Another Milestone for Victor and His Creator
Who woulda thunk it?!
Not me, that is for darn sure. Never in a million years did I think that one of my books would reach 100 ratings on Goodreads. And the fact that it's Two Man Advantage just tickles my knickers to no end! Now I know 100 ratings may not be a big deal to some authors. To me, it's huge!
Two Man Advantage on Goodreads
When I first sat down to write about Victor Kalinski, I honestly never thought he would even get a contract. I mean, this guy is a first class jerk. He's crude, venomous, misogynistic, self-centered, and volatile. He was on a downward spiral with little chance of redemption. Not your typical romance novel hero. And then the Venomous Pole met Dan Arou and well, you know how it goes . . . those two fell hard for each other and finally got their happily ever after.
Out of all the books that I've written, this trilogy has been my best selling and most controversial. Oh my, do some readers hate Victor. I mean they loathe him and the horse he rode in on, as they say. Yet there are others who love the man and I am proud to say I'm one of Vic's biggest fans and not because he has sold the most books or gotten the most ratings. I adore his face because he is real, honest, and flawed. Man, is he flawed. Yet, even when he is trying his best to be his worst, we can see Victor clawing and scrabbling to find the light amid the darkness. And when he does discover his salvation in Dan Arou's arms, we get to see Victor grow into a man that we might like to actually spend time with.
In closing, I'd like to say thanks to Victor and Dan. They've been a pure joy to write. Thanks to them, and the scores of fans who have begged for it, I have just completed Snap Shot, book #1 in the Cayuga Cougars duology, which is Mario McGarrity and Madame Lila's book. After Lila and Mario there will be one more novella but I'm not saying who the book will be about. I'm terrible, I know. Kind of like a certain acidic redheaded Pole that we all know and love.
If you've never read the trilogy, now is a great time to get to know Vic, Dan, and the Cayuga Cougars better!

Tuesday Tales - Save
Hello! It`s time for Tuesday Tales.
I'm still chugging away on an LGBTQ hockey romance titled Snap Shot. This story contains crude language (they are hockey players after all) and gay sexual situations. If that offends now would be the time to move onto another Tuesday Tales offering. Our word prompt for the week is "Save".

She leaped up and scurried off, her silky yellow robe and gown fluttering behind her. I sat back in my chair and stared out the window at the darkness. Sweet Mary Madonna, she had a kid. My ass felt numb so I shifted around a bit. Lila sailed back into the kitchen, a fancy quilted scrapbook held to her chest.
"Here now, this is my Langley." She said after sitting down and flipping the scrapbook open. I looked down to see a young man who looked so much like Slash from Guns-N-Roses all he needed was a top hat and a smoke dangling from his lip to take the tribute band on the road.
"His mother was white," I said and looked at Lila for confirmation. She nodded then turned another page. "He's how old now?" I enquired as she flipped page after page.
"Fifteen. He'll be sixteen in November." Right. She had already mentioned that. Damn but I was rattled.
"Well, he seems to be a good-looking kid if he didn't have all that hair in his face," I commented and she beamed with parental pride.
"He is quite good-looking, and smart. Also, on the road to some trouble." The glow of pride left her eyes to be replaced with worry. "He's been getting into some misadventures."
Our eyes met over the scrapbook. She was sitting on something big, something that she was worried about telling me. I could see the trepidation. Blessed Mother save me from what that something big might be.

Talk of Paths & Decisions Made
Life can lead us down some interesting roads. We may start out on one path and follow that to the end, never swerving off to investigate any new trails we come across. Other times, we place our foot on a hidden pathway, one that seems to appear magically as we walk through the woodland, drawn to investigate the secrets of the forest on this new path. Once we have both feet on that trail we realize that this trail is the one we are now meant to tread.
After careful consideration over several months, I've come to realize that while I greatly enjoy penning M/F romances, my heart lies in the LGBTQ romance genre. Therefore, after I fulfill my contractual obligations for the Venom series and any contracted novellas, I'll be transitioning to exclusively writing LGBTQ romances.
This has been a difficult decision as M/F romance has been very good to me, and it will always have a treasured place in my memories. I love my Wildcats and Venom players! Leaving their genre behind will be terribly hard. However, since the first time I wrote an LGBTQ story, the love for the LGBTQ genre has slowly overtaken my heart.
As many of you know, I am a staunch supporter and ally for LGBTQ rights. I've seen the joy on the faces of gay young adults when they hear I'm planning to write a lesbian romance, a bisexual romance or a transgender romance. These stories MUST be told. These characters MUST be allowed to speak and be heard. By writing romances that cover the rainbow of humanity I, and my talented fellow LGBTQ authors, are striving to show the world that love truly knows no gender. This is a message that I feel deeply and carry in my soul.
So yes, I may be leaving a certain genre behind but I'll be stepping into one that holds my heart, soul, and creativity. I look forward to the future and the stories that I hope to bring to you, my friends, family, and fans.
Skate hard and love deeply,
V.L.

Tuesday Tales - Hug
Hello! It`s time for Tuesday Tales.

"Well, as soon as Joseph mentioned this to his parents, they told him that he was stupid and weird to want boobies since he was a boy. Therefore, Joseph, who did notwant to be stupid or weird, never told anyone about how badly he wanted to be a girl. He hid it deep inside and his parents thought he forgot about being weird and stupid. They were happy to see that phase pass. Joseph dated girls and went to college where he studied theater while his parents thought he was majoring in accounting."
"You'd be a terrible accountant, baby. You can't even balance your checkbook."
She smiled warmly and reached out to pat my cheek. "You do know me well, Seamus." I nodded. Her hand drifted back to her cup of coffee. "During Joseph's 'Lost Years' as I now call them, he dated a young woman. She was very nice and had a lovely smile. Joseph impregnated this young woman."
Lila threw a quick glance in my direction. I stared openly at her. "So you have a kid?"
"Yes, he's fifteen now. I know that you must think I'm a horrid person for not telling you about this sooner, but I have crossed that bridge too early in a relationship before and it sent the man running."
My thoughts were whirling. Lila sat there waiting for me to say something so I forced something out.
"I told you I'm not going anywhere. So, you have a kid who lives with his mom."
"Well, yes, he did for a few years but she passed away when he was five from a congenital heart disease. Langley, that's his name," she said and I bobbed my head. "I had just begun to embrace who I was by the time Langley needed a parental figure. When I appeared at the funeral to ask for my son Marlene's parents took one look at the big black man in a stunning aqua dress and decided that Langley should not be raised by a cross-dressing pedophile. Their exact words, not mine."
"Oh baby." Anger ignited in my gut.
"It was very rude and hurtful of them, of course, but I acquiesced to their demands to raise my son. It was my worst failure as a woman but I was young and new to myself. My self-confidence was not where it is today." She looked like she needed a hug but when I moved to embrace her, she waved it off with a determined look settling on her face.
