#PrideBlogfest: Fantasy for Sale
Hi all,
Thanks for stepping by. Today is my turn in the Naughty Edition Reviews PrideBlogfest. Don't forget to visit their site when you're done here - there are lots of great prizes to be won, including an e-reader!
One of those prizes is a pdf-copy of my latest release, Fantasy for Sale*. This emotional story about Cam, a hooker with a dark past, and Nate, the wonderful, loving and patient man who falls for him has been a challenge for me to write. While it started out as one of my earliest attempts at writing, it took me over two years to finish it, with long periods of inspirational flat lines in between. I loved the story, and had a fairly good idea of where it was going, which is more than can be said about most of my books, but it just wouldn't flow. Then, one cold day at the end of last year, I decided to give it one more try and suddenly I realised what was wrong with it. The narrator's perspective.
You see, up until then, I used to write all my books in third-person POV and it worked well for me, but with Fantasy for Sale, it just didn't. Nate's voice was a lot more personal, more intimate, and I needed to let him tell the story. I think he did a great job, so please let me introduce you to it:
Fantasy for SaleWhat's the price of reality when a fantasy is for sale?
Cam is young, sinfully sexy and willing to play without limits, a combination which makes him a fantasy turned to flesh for men and women alike - and he's for sale. Nate is curious when it comes to carnal delights but hasn't found the right man to explore his desires with. When a friend buys Nate a few hours of pleasure with Cam, it's not much of a surprise that Nate ends up intrigued. He keeps coming back for more and the attraction between them appears to be mutual but while Nate finds himself falling for the sexy hooker, Cam makes no secret of the fact that for him, sex is just a job. Determined to win him over, Nathan tries to show him that sex is about more than physical satisfaction but Cam's walls seem impenetrable until a dramatic event forces him to reveal some of his secrets and Nate begins to understand that Cam pays more than just the price for the reality behind the fantasy.

Book Showcase: Naughty Delights by Kam & Dirk
Hi all,
Kameron Brooks and Dirk Tyler have been at it again - cooking up a hot story, of course, get your minds out of the gutter, folks! The result is Naughty Delights, and they're here today to present it:
Naughty Delights
Genre: Erotic Romance

Excerpt:
This is it, Elizabeth thought as she pushed through the door to deliver a large batch of chocolate and vanilla sugar cookies to the display case. It was grand opening day for Guilty Pleasures, and she couldn’t be more excited or more nervous. Years of scrimping and saving had accumulated to this day. In a matter of minutes the bakery would be open for business, and their city would officially have their first taboo sweet shop.
Elizabeth took one final look around, making sure everything was perfect, when Felicia, her business partner and friend, appeared next to her, chomping on a fornication cookie.
Out of all the sugary creations crafted for the shop, Elizabeth and Felicia would agree these were the most fun to develop. They spent many wine-filled nights brainstorming and researching ideas for the inserts.
“What’s it say, babe?” Elizabeth asked, nodding toward the paper in Felicia’s hand.
Felicia laughed and read the naughty message, "Two heads are better than one, but three, now that’s what I call a party!" As she tucked the paper into her back pocket, she asked, “I forget. Was this yours or mine?”
“I actually think your man deserves credit for this one.” Grinning, Elizabeth grabbed the sampler plate off the counter and walked toward the front door, turning to take one final look around before the place filled up. She couldn't be any prouder of the decor in her little slice of heaven. She glanced to her left and smiled proudly as she admired the photos on the wall.
The food photographer they had hired did a fantastic job capturing the beauty and sexiness of several corset cakes available for purchase. But the icing on the cake, so to speak, was the mural to the right of the entrance. A local artist painted "What Are Your Guilty Pleasures" but the letters were actually naked people in compromising naughty positions.
Felicia giggled. “Oh yeah, it’s all coming back to me now. We definitely drank way too much that night.”
Nodding in agreement, Elizabeth turned on the neon sign and opened the doors for business.
Already, a few eager customers were waiting by the window. They actually applauded when Elizabeth stepped out of the shop door. She greeted them with a smile and offered them their choice of iced cocks or boobs. She wasn’t surprised the guests blushed when they made their selection and bit into the cookie. She expected to witness many rosy cheeks in the hours ahead of them—giggles too.
As the streets began to fill up with people going to work, Elizabeth tried to coax even more passersby into the shop with her funny shout-outs such as: “I bet our peckers taste as good as your man’s. No wait, even better!” And, “Our breasts are fantastic and all natural.” All the while she held up a naughty treat.
After the bell dinged behind her a couple dozen times, she realized the humorous approach to draw in customers was working like a charm. Now with them inside, she had no doubt every person who’d entered the shop erected from her dreams would be a repeat customer. And with this thought, she knew the many dinners of Ramen noodles were well worth the discomfort it cost her over the years.

Tuesday Teaser: Gale Stanley
Hi all,
Today's Tuesday Teaser has just released The Talon and the Falconer, the third book in her Symbiotic Mates - series, so without further ado, I'm giving over to Gale Stanley!
~S
Hi everyone, and thank you, Sage, for letting me come by today to talk about my paranormal series—Symbiotic Mates.
I got the idea for the series from an article in National Geographic. The definition of symbiosis is "a mutually beneficial relationship involving close physical contact between two organisms that aren't the same species." It can happen between animals, plants, and fungi. Each organism contributes something that benefits the survival of the other.
A lightbulb went off and I pictured feuding vampires and wolf-shifters. Two species that are natural enemies are suddenly dependent on each other for their very survival. Hot alpha predators are now connected forever by sharing blood.
It's hard to believe that two years have passed since the first book in the series was released. A lot happened in that time and for a while the series was on hold. I’m happy to say that the newly revised and expanded books have found a new home at Siren-Bookstrand.
Book three was just released June 8th. Want to catch up with the series? Post a comment with your email address for a chance to win the first two ebooks: Hunter and the Hawk and Peter and the Wolf.
And now here's a peek at book three.
Symbiotic Mates 3: Talon and the Falconer
[Siren Classic ManLove: Erotic Alternative Paranormal Romance, M/M, vampires, shape-shifters, HEA]

When vampire-hawk Talon Crowquill is shot down near Ben's home, he and Ben develop a mutual respect for each other, and Ben decides to help him escape. But Talon lost a lot of blood, and his wounds won't heal. Ben offers Talon his blood, but before the hawk can fly home, Ben is injured and Talon comes back to help him. Ben's injuries are mortal, and Talon turns him into a vampire to save his life. He leaves Ben in Arcadia and returns to the Colony. Both men become sick, and they grow weaker every day. They have no idea they've forged a connection that can never be broken and their only hope for survival is to become blood-mates.

EXCERPT
The full moon always did a job on Benjamin Byrd’s hormones, pheromones, and all the other moans in his lupine body. The cold gray orb pulled at him like it pulled at the ocean tides. It made him do crazy things. Things he wouldn’t normally do. Like go to the Wolf Den.
Ben lived like a lone wolf, but once a month the craving for companionship—spelled S.E.X.—fired up all his nerve endings, and thoughts of the pack drew him like a moth to a flame. Pack mentality was inbred in every wolf. There was no getting away from it, not when a full moon rose in the sky.
So Ben, dressed in a new pair of jeans and a clean black T-shirt, started walking toward the Wolf Den. The closer he got, the more his nerves increased. He hadn’t been back for twenty-nine days, and that visit hadn’t gone well. Harry, the plug-ugly bully, had made a pass at him, and Ben had beaten a hasty retreat. Harry was dead now, and a small part of Ben was glad he wouldn’t be running into the troublemaker tonight. For a second, Ben felt bad. A man shouldn’t think ill of the dead, especially someone who had been murdered. His regret didn’t last too long. Harry had not been a nice person.
Living so far from Arcadia, Ben was out of the loop, but bad news traveled faster than other kinds, and when a pack member was killed by one of his own, that kind of news traveled fastest of all. Hunter Black, one of the alpha’s best enforcers, had torn Harry’s throat out and run off. It was said that Hunter had been granted asylum at the Colony, home of the vampire-hawks. Ben knew Hunter, and in his opinion, if Hunter was guilty, he must have had good reason.
Ben slowed up as he approached the barn-like building that housed the Arcadia Pack’s bar and dance club. He felt eyes following his movement, but he shrugged it off as paranoia. Ben always felt conspicuous around the others.
Entering the club, Ben stood at the door for a few minutes, just looking around. Already, the place smelled of beer, testosterone, and sweat. A few men leered at him suggestively. Ignoring them, and the electronic beat of the dance music, Ben headed to the bar. A drink would go a long way to calm his nerves.
Ben looked for the bartender. Kade was on tonight. He had his back turned, and he was filling mugs with draft beer from the kegs. Suddenly, Ben was very conscious of the way Kade’s ass filled out his snug jeans. The bartender straightened and turned, flashing a sexy grin as if he knew exactly what Ben had been thinking. An unexpected and unwanted jolt of sexual awareness shot straight to Ben’s groin.
Hell, no.
Kade was one hot wolf, but he was cocky and arrogant, definitely not the type of partner Ben was looking for. The bartender intimated him. Already Ben felt his tongue tying itself into knots.Kade set the mugs on the bar and came over to take Ben’s order. He stared at Ben’s hand on the bar. Ben’s eyes followed the direction of Kade’s gaze.
“Sharp talons,” Ben gave out a shaky laugh. “I wasn’t wearing my glove.”
Kade’s sneer of contempt and ridicule cut deeper than the talon marks on Ben’s hand. “So, what’ll it be, birdman?”
“Bud Light,” Ben replied in a voice so low, the bartender couldn’t hear him.
“What was that again, birdman?”
“Bud Light,” Ben said, a little louder this time.
“A Stud Light for the birdman,” Kade said loudly. Everyone laughed and the bartender set a bottle in front of Ben. “You spend too much time with those damn birds,” Kade spat. “You need a real man in your cage, someone who will ruffle your feathers.”
“Like you?” Ben retorted, hackles rising. He hated Kade’s condescending attitude.
“You should be so lucky,” Kade declared extravagantly.
Fuck you! Biting his lip, Ben grabbed the beer and moved away from the bar.
I shouldn’t have come.
Slipping through the pack of bodies, he made his way to a shadowy corner and leaned against the wall, trying to ape the attitude of the other wolf-shifters. It wouldn’t work. Ben had never been like the others, and no matter how much he pretended he was, everyone in the pack knew he was different. Too small. Too serious. Too much into birds.
Happy Reading!

What's the price of reality when a fantasy is for sale?

Adult Excerpt “You know what?” she told Cam slowly, tauntingly. “How about you stay a little longer and take care of Nathan?” Cam raised an eyebrow but didn’t answer. I didn’t possess such control. “Cyn, no!” I cut in. “Seriously, I—”“Shut up, Nate! It’s my treat.” She hadn’t taken her eyes off Cam. “Would you, hon? I feel kind of bad, you know? I had so much fun last night and the poor darling hasn’t got laid in weeks. Would you make him happy for me?”Cam did another of those looking-from-one-to-the-other-and-back routines, then he shrugged and smiled. “Sure. What do you want me to do?”“Anything he wants.” She fumbled briefly in her purse and slipped a bundle of notes into Cam’s hand. “That should cover it.” Winking at me, she turned to leave but stopped at the door. “Oh, and Cam? Make him scream.” Vixen grin firmly in place, she spun around and left us alone. Me. Him. Alone. Me alone with him. I developed a very serious interest in the layout of the bathroom tiles. Had that light grey pattern really been in them all along? And why had no one realised that the pattern on one of them was facing the wrong way and… I became aware of Cam coming closer, but I just couldn’t make myself look up from the floor. Cam chuckled softly and tucked a finger under my chin, gently forcing my face up to make me meet his eyes. “You okay?” His voice was low and intimate, teasing my ears just like the sight of his smiling mouth teased my libido. “Yeah, I just, uh, I guess I’m just more than a bit surprised.” I gave a shaky laugh. “Trust Cynthia to come up with stupid ideas.” “I don’t think it’s a stupid idea.” Cam sounded perfectly calm, which only served to make me even more nervous. I shuddered under his inquisitive look. “But…you just spent the night with her and now you…you would…with me. And she… Oh, fuck,” I groaned. “This is weird.”Cam’s gaze locked with mine. “There’s nothing weird about it, Nathan. It’s only sex, no strings attached. She wants you to enjoy it, so don’t spoil it by thinking too much.”“But I-I’ve never…” I stammered, helpless under Cam’s stare and increasingly incoherent. “There’s a first time for everything,” Cam rasped, leaning in a little closer. “Don’t think. Feel.” He lowered his head and brushed his lips over my mouth in a first tender touch. Thoughts ran havoc in my mind, not all of them logical. He was a whore. Whores didn’t kiss—did they? This one definitely did. He hesitated for a few heartbeats then came back for more, the caress longer and more intense this time. I moaned as his wet tongue parted my lips ever so gently and the pressure of his mouth against mine increased. What was I doing? I couldn’t…shouldn’t… But why did it feel so natural to open up to Cam, and why did I have this need to lean into him when he put his arms around me and pulled me close? He was half-naked, and his skin was still moist from the shower. He smelled so fucking good, clean, just a bit musky and the feel of his solid body where it touched mine made my nerve endings tingle with pleasure. Our kiss, his kiss, deepened, a slow, tentative tangling of tongues, as he licked and explored my mouth. He was in control and I liked it. I liked how he played and rambled like an eager puppy and yet unerringly discovered all the caresses I enjoyed. Cam was a good kisser and his height forced me to tilt my head up, causing an unfamiliar angle that only added to my growing arousal. And he wasn’t left unaffected either. He pushed his groin against mine, pressed the hard ridge there to my own throbbing erection. I thought the friction alone would bring me off, but then he started nibbling and licking from my ear, along my neck to my collarbone and I was busy shuddering and jolting under his talented tongue.

Special Guest: J. Annas Walker
Hi all,
Please join me in welcoming a special guest today who effortlessly combines engineering / construction technology and fantasy / paranormal fiction - and there's a lot more to find out about her. Ladies & gentlemen, please welcome J. Annas Walker
The business ones
Please give us a short introduction about yourself. My name is J. Annas Walker. I’m a native of the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina. I hold degrees in civil engineering technology and building construction technology and am a registered Engineer Intern. These days, I write full time and live in my own personal land of make-believe.
What genre(s) do you write in and why? I get enough of the everyday mundane. Fantasy/Paranormal gives me the option to check out and lead an impossible life for a while.
Tell us about your latest release. Scion’s Avalon is a sequel to Scion’s Freedom. In the first book Cassy Daniels is a vampire princess on the run from a life she doesn’t want. In the second book we get to see a happy Cassy living in exile with her husband, David. However, vampire politics are just not going to let them have an uninterrupted happily-ever-after.
Do you need a special setting to write in or do you have a ceremony to get you in the mood? What does it look like? There’s really nothing special about what I do. I do need quiet space, but this is easily achieved. I’m usually up super early, thanks to a childhood in a farming community.
Describe your feelings when you learnt that your first book was accepted for publication. Shocked is the best description. I submitted The Lost Alchemist at the behest of family and friends. I really expected it to be rejected. Surprise! Siren took it.
Has the release of your first book changed anything in your personal life? If so, what? Nothing really changed. My husband was one of the people encouraging me to put myself out there and give writing a serious try. He still does.
Where do you find inspiration? Great scenery will sometimes spark a thought. I like to use places I’m familiar with. My native mountains and the northeast regions of the state of Georgia are used alot.
Who is your favourite character and why? Eleanor from Midnight’s Jewel is a particular favorite. She’s not the heroine, but she totally kicks butt. A demigoddess with a deep sense of duty and several lifetimes worth of knowledge and power makes a formidable enemy.
A favourite line from one of your books.“Well, my boy, you certainly have a way with the ladies. One vanishes, one stabs you, and the other runs away in tears. You may want to work on that.”~Hadrian to Brandon Thorpe in Midnight’s Jewel
Your favourite drink and food when writing. I try not to eat and write. I don’t want to risk getting anything on my laptop. I drink mostly water this time of year. The Southeastern US is very hot and humid.
The nosy ones
How much of the real “you” is in your stories? I don’t think it’s possible to completely divorce yourself from your characters. I can see a little of myself in all of them, good and bad. Claire tends to roll with thing, even when they make no sense, and take the impossible on faith. Cassy wants her own life on her own terms. Sabrina feels out of step with those around her and just wants a quiet normal life.
Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character? Who was it? I fell in love with the tortured Louis from Interview With A Vampire instantly. I must have read that book a dozen times. The movie was good, but I still think of Louis as my book boyfriend.
What’s the silliest error in a book you’ve submitted? Unfortunately, when I proof read my work, I read it back to myself the way I thought of the story. The dropped words don’t always stand out to me. The Lost Alchemist was the worst offender. After it came out, I recruited a cousin of mine to help with the proofing.
Who is your least favourite of the characters you’ve written? Why? I really disliked Henri from The Lost Alchemist. His character is so self-serving. He puts being an alchemist above being a good father and loving companion. Love just wasn’t enough, the fool.
The steamiest scene from your books. David and Cassy in his basement hideout from Scion’s Freedom makes the top of my list. I love his reaction the next morning when he realizes who he took to his bed!
Favourite comfort food? Tomato soup with a grilled cheese sandwich
A person you admire. Laurell K Hamilton get big props for being about to live with her character for more than twenty novels. I don’t think I have the stamina to put up my people that long. Those aren’t characters. Those are committed relationships!
If you could ask any person in the world one question of your choice, who would it be and what would you ask them? Curiosity would get the better of my manners. I would have to ask the Queen where she puts all those hats we only ever see once or twice.
The fast ones
Favourite colour? PurpleFavourite pet? I have a cat named Mr. Meowgi Von Pussenstein who is very sure I love no one better than him. How vain and narcissistic!Dog or cat? CatCoffee or tea? Iced sweet teaQuickie or candles? Both!Hunky or chunky? Pretty packaging is nice, but an intelligent man is my pick.Suit & tie or jeans & boots? Jeans and BootsWalk in the park or chat over cocktails? Walk in the park at sunset
Thank you so much for the interview! Let's take a look at your book now

After a failed attempt to take Cassy from the Council of Crones estate, magical portals lead back to the missing women. Cassy and David are tasked with bringing them home. David is sent after Elisabeta, Cassy’s sister-in-law, who is still on Earth. Cassy, however, has what it takes to enter the elf-kingdom of Avalon and retrieve the other three vampires.
Can Cassy and David hold on to their bliss, or will Avalon’s magic lure her from home?

Author bio:Born and raised among the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina, J. Annas Walker was brought up listening to oral history and traditional storytelling. Her hobby of writing short stories bloomed out of this tradition. With the encouragement of her sisters, husband, an aunt, and a very supportive cousin, she took a chance to turn her hobby into something larger.
After acquiring a bachelors of science in civil engineering technology, she worked for a number of years as a transportation designer. Designing road construction projects by day, she continued writing by night. Today, she writes more than she ever did and blends fantasy and paranormal into romance storylines. The fanged, spectral, magical, and furry have become everyday life.
J. Annas Walker lives with her husband, two teenage sons, and her cat/office assistant.

Tuesday Teaser: Siobhan Muir
Hi all,
I'm delighted to welcome the lovely Siobhan Muir on my blog today. Her latest release is an intriguing twist on an old trope - a dragon and a virgin, and of course a hero who jumps the virgin - erm, fights the dragon. So, without further fuss, please welcome SM - the other one ;)

Thanks so much for having me here today, Sage. I love visiting your blog. :)So with a hectic weekend behind me and a crazy week ahead (I now have edits I have to finalize), Monday comes as a surprise. The usual schedule is all cranked around because the kids are out of school for the summer and I’m thinking – VACATION! Beach reads, hanging by the pool, and spending warm evenings watching sunsets with the person I love.Yeah, not so much. Las Vegas is in the middle of the Mojave Desert and it’s HOT, and not in the good way we erotic romance authors write about. ;) It makes me more of a hermit during the summer months than any other time of the year. But that’s a good thing for you, right? It means more books for you to read.My recent release Not a Dragon’s Standard Virgin, is a great vacation getaway tale because it takes you to a remote Scottish village where a dragon has been wreaking havoc on the residents. Their solution to the dragon? Appease it with virgins. Yeah, that totally works, right? :DIsabelle Andersen’s solution to getting OUT of the sacrifice is to find a man to take her virginity, which sounds easy, but isn’t when the village is looking to get rid of her. Not your standard virgin by any stretch of the imagination. She picks Jon Swift, a warrior who stops in town on a windy spring night, and makes her blood run hot. It helps he’s pretty handsome and moves with a predatory grace. The only problem is Jon has sworn off virgins and is just there to kill the “dragon” to protect the village. Isabelle’s request throws him for a loop because he’d like nothing better than to take her up on her offer, but bitter experience makes him more willing to use his steel sword than his masculine one. ;)
Here’s the blurb:
Sacrificial virgins are so sixteenth century, but unless Isabelle finds a man to take her innocence, she’ll likely be next.
For Isabelle Andersen, being a virgin in a dragon-plagued Scottish village is dangerous. Potentially the next dragon sacrifice, Isabelle’s only solution is to lose her innocence, and fast. All she needs is one handsome stranger she can coax into bed, but Lochmore Cott doesn’t get much in the way of visitors.Jonarrion Swiftwind has sworn off virgins. The last time he took one to his bed, his family paid the price for his lust at the hands of her demon-possessed father. He’s made it his mission to destroy all demons. Nothing distracts him from killing this demon until lovely Isabelle offers him tea. And her virginity.Just one night of passion makes Jon realize he doesn’t want to let the independent beauty go. But will Isabelle accept him when she discovers the only real dragon in her village… is him?
Set in historical Scotland, this story is a fantasy paranormal romance, but there is a hot warrior wearing a kilt, a bold Scotswoman willing to try anything to survive, and a deadly dragon. What’s better than that for hot summer reading? Thanks so much for stopping by and happy reading!
