I think we met the definition of insanit

I think we met the definition of insanity Saturday. It was minus 32 and we drove to Bemidji and sold fudge. We kept looking at each other and asking why we were going on a day so cold no one would show up to buy. But we were wrong, the event was well attended. Not as well as if it would have been warmer, but we had a good day.

When we got home there was an email from Laura Shinn, the graphic artist who is doing the cover for Wolf Legend. She said she’s working on it and should have the first version any day now. So I’ll be eagerly checking my email every day until it comes. Last time, her cover was so beautiful that no revisions were necessary. I’m expecting great things this time, too.

Still in the basement as far as weather

Still in the basement as far as weather is concerned. Below zero again this morning and will continue that way for several more days. Not unusual at this time of year but the number of really cold days is somewhat unusual for December. But it’s beautiful, all white snow that fell before it turned truly cold. That’s important because warm snow is sticky and stays on tree branches, porch railings, anyplace it falls. So it’s a winter wonderland out. DH is concerned that when the wind starts to blow it’ll blow all that heavy snow off the tree branches and onto the power lines and we’ll be without power. I reminded him that we have a well-stocked freezer and a generator so we’ll be okay. So he decided it’s fun after all.

Selling fudge and fudge-filled banana br

Selling fudge and fudge-filled banana bread today. It’ll be partial payment for the fudge and fudge-filled banana bread we will give everyone for Christmas. Made the arrangements yesterday. All we have to do is make out the flat-rate box labels and possibly help with the wrapping and labeling, which is something we do anyway. Oh how wonderful Christmas is when gift-giving is this easy!

Read a piece by author Alison Nappi. (not sure of the spelling but you can check her out) She wrote of giving up on outward accomplishments and turning inward towards a more rewarding life. The piece made me chuckle because that’s sort of what I’ve been doing all my life.

Every time DH and I reached a place of financial stability where we could make a lot more if we continued on that path, we stopped, changed, took another path and lived a life that was more inwardly more rewarding and outwardly less so.

Which is what led to my becoming a writer. Okay, there were outward reasons but the inner reason was that same push from somewhere that told me it was time to change my life still another time.

And this time I’m sticking with it because writing is one of the few lifestyles that allow for any outer life I choose while roaming the universe inwardly. I can write about anything, anywhere, any time and it’s okay.

So how is your life coming? Are you at the cusp of a change?

It’s snowing. It happens every year and

It’s snowing. It happens every year and every year I rediscover the beauty of winter. I got the mail this morning as usual. But for the first time since last winter, I first put on my winter coat, hat, mittens and warm, warm boots. Then I slogged through new-fallen snow and was out of breath by the time I reached the end of the driveway and retrieved two ads. That’s all. Two ads. But the trip to the mailbox and the trip back to the house reaffirmed that winter can be wonderful. Of course it’s not truly cold yet. The farther below zero the temps fall the more I wonder why I thought winter was so great. And the longer the snow stays around, turning dirtier all the time, the more I look forward to spring. But for now, trees hanging heavy with white frosting and endless acres of sculpted drifts are beautiful.

I’m getting antsy and excited and nervo

I’m getting antsy and excited and nervous all at the same time. This book, Wolf Legend, still won’t be rolled out to the fullest fanfare possible because I’m still learning. I’m going at this self-publishing thing in increments. So I guess this is increment number two. Increment number one was Spirit Legend. The publicity was helpful but didn’t make Spirit Legend a smashing success financially. Hopefully Wolf Legend will be somewhat better. Also hopefully, I’ll learn from the experience and will know better what to do the next time.

Still eagerly awaiting a cover for Wolf

Still eagerly awaiting a cover for Wolf Legend. The same artist, Laura Shinn, did such a wonderful job for Spirit Legend that I’m sure it’ll be wonderful. It could be less colorful because it’s about a white wolf pup and white isn’t truly a color. Or is it? I don’t know, I just know that I can hardly wait.

Moving day was yesterday. Daughter was m

Moving day was yesterday. Daughter was moved out last week but her furniture sat in a trailer waiting to be moved into her new home. So we planned to go over a second time and carry, fingerprint, haul, roll and otherwise bring everything somewhere again. Then we got the news. It’s already done! Good thing because there’s a winter storm coming complete with inches of snow and below zero temps. So now my plan is to stay in my nice warm house and write instead of moving furniture.

Cold Winter Weather … Going to get col

Cold Winter Weather … Going to get cold later this week. Like barely above zero. That’s cold for this time of year though I realize that in a month or so it’ll be considered balmy. Makes me think of the animals. How do they survive the cold? Okay, I know they do but do they stand around and shiver? What about the wolves? Their fur is used by Eskimos to frame their parkas because frost won’t form on it. Would I like to be a wolf? Maybe not. Unless I could also be psychic and link my mind to some human’s mind. On the other hand, if I could link my mind to a wolfs then I wouldn’t have to worry about feeling cold or warm. I could just sit in my warm, cozy house and mentally follow the wolf around.

The Last Day: The whole month of Novembe

The Last Day:

The whole month of November is special to me because my birthday falls in November. So I feel somewhat cheated that it has fewer days than other months. The end of November, one of the short months. I’m looking forward to December, not only because of Christmas but also because it’s the month when I must have everything ready for the launch of Wolf Legend. I hope it goes well.
