Tuesday Tales - Picture Prompt
It’s time for Tuesday Tales!

Welcome back! This week is our picture prompt week and all posts must be 300 words or under and reflect the chosen image. Today we have a snippet from Touch of a Yellow Sun, Colors of Love #2. Today’s excerpt has us seeing a gentler side of my boy Marek.
Thanks so much for dropping by!

I rapped on that pretty white door and waited out in the hallway like a gentleman. Shey tugged the door open, obviously confused when he saw me standing in the corridor with an envelope in my hand. “You don’t have to knock,” he reminded me. “Yeah, I know but this is official.” I held out the envelope.“I wish Pete would get glasses,” he sighed while taking the bright blue envelope. Our postal carrier was in desperate need of spectacles. Shey and I were always getting each other’s mail. “Open it,” I prompted when he began to turn away. One golden eyebrow jumped up his brow, but he did as asked, lifting the flap carefully. “Tell me your one of them people who refuses to tear wrapping paper and opens the gift real slow and gentle before folding the paper back up all neat and shit.”“No.” He peeked at me through some loose hair. “Maybe. Oh, stop snickering,” he nudged me with his hip as he eased the card out of the envelope.” Uhm, babe, I’m not having a boy.”He held up the ‘Congratulations on your new baby boy!” card. “Yeah, I know. I crossed that out. It was the only card they had at the thrift shop that come with an envelope. Just read the inside.” I tugged the card from his fingers and opened it. “This here on the inside – not the scribbled-out stuff but the words I wrote – that’s the important shit.”“You’re really quite adorable at times.” He leaned in to kiss my whiskery cheek. “You keep that shit to yourself. I got a reputation to protect.”His eyes scanned the scribble inside the card then rose to me. “Is this an invitation to Sunday dinner at your place?”“Yeah,” I replied, inhaling the smell of oils on the air, or maybe the intoxicating scent was coming from Shey. “I figured, you know, it was time for me to pay you back for all the foot rubs, tea, tofu burgers, zucchini squares, and blow jobs.”

Authors know that their muse is a fickle creature. Best-selling spy novelist Steven Ramsey has been in a hate-hate relationship with his inspiration for months. When Steven's publisher lays a legal ultimatum upon him, with a rapidly approaching deadline, he knows he must do something to kick-start his creativity or face the unemployment line. His daughter comes up with a possible answer: a summer camp for the creative soul. With nothing to lose, Steven packs up his laptop, phonograph, and beloved record albums and heads from Greenwich Village to the Catskill Mountains.
There, among a horde of college students attending for extra credits, is Declan Pomeroy, a photographer of fey creatures who is twenty-two years younger than Steven. The woods are a magical place, and he quickly finds himself falling under the spell of the free-spirited photographer. Confusion wars with desire as Steven succumbs to the feelings welling up inside. But, sadly, summer camp always must end. Can a man who has just found himself really leave the person that makes his heart sing?

Tuesday Tales - Sour
It`s time for Tuesday Tales!

Today we have a snippet from Touch of a Yellow Sun., Colors of Love #2, my current MM hockey romance WIP. In this opposites attract tale instigator and on-ice pain-in-the-ass Marek Hafer and yogi Shey Pierson find themselves living next door to each other. Talk about conflicting professions! Will the two men’s personalities clash as well, or will they be able to find some common ground to build a relationship on?
Our word prompt today is “Sour” and Marek is having one of his first conversations with his handsome, laid-back neighbor.
This story may have gay erotic scenes, strong social issues addressed and mature language. If those things offend now is the time to move onto another Tuesday Tales blog. Thanks for stopping by!

Window checking sort of became a daily event. Sue me. I liked the sunrise and sunsets here. A week passed with me standing at that stupid window every morning, sipping black coffee strong enough to strip the paint off the side of your house, staring down at Shey Pierson meditating. Finally, my curious and what some would call grating nature got the best of me. It took a bit of doing as the wooden pane had swelled in the summer heat, but I finally got the window up.
“Hey, while you’re sitting there doing squat why not pulls those damn weeds?” I shouted down at my neighbor, feeling pretty smug about my ability to be snarky/funny at seven in the morning. Not everyone can pull that off. It’s a gift.
He tipped his head back. All that gold hair fell from his cheeks and brow. He smiled at me. A dull kind of uncomfortably sour knot appeared in my empty stomach, as if someone had speared me with their hockey stick.
“Good morning, Mr. Hafer,” he called up, his voice kind of mellow and sing-songy. How did he know my name? Had I told him? I didn’t remember doing so but then again I could have. The queasy sensation in my lower belly intensified. Must be I was hungrier than I realized. “I’ll be picking some herbs when I’m done. Feel free to use my herb garden for your cooking if you want.”
“Yeah, I don’t cook.” This conversation had been a mistake. With him seated down there, looking back at me as he was, a wicked little fantasy bubbled up. One where I went down to the garden, pulled out my cock, and slid it between his lips, keeping his head tipped back with gentle pressure under his jaw. Not too much pressure, because teeth on prick is not pleasant, but just enough to ensure his mouth stayed on my dick as I began working my hips forward and—
“Oh no? Well, that’s a shame. I’ll make a bigger pan of my squash surprise and share some with you. Namaste, Mr. Hafer.”
And just like that, Yoga Man dismissed me. He righted his head and went back into his trance or whatever state his dippy mind slipped into. Well, fuck me sideways. I slammed the window shut with one hand, spilling wicked hot coffee on my bare foot. After a small dance, I tinkered with the miserable radiator, but it wouldn’t throw any heat. I made a mental note to stop and talk to Jenny Jenny – I would never be able to think of that name and not have Tommy Tutone’s song playing in my head – about the lack of heat. September was crawling into October. Some warmth was going to be crucial.

Tuesday Tales - Restless
It`s time for Tuesday Tales!

Today we have a snippet from Touch of a Yellow Sun., Colors of Love #2, my current MM hockey romance WIP. In this opposites attract tale instigator and on-ice pain-in-the-ass Marek Hafer and yogi Shey Pierson find themselves living next door to each other. Talk about conflicting professions! Will the two men’s personalities clash as well, or will they be able to find some common ground to build a relationship on?
Our word prompt today is “Restless”. In today’s snippet we get to meet our storyteller, Marek Hafer.
This story may have gay erotic scenes, strong social issues addressed and mature language. If those things offend now is the time to move onto another Tuesday Tales blog. Thanks for stopping by!

“Hand to God, I did not go into that bar to start something. I know that’s what the cops said but the cops are biased. Kind of like the refs.” I stared right back at my new head coach. He had a twitchy, restless eyelid. I folded my arms over my chest, sighed, and settled in for an ass-reaming. I guess, in retrospect, stopping for a beer and a burger might have been a bad idea even though I’d been driving for over five hours and was dry as a turd rolled in the sand and my stomach was gnawing on my spleen it was so empty. Guess I should have kept driving hindsight being twenty-twenty and all that shit…“The cops are biased like the refs,” Coach Bell repeated in a slow, dull, monotone way. I nodded. “Known fact,” I said. He continued to stare at me as if I were some sort of alien from a different solar system. Guess that confused look was to be expected. Bet he’d never had to go bail out a new Badger before. “Seriously, they hear the name Marek Hafer and they come in guns blazing.”“You’re telling me that the Pennsylvania State Police shot at you?” He blinked tired blue eyes at me. “No, it’s just a saying. They never drew on me.”“Okay, that’s good. I thought they said it was just a drunk and disorderly since the man you punched in the head dropped the charges after he realized who you were. I mean a D and D is bad enough but…”“Nothing like the notoriety of surviving a haymaker from Hafer,” I laughed. Coach did not laugh along. So I tried again to lighten the mood a bit. “No bullets were flying although a few fists were,” I joked and winked. Coach Bell didn’t seem to think that I was funny. Sighing to myself, I melted into the old, stuffed chair across from his desk and wondered how it was I had ended up here, in Berger Lake, on an ECHL team that had one skate on the ice and the other in the grave. Flexing my fingers, the scabs on my knuckles cracked, and I was instantly reminded of how I’d gotten here. It was my salty and somewhat aggressive personality. My last GM called it ‘Short Man Syndrome’ once and I punched him in the nose for that crack. Five foot six wasn’t short, the fucker. And now I was playing in this rural little cow patty town for the next two years. Which would get me to thirty-five and retirement age. Do not ask me what I’d do after I hung up my skates because I didn’t have a clue. Maybe I could find a bar somewhere and be a bouncer. I could see myself as a bouncer. Yeah, me and Pat Swayze. “Roadhouse,” I mumbled as Coach Bill Bell, I shit you not that’s the poor mans name, began rambling on and on about obeying the law and hockey and rules and beating up men who said you were short. Seemed knocking someone out for calling you a midget was frowned upon in this state. Who knew?

Tuesday Tales - Puzzle
It`s time for Tuesday Tales!

Today we have a snippet from Life According to Liam, my recently completed MM hockey romance novella. I’d found this half-finished tale in my files recently and fell back in love with the premise as I read over what I’d written way back in 2016. Since I haven't started my next project yet, you all get another peek into this sweet and sexy novella!
A short synopsis is that web-designer Mike Kneller took in his younger sister when she turned up pregnant at sixteen and their parents threw her out. Now he helps keep an eye on his nephew, Liam, as he works at home. Mike also blogs on the side, and his blog is titled ‘Life According to Liam’. Mike is a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Ravens and their goalie, Bryn Mettler.
Life being what it can be, Bryn is shown Mike’s blog and the star netminder finds himself drawn to the man with the sparkling green eyes and easy laugh. The two meet and sparks fly. In this scene, Mike and Liam are conversing while watching the home team, the Pittsburgh Ravens, playing hockey.
Our word prompt today is “Puzzle”.
This story may have gay erotic scenes, strong social issues addressed and mature language. If those things offend now is the time to move onto another Tuesday Tales blog. Thanks for stopping by!

"Uncle Mike, Captain America says it's time to watch your land gauge." I grimaced and then slowly turned to look down on Liam, wearing a stern look, cradling his stuffed Captain America doll. "I'm sorry, Cap," I said to the battered superhero. "I'll try to do better." "It's okay. Your tongue is just bad," Liam informed me then ran off with Cap to right a wrong somewhere else in the house. I rolled my eyes to the ceiling and hurried to finish. The dryer buzzed just as I was turning off the overhead light in the kitchen. "My jersey is dry!" Liam bellowed and raced around me. Where poor Captain America went was a puzzle to be solved later. "Inside voice," I reminded the tornado as it blew past me. A couple of minutes later, Liam, Cap, and I sat on my sectional in warm shirts. Well, Cap wasn't in a warm shirt, but I'm sure the fires of righteousness that burn in his chiseled chest keep him warm. "Speaking of chiseled chests," I mumbled as the Ravens pregame show hit the air with a stunning image of Bryn Mettler taking part in a photoshoot for swimwear. "What a great looking man," I sighed wistfully while folding underwear emblazoned with PAW Patrol characters. He was tall, dark, and handsome. His brown hair and dark brown eyes made me stupid, as did the perfectly groomed dark stubble that always lingered artfully on his firm jaw. "Uncle Mike, are you going to date with Bryn Mettler?" Liam asked. My gaze flew from the TV screen to my nephew. "Why would you ask that?" I enquired of the lad. He rolled to his back and stuck his little red sneakers into the air. "Mommy said before she dated with Aaron tonight that he was handsome." Liam stared at me as the pregame show slid into an interview with the Ravens defensive coach. "You likes handsome boys, so is you and Bryn Mettler going to be dated?" I couldn't keep the soft chuckle from escaping. There we had this week's blog post. My nephew was a comedic gold mine. Liam's fine golden eyebrows tangled as I battled to get myself under control. "I wish Bryn Mettler would ask me out on a date," I said to the boy. He reached up to touch the tips of his toes, a feat that made my hamstrings scream just looking at it, and chewed on my answer like a glob of taffy. Kelly and I had always been open about my being gay. We wanted Liam to grow up in an accepting household. He already knew that men could date and marry other men and that if he liked boys instead of, or in addition to, girls, that was perfectly normal. "Does Bryn like boys too?" Liam asked as he picked at his sneakers. "Yes he does, I’m just not sure he likes boys who look like me.” He took that at face value and then launched into a story about Hulk eating peanut butter cookies. I shook my head, smiling all the while, and returned to folding toddler clothing and watching the Ravens, and that sinfully sexy Bryn Mettler, roll over their competition.

British Holiday

It’s been a whirlwind summer filled with travel so far! My daughter and I took our first international trip last week and visited the beautiful country of Great Britain. We stayed with my friend and coauthor, RJ Scott and her delightful family, who were incredible tour guides and kept us laughing the entire time!

We had a day in London where we got to ride the London Eye, enjoy a boat ride along the Thames, and enjoy the city on top of a double-decker tour bus.

There were days spent visiting quaint English villages such as Weedon and Castle Combs.

Trips to stately manors also filled our days. We had a delicious cream tea at Clivedon Manor one day then walked the grounds to enjoy the flowerbeds.

Wales – and a graduation from Cardiff U. for RJ’s daughter awaited – so we made our way there with a short stop in Bristol for a meet and greet. After a night in a grand old hotel we arrived in Wales where we spent some time at Chepstow Castle along the River Wye.

As a huge Torchwood/Dr. Who fan, I had to spend some time at Mermaid Quay in Cardiff Bay. I got to stand right where they filmed quite a few scenes for Jack, Ianto, and the gang. Talk about exciting!

On the way home we made a small trip to Stonehenge. It was a mystical, magical experience that I will never forget.

Our eight days went so quickly! We’re looking forward to returning to Great Britain soon. The people are so welcoming and warm, the food is delicious (I do love me some pie ‘n’ mash) and the countryside is stunning. If you’ve never been to the UK please consider visiting. You will not be disappointed!
