I’ve put a lot of thought into what makes a series. For many writers, it’s the continuation of one story. For others, like me, it’s more than one story that share a common theme. Like the ‘legends’ trilogy. A legend that happens to be true is the only commonality they share. The only one. The stories aren’t similar, the characters are varied, even the legends themselves aren’t similar. One is a Native American legend that I made up, one was plucked from Greek mythology and one is simply a legend I think should exist but doesn’t. That’s Wolf Legend. There should be legends about huge wolves.

The Christmas tree isn’t decorated yet
The Christmas tree isn’t decorated yet though we’ve had it up for over a week. Or maybe it is decorated. Depends on your point of view. Our grandson likes it simple. Just lights. I must agree that it is beautiful that way, with all those sparkly, colored lights. But I think that just before Christmas we’ll add ornaments because it’s what we’re used to. Does that make us ancient and set in our ways? Probably. Because those lights are beautiful.

The days are counting down to the shorte
The days are counting down to the shortest day of the year… this coming Saturday. And they are also counting down to the release of Wolf Legend. I know what the world will be like after December 20. The days will be longer though we won’t notice any difference for a few weeks. I don’t know what the difference will be after Wolf Legend is released. And I’m pretty sure that I won’t know if there will be any difference at all for at least a few weeks. Guess I just have to learn patience.

We’re working on a jigsaw puzzle. We do
We’re working on a jigsaw puzzle. We do it every year after the Christmas rush is past and the tree no longer is the center of attention. We set it up on a separate table and work on it during odd moments. This year, however, our grandson presented us with two puzzles last week so we got a jump on the jigsaw puzzle season. The problem is that jigsaw puzzles are addicting. Once when standing in line behind a man purchasing a jigsaw puzzle, I mentioned that fact to him. He replied that he’d once done a puzzle so large that when it was done it became a ten-foot long mural on his living room wall. Whew! We’re not that bad but we do puzzles.
So I’m getting my writing done early in the day so I’ll be sure and actually do it!

Warmer weather ahead. Got to take advantage of it and knock the packed snow off the van. It’s almost touching the ground.
Then it’ll be decision time. Which book tour to go with first for Wolf Legend. The decision will be made by which needs the least amount of lead time. Publication is getting closer and I want the publicity to come as soon after publication as possible.
Then I start looking for people willing to review Wolf Legend in return for a free copy. I hope I get at least a few even if they aren’t heavy duty reviewers. I’ve already learned that they are booked months and sometimes a year in advance so I’m not expecting anything from that group. Just a few people who’ll enjoy reading a fantasy about a psychic wolf pup.

Here’s the cover for Wolf Legend
Here’s the cover for Wolf Legend. I think it’s wonderful and that it wonderfully gets across the feel of the story of a huge direwolf pup who came from another world. I like the misty forest theme because Snowball isn’t from anyplace we know. So now I can get back to promoting the coming release of the book. I had to take a hiatus until the cover was finished because book bloggers want it to help them promote Wolf Legend. Guess I’d better stop mooning over a cover and get to work.

Got the cover for Wolf Legend done and in my computer. I’ll get it posted immediately if not sooner. I hope everyone likes it as much as I do. As I’ve gotten used to it, I see why everyone who looked at both covers chose this one. Because misty forests are always wonderful, enchanting, beautiful, intriguing places where anything and everything can happen and does.

Got a final cover for Wolf Legend. It’s
Got a final cover for Wolf Legend. It’s not the one I thought I’d choose when I got the first choices. I thought I’d go for a cover with the wolf pup, Snowball, standing in the cave at the entrance to Otherworld. But several people looked at the covers and all of them thought the second choice, Snowball standing in a misty forest, was nicer and gave a better feel for what the book is all about. A psychic direwolf pup in a world where she doesn’t belong. So I’m going with that. I’ll get the cover on my blog as soon as possible. Since I’m technologically challenged, that might be a while, but it’ll get there.

Still cold but it’s supposed to start warming up in a few days. We are comfortable and are enjoy having an excuse to take a break from the Christmas rush. I’ve been making handmade Christmas cards and have quite a pile done. As soon as I’m done I plan to read my son’s latest novel, Dakota She-Wolf. We both thought it odd… or evidence of a psychic connection… that we both wrote wolf novels at the same time without knowing what the other was doing.

Today I got two covers from Laura Shinn
Today I got two covers from Laura Shinn for Wolf Legend. They are both great, it’ll be difficult to decide. But I’m thinking the one that shows Snowball standing in the cave at the entrance to Otherworld might be the best choice. The other cover shows the wolf pup in a misty forest. It’s beautiful but I like seeing Otherworld past Snowball’s shoulder. I’ll sleep on it. Any thoughts?
