Homework:
One of the nicer things about working from home is not having to worry about the condition of the roads. Ice, snow, rain or slush mean nothing. I love sitting at my desk and watching the weather outside. And I love walking in the cold, slushy/icy/snowy wonderland when I’m finished with the day’s word count. But I can do it on my schedule, not that of some employer. So I hope people keep buying my stories so I can continue working from home.

Fudge:
The world loves chocolate. And peppermint and cookies and cream and all the other varieties of fudge Northwoods Food Factory makes. We enjoyed selling fudge and banana bread at two craft shows. One was the first weekend of deer hunting and the other was during the last weekend. It was nice to be inside while all those hunters were freezing their tails off in deer stands or stomping across fields and frozen swamps and through the woods. I believe in hunting but I’d rather be inside.

Ecofiction:
I was told recently that my writing can be considered ecofiction. So I looked up ecofiction to find out what they were talking about. Seems that ecofiction is any fiction in which the setting is of great importance in the story. So they are right, my work is ecofiction. I am incapable of writing anything without the setting becoming a part of the story and, since I live in the north woods, that’s mostly the setting I write about. So I recently learned something about myself and my stories.

Readers: I think about my readers and I
Readers:
I think about my readers and I wonder if they will be irritated that the wolves in Wolf Legend aren’t werewolves. I wonder because werewolves are big now. But I’ve never gone in for werewolves, vampires, shapeshifters or any of the other usual characters found in a lot of paranormal stories. So to anyone out there who might be wondering, my wolves are just wolves. Okay, they are direwolves, those huge wolves of prehistoric times. Okay, maybe they are larger than direwolves. And some of them are psychic. But other than those minor details, they are just ordinary, everyday gray wolves, the kind that live here in Minnesota. One crossed our field early this morning.

Writing In Genres:
I wonder if my books are similar. I don’t think so. I can’t imagine two more different stories than Spirit Legend and Wolf Legend. But I wonder if someone else would think they are alike. I’ve never used a beta reader. Maybe I should, that’s one thing such a reader would do for me.

Quiet Time:
The quiet time of year is approaching. It makes me remember times with my mom when we spent entire days without speaking. Just working at whatever we were doing in companionable silence. Sometimes we had music, sometimes not.

Editing:
I’ve been going through Wolf Legend to make a few small changes. It’s amazing what a difference even small changes make. The story is coming alive and so are the characters. And I thought they were fine before, now they jump from the page. Of course that’s my opinion and I might be a tad prejudiced.

Wolf Legend Release Date:
I’m so glad I scheduled January as the release date for Wolf Legend. It’s so nice to have time to contact book blog tours and to get stuff to them that they need.

Changing seasons
Changing seasons:
I love seasons. Anyone who knows me knows that I love each and every season and wouldn’t do well where the weather is always the same. The world is frosty and I love that and I love the crunch of leaves beneath my feet. Or the non-sound of soggy leaves. Either is wonderful, a sign of the season.
