fries and ketchup. Then heencounters a beautiful, but bratty angel who doesn’t seem to understand the
concept of ‘no’… or personal space. Not to mention he demands Patrick pleasure
him, which Patrick refuses to do. So why does Patrick feel a connection to this
unruly seraphim? And why can’t he forget him?

Two
weeks later, the brat is back, making more demands. But Patrick makes it clear
he doesn’t do demands. That should be the end of it, right? Or not… Maybe
there’s more to this bratty angel than meets the eye. If Patrick has the
patience to get past his bratty ways.

Excerpt:

Patrick rounded the corner fast, almost too
fast. He barely kept his balance, groaning when his left knee twisted,
reminding him that his ability to outrun anyone or anything had taken a turn
for the worse. If that damn thing he’d only snatched a brief glimpse of got
him, he’d be mauled and killed.

The huge, nightmarish thing panted as it
chased after him, gusts of his surprisingly clean-smelling breath wafting to
him. As Patrick raced through the deserted streets—because who the hell took a
shortcut at this time of the night—he searched for a hiding spot. A fire ladder
would work too, or whatever. Anything really, so he could put a safe distance
between himself and the grotesque creature. He could have avoided all of this
but, damn him, he’d indulged in his human body’s desire for junk food. Next
time he was going to order his food in—if he lived long enough.

Patrick’s lungs burned, and his leg muscles
screamed bloody murder at him. Fuck the universe for rendering him incapable of
flying. He’d been trapped in this human body for twenty-three years already,
and no one would ever think he’d once been strong and—best not to go there.
Nothing good ever came of his memories.

Patrick stumbled, and a hot gust of air tickled
his neck. He plunged face forward to the ground, all air rushing out in one
short pained gasp. Reflexively he put his hands behind his head to protect his
vulnerable neck.

The freaking thing growled and yanked at the bag containing
Patrick’s junk food. Patrick yelped when the bag tore open, spilling its
contents all over.

Curled up on the ground, Patrick peeked over
his shoulder when a chuckle drew his attention. Someone hunkered down next to
him before gentle fingers pried the last string of the bag from his hand.
Patrick gritted his teeth, wishing he was in possession of his power instead of
lying there, almost whimpering in fear.

“Don’t worry, he’s not malicious. He just wants
your fries,” a soft, melodious voice informed him. The fries-loving beast
growled, sending goose bumps up Patrick’s spine. The voice added, “Right. He
wants your fries and your ketchup. You see, the ketchup is majorly
important.”

The person who’d spoken to him withdrew, and
the creature’s paws clicked on the ground as it followed the voice. Whoever it
was rustled the wraps of his food and talked soothingly to the yipping beast.
Carefully and slowly, Patrick turned on his side to take a look. His heart
thumped painfully hard against his ribcage, almost causing it to burst.

In the corner of the badly lit alley crouched
something that seemed to be a mix between a large dog and a wolf, but the size
of a pony. That wasn’t even the strangest characteristic of the beast. No, the
strangest characteristic was the dark brown, folded wings on the beast’s back.
That couldn’t be!

Patrick’s gaze traveled to the hands that
dumped his fries on the torn bag, generously spreading ketchup all over them.
The beast licked the hand in a grateful gesture before it dug into the food.

Patrick’s breath caught when he observed the
naked man who knelt next to the creature. The man’s face was beautiful, no
doubt about that. Patrick’s gaze slid along a slender throat, finely toned
shoulders, and a slight frame. A white, feathery wing
covered the man’s crotch.

An
angel.

Upcoming Releases

I wanted to post a quick update on my upcoming release schedule.

Wayward Ink Publishing will be doing a staggered release of all the short stories in the “Stranded” Anthology in separate ebook editions. My short, “The Buckle,” is slated for a February release.

"The Cassini Mission," Book 2 of the Galactic Conspiracies series, is currently being translated into French. I’ll share more details as they become available!

The Degan Paradox: Galactic Conspiracies Book 3 is about to move into the beta/editing stage. I hope it will be ready for release in March. This book picks up where Book 2 left off. I’ll be sharing a lot more about this release soon.
