Ryker is hockey royalty, Jacob is a poor country boy. Can two vastly different people find common ground and become the men they want to be?
Ryker comes from a long line of championship-winning hockey players. Playing college hockey to develop his game is his only focus, and nothing will stand in the way of him working to become the best player. He has no room for relationships, people that point out his flaws, or anyone who calls him on his dreams. He certainly has no place for love, and meeting Jacob is nothing but a useful distraction on the side. After all trying to get his Owatonna Eagles teammate into bed is less work and more play. When tragedy rocks his family, his charmed life crumbles, and the only person he can turn to is the same one who claims to hate him.
Jacob Benson has only known hard work and stifling conservative values his whole life. Born and raised in the small rural community of Eden Crossing, Minnesota, he’s the only son of a hard-working but struggling dairy farming family. Jacob is using his skills in hockey to finance his way to an agricultural science degree. These four years at Owatonna U. will probably be the only time he has to enjoy life, gain acceptance about his sexuality, and live openly before his inevitable return to the farm. Running into a pretty rich boy like Ryker Madsen is putting a damper on his enjoyment of life away from home.  Ryker’s flip, conceited, carefree attitude grates on Jacob’s every nerve. So why, if Ryker is everything he dislikes, does he want nothing more than to explore the sinful dreams that his annoying teammate stars in every night?

Tuesday Tales - Picture Prompt

It’s time for Tuesday Tales!

Welcome back! This week is our picture prompt week and all posts must be 300 words or under and reflect the chosen image. Today we have a snippet from Neutral Zone, A Railers Christmas Novella, written with RJ Scott. Today’s excerpt shows us a wee bit of Ten’s first trip back home after spending some time in a specialty rehab in Arizona.
Thanks so much for dropping by!

As always, the talk at any Rowe gathering soon turned to hockey, our teams, and how we were doing in the standings. This would, inevitably, turn into a dick swinging contest between Brady and Jamie. I poked at the slab of saucy noodles on my plate, the thumping headache souring my appetite. Both Lisa’s tried to stem the hockey talk after giving me several furtive glances, but the two elder Rowe’s were in full cock battle mode. “… just saying that if your attention were on the odd man skating high…”“…difference in a one-man or two-man forecheck….”“…left wing lock like Montreal and Detroit have used…”“…New Jersey trapped their way to how many Cup wins and never…”“…not every team can be a free-flowing team…”“…get his opinion. What do you think, Ten?”Mads tapped my knee with his. I lifted my eyes from my lasagna and was shocked to discover that Mom had cleared the table and placed a massive chocolate cake in front of me. When I looked around me everyone at the table, down to Jamie’s little girl Bethany, were staring at me. My brain slammed down as all the words spoken around me in the last half hour all tried to jam themselves into my head at once. “Uhm…I guess I’m…the forecheck is kind of, I never…the odd man… uhm, could we…I need to… fuck.” I buried my face into my hand. The deafening silence that fell over the table made my shaky breathing sound louder. “I think it’s time for Ten to relax for a bit. Too much over-stimulation shorts him out a bit,” Mads said, pushing to his feet and taking me by the elbow. No one, not even Bethany, who was a jabber-monkey, said a thing. “Come on, babe.”

Tuesday Tales - Bridge

It`s time for Tuesday Tales!

Today we have a snippet from Touch of a Yellow Sun., Colors of Love #2, my current MM hockey romance WIP. In this opposites attract tale instigator and on-ice pain-in-the-ass Marek Hafer and yogi Shey Pierson find themselves living next door to each other. Talk about conflicting professions! Will the two men’s personalities clash as well, or will they be able to find some common ground to build a relationship on?
Our word prompt today is “Bridge.”
This story may have gay erotic scenes, strong social issues addressed and mature language. If those things offend now is the time to move onto another Tuesday Tales blog. Thanks for stopping by!

Shey rustled around a bit, his breath hot and sweet moving over my chest. I closed my eyes and tried to focus on him and how warm he was, how firm and strong pressed up against me. Focusing on those sensations, I let the sound of his breathing combine with the yoga music that was still playing out in the kitchen. It seeped into me, easing the stiffness of muscles that had been worked hard on the ice and off last night. My bed-partner wiggled closer, sighing in his sleep. I drifted off with him tight to me and the cat’s back foot resting on the humped-up bridge of my nose. Thirty minutes later, I woke up again.I reached for Shey and found a cat curled up on his pillow. Sitting up, groggily, I listened and heard him puttering around in the kitchen, humming along to what was now some old folk music playing on the stereo. Not ready to face the day yet, I fell back into the warm bedding, inhaling the smell of him, me, sex, and coconut on the linens.“Good morning,” he called from the doorway. I rolled my head to look at him. He’d pulled on that sexy robe from last night and had pulled his hair into this gnarled up sort of a bun. My dick, already hard, throbbed. “You look well-rested.”He walked in carrying two yellow mugs of tea. I could not take my eyes off the man, or the flash of bare leg that sexy robe gave me with each stride. My fingers itched to touch him. “You look edible.” “Sit up, flatterer, and drink this.” He waited until I was upright and then carefully handed me a mug. As soon as the smell hit my nose I made a gagging sound. His lips twitched. “It’s not that bad, truly. Now sip that while I go gather up the oils. I want to cleanse your chakra before you go in to work.”       “Skate, it’s morning skate. And my sacral area is just fine. Want to see?”

Tuesday Tales - Bone

It`s time for Tuesday Tales!

I sipped my tea, wishing it was straight bourbon. That would dull me faster. “Do you know who Tennessee Williams is?” I threw him a befuddled look. “Country singer?”“You’re thinking of Tennessee Ernie Ford.” I shrugged and gulped more tea. Sometimes I was a real bone-head. Next cup was going to be all bourbon with a dash of tea-colored water over rocks. “Tennessee Williams was a playwright. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Streetcar Named Desire?”“Yeah, I’ve seen the movies.”“Okay, so you know his work.” He wiggled closer, his need to touch not completely unwanted. His hand on my thigh felt good. “He once said that ‘Hell is yourself and the only redemption is when a person puts himself aside to feel deeply for another person.’ Maybe you’ve only just gotten to the point where you can begin to truly find redemption because this might be the first time you’ve set yourself aside to feel deeply for someone else.”I stared at the pretty man I adored openly. He raised a slim golden eyebrow. “How do you do that? I mean, how do you touch things inside me that I don’t even touch? How do you know what to say all the time?” I really wanted more tea followed by more Shey. “You’re not that complex of a man to read, Marek.” He squeezed my thigh. “I think you’ve finally started the journey of self-awareness and self-love.”“Uh, nah, I don’t think there’s much self-love in me. I love you, and I think it’s you that’s doing all this good stuff for me.”“No, no, I’m not.” He tucked a leg under his ass then settled those eyes of his on me. “I’m merely a guide. You’re the one doing the hard work. I’m just taking you across the river of doubt by pointing out the rocks that are safe to step on. Meditation, yoga, opening yourself to new ideas, loving someone.” His nose crinkled. “That sounded really egotistical, as if you’d never loved anyone before I came along.”“I did, I guess. Sort of.” I leaned over to steal a perfect little kiss. “None of them made me look at myself though, not like you do.” I cupped his face, his chin resting in my palm. “So where do I step now?”“You’ll have to look deeper inside yourself to find that answer.”“That’s a crappy reply for a wise yogi man like you.” I took another taste of his lips. “Maybe you and me can work on that over this holiday break the league give me.”

Okay, so this was a first.
People waiting for me outside the players entrance dressed up in ears and whiskers calling themselves Hafer’s Hamsters as if it were a thing of pride. Nary a cuss word or rubber rat was being hurled at me. Nowhere, and I mean nowhere, had I ever had fans like this small knot of numskulls. Most fans in the leagues above us looked down their noses at the players like me. Some understood the role we played but they were always outgunned in online discussions, so anyone like a Marek Hafer was a troll who needed routed from the ranks. Maybe here in the hills fans weren’t as snooty about things, or perhaps they were drunk.
Whatever. They were here, asking for autographs, and having a good time and isn’t that what sports is all about? The twenty of them were a vocal bunch, kind of like me. We bonded instantly.
Stepping out onto home ice with the arena three-quarters full was a treat. Sure, there were a few scattered boos but mostly cheers when the starting lineup was introduced. My backers squeaked like hamsters when my name was called. It was funny as shit. A few stuffed hamsters hit the ice as did a Frisbee and a can of beer. Ah, the minor leagues.
