Meet the Cast- Twin Soul Novels

Picture Meet Annette Anderson. Once she was a young beauty living in the heart of York, England, who became infatuated with a boy all the girls sought after. She followed him everywhere and basked in his attention, until one night he stole her innocence in an alleyway and a world of darkness swallowed her whole.

From that night she had begun to see the creatures of other worlds. Their deformities and unnaturalness drove her to the brink of madness. They followed her, plagued her dreams and whispered evil doings in her mind.

Her parents wouldn't believe her when she begged them for help. Her perfect little sister was too young to understand. And so, she fled. Making her way to London, tracking down a demon owned bar and meeting a demon who would change her life for ever. After succumbing to a drug promised to save her tainted soul, Annette is weakened and a presence invades. Lilith, an ancient and powerful demon wishes to possess her. The blonde seductress, Lilith, is entrapped when Annette proves too powerful to own, her human soul refusing to leave. Instead, they are forced to reside together in an uneasy relationship. The first years of their cohabitation are ones of blood and slaughter, of fights for control. A battle Annette must strive to win daily. After decades of hardships they work for balance. All the while they know both of their souls belong to another world, to another demon deep beneath the surface of the mortal world. They belong to a Prince of Hell who requires them to bring home his escaped demons before they enlighten humans to their existence. Picture Picture A spate of murders plague London, forcing Annette out of her newfound peace. Detective Michael Daltry seeks her out when all those he asks for help whispers her name. She is known as the Living Demon to most supernatural beings and Human Whore to those who believe she is an abomination, a joke to demonkind. In Michael's presence, Lilith is somehow unable to gain any control. She barely has the strength to whisper to Annette when he is close. Annette is drawn to whatever power Michael might have and soon begins to wonder if there is far more to him than even he knows. After denying the Prince's calls for Annette to return to him and more demon murders occuring, Annette is ordered to the Hellworld Lilith's souls belongs to. Her master, the Prince, tells her to find the demon murderer and bring him back for punishment. He sends Rowan, an Incubi demon, to escort her and help her until the demon is caught. He is also to watch over her in the eventuality that Annette decides to flee or ignore her orders. Rowan is intrigued by Annette's ability to hold within her two souls, a human and a demon, and survive to tell the tale. But there are strengths Annette possesses unknown to her. There is a rare gift once thought wiped out by the Princes for it threatens their kind. It is only Annette's passion and strength and her ability to pull allies to her, that has kept her alive so far. But, Annette is soon to learn the truth of what she is, of what this could mean and unknown to her are the Powers above and below that are playing their own games with her soul. Clockwork Alchemist (The Thief's Apprentice #1) Book Review

Picture Author- Sara C Roethle

My Rating- 4 STARS

Synopsis- Arhyen is the self-declared finest thief in London. The mission was simple. Steal a journal from Fairfax Breckinridge, one of the greatest alchemists of the time.

Arhyen hadn’t expected to find Fairfax himself, with a dagger in his back. Nor had he expected his automaton daughter, Liliana. Suddenly entrenched in a mystery too great for him to fully comprehend, he must rely on the help of a wayward detective, and an automaton who claims she has a soul, to piece together the clues laid before them. Will Arhyen uncover the true source of Liliana’s soul in time, or will London plunge into a dark age of nefarious technology, where only the scientific will survive?

My Review- Clockwork Alchemist is set in what I think is a mildly steampunkish version of Victorian style London as it is becoming more industrialised and using the beginnings of machinery to take over hundreds of people's jobs. Arhyen, the self proclaimed best thief in London, finds a female automaton in the house of an Alchemist while stealing a journal for his most recent employer. Unable to think of the automaton, who introduces herself as Liliana, as a machine when she looks and act so human, Arhyen agrees to take her with him when she asks to leave. This decision complicates his seemingly simple task and takes him and Liliana, along with detective Ephraim, on a wild adventure.

Clockwork Alchemist is packed with fun adventure, dark mystery and action. It is very well written from the POV's of Arhyen and Liliana, their monologues and thoughts and feelings bonding with the reader every step of the way. I like the way the mystery unfolded piece by piece and threw in twists to keep you unsure of who the villains really were. Double crosses and triple crosses had me wondering who would ultimately be trustworthy, I even suspected one of the heroes of the story many times.

Arhyen and Liliana are a fantastic duo along with witty and calm Ephraim. Their individual personalities are fun to read and invoke many emotions. I adored Liliana. She was such a strong girl who wasn't sure of her place in this human world and why she could feel more than a machine had any business to. I can't help but feel there is far more to learn about how she works and why she has emotions and desires beyond the explanation in this book. Arhyen is a lovable thief. He is a gentleman, polite, full of heart and strong enough to take care of himself in deadly circumstances.

This is a tale of self discovery, what truly makes someone 'human' and acceptance. There is a hint of romance but above all Aryhen and Liliana compliment each other, and their friendship fills the parts of them that they never knew were missing.

Such a great gem here and I can't wait to see what mischief they cause in book 3. This trio are fun, daring and attract trouble at every turn. Clockwork Alchemist is well worth picking up and trying if you like alot of adventure and mystery, a hint of Steampunk and a step back through history.

(I stumbled upon this book while browsing Amazon- It is available on Kindle Unlimited)

Pucked Off (Pucked Series #5) by Helena Hunting Review

Picture Author- Helena Hunting

My Rating- 4 STARS

Synopsis- I’m NHL defenseman Lance Romero, AKA Lance “Romance."

I’m notorious for parties and excess. I have the most penalty minutes in the league. I get into the most fights. I take the most hits. I’m a player on and off the ice. I’m the one women with no inhibitions want.

Not because I like the notoriety, but because I don’t know how to be any other way.

I have secrets. Ones I shared with the wrong person, and she used them against me. Sometimes she still does. I should cut ties. But she makes it difficult, because she’s the kind of bad I deserve.
At least that’s what I believed until someone from my past gets caught up in my present. She’s all the good things in this world. She lights up my dark.

I shouldn’t want her.

But I do.

I should leave her alone.

But I won’t.

My review- Another great book in the series! Helena Hunting is a great writer. She really makes you feel emotion and protection for these former bad boys/players. Lance 'Romance' Romero has been seen throughout all the previous books in the Pucked Series and comes across as worse than all the other teammates put togeher. He is notorious for taking part in threesomes, sleeping with many different women and throwing news worthy parties in his home. He is aggressive on the ice while playing hockey and spends much of his time in the penalty box, sporting a fresh bruise. But inside he is about as broken as it gets. Since being beaten by his mother from an early age and riddled with guilt, he can barely stand being touched by anyone, expecially females.

He tried to have something real with his ex trainer, Tash, and she proved to be nothing but a manipulator. Lance doesn't believe he is worth enough to be treated any other way. He is sinking deeper and deeper in to self hate and harmful behaviours until he lays eyes on redhead Poppy, a girl with a beautiful soul. He vaguely remembers her from the past and wants to be around her more. Her touch doesn't make him feel sick and he craves it.

This is a really lovely story (Though to this day Lily and Randy remain my favourite, though Lance takes an easy second place). I loved watching the love and acceptance in this book. Helena Hunting attaches us to the main players from the first sentence and holds you until the end. Lance's POV is heartbreaking and it is worth reading all over again.

Lilith

*Adult Content*

After a traumatic event suffered at a young age, Annette Anderson believes she has been cursed with the 'Sight'. The ability to see the Hellworlds and demon souls drove her in to a world of sin and sex, attracting the unwanted attention of the Underground. After months of torture, the She-demon, Lilith, attempted to take Annette's body and drive out her human soul. Unexpectedly, Annette's soul fought back, trapping Lilith and leaving them to reside together on a shaky truce.

Along with the help of Michael Daltry, a detective with the Metropolitan Police and Rowan, a demon ordered to protect them, Annette and Lilith must work together to uncover the reasons behind a spate of grisly murders that has hit the the busy city of London.

If they fail, it will truly be Hell on Earth! Fateless

*Adult Content*

Caring for Calum and his newly acquired demon soul is harder than Annette Anderson ever imagined. His vicious temper and uncontrolled desires are exhausting. Both are suffering under the pressure of their new roles as 'Master' and 'Inferior'.

Annette seeks out her old business partner and is set to work running security for the Demon owned club, The Red Ribbon. It seems like the escape she needs until a corpse is found by her team, murdered in a way neither she or Lilith has seen before. The murder stirs up a face from the past and a world of pain, danger and maybe even war awaits her. Annette calls on all her bravery and strength to track the killer, even if its ends up destroying her.

Pucked Under (Pucked #4.5) by Helena Hunting Book Review

Picture Author- Helene Hunting

My Rating- 5 STARS

Synopsis- Randy Ballistic and Lily LeBlanc are head-over-heels, bed-breakingly, screaming orgasmically in love. But even they have their challenges, mostly outside of the bedroom.

With the off-season coming to a close and the boys gearing up for training camp, one more weekend of fun is the perfect way to welcome the new season.

The entire crew piles into vehicles and drives to Alex and Violet’s Chicago cottage for a few days of relaxation―and hopefully a chance for Randy to shake the anxiety that’s been plaguing him.
Accidental wardrobe malfunctions, typical Violet inspired overshares, and a whole lot of private time round out the perfect weekend getaway.

But the moment they return to the city all of Randy’s angst resurfaces with the arrival of a surprise houseguest.

My Review- Another fantastic book in the series. Can Lily and Randy be any cuter?

They are, by far, my favourite couple in the series, though I do enjoy Alex and Violet (Book one in the series) purely for the humor. But for caseloads of sweetness it has to be Lily and Randy.

Randy and Lily are heading for a weekend getaway with previous couples from the Pucked series before the men must start their Ice Hockey season. We follow them playing, water skiing, joining humourous conversations with Violet and her verbal nonsense about many things people think but never say, and plenty of sex. But there are troubles in paradise when Randy and Lily come home to an unexpected house guest that sets Randy on edge and has him doubting himself and the type of person he is or might become in the future. I also loved watching the couple's awkwardness around Miller's and Sunny's new bundle of joy.

I can only hope for another book dedicated to these two. I want to see where they go in the future. I want to watch Randy believe he can be a better man than his unfaithful, waste of space, father. I want to see them think about starting a family and read about the adventures in between.

Lily and Randy show love in the best ways. They feel safe showing vulnerabilities to each other and help to heal them together without judgment.

Absolutely loved this! 5 stars the whole way!

Norwegian Experiences and Inspiration

I have been extremely lucky in recent months. One reason is due to meeting a very kind man from Norway over a year ago. So in November 2016, I decided to do something HUGE with my life.

I come from a very small city in England, never even owned a passport until I was 30 years old and believed the best place I would see in my life is a very popular seaside location called Skegness (Which we little Englanders often refer to as Skegvegas). It has casinos...I mean the 2p slot machines where you can win little plastic toys and whack'a'mole for tokens. It has restaurants....I prefer the Chippy with salt an vinegar though, and those dinky doughnuts...warm...dinky...doughnuts. It has the nightlife!...maybe a few places with some good music, cheap alcohol and a 'dodge the creepy perv in the corner' vibe. But I love the place....

Until I made the huge decision to move to Norway, to do something I would never have done before. I thought I was destined to stay in England forever. I hated the thought of flying, admittedly I have now cried twice on the plane (There was a fuel leak! that was legitimate fear!), I also had the hard task of being the one who didn't know too much of the language and the culture. I didn't want those things to stop me. Separating from my partner after spending only a week or 2 together, every few months was becoming painful.

And so I did it! I moved! and the experiences have been crazy and I want to share a few of my favourites. Many of the things I have seen here will be going in to my new writing project Jade Sorrows. I'm surrounded by amazing scenery and inspiration.

These are some of the first things I saw once I was settled in my new home.  Coming in time for Christmas was pure perfection. It is a huge family celebration for my partner's family. It will stick with me for the rest of my life no matter where it takes me. I have never seen such beauty before. And then there is Oslo and all the wonderful sights around it. It is rich in culture, full of so many different types of people and beautiful to see. My next project will feature mountains, wintry seasons, vast oceans and rough terrain in which to travel. Everything I see here fuels the imagination and the desire to write has started to come back after a long dry spell. I guess it is true when they say a change of scenery can change a person and how they see the world. After spending all my life in England and never being happy, I truly believe that I am a very different person in Norway.

Check back for more Norwegian inspirations and snippets of my writing. I can't wait to share my new projects with you.

Courage (Mark of Nexus #2) by Carrie Butler Book Review

Picture Author- Carrie Butler

My Rating- 4 STARS

Synopsis- Making a deal with the bad guys wasn’t the highlight of Rena Collins’ semester, but hey, it saved her boyfriend. Now, in order to appease the human-altering organization known as ERA, she’ll crawl under their microscope while they study the Mark of Nexus and plot their eye-glazed version of the future--until she realizes that’s not all they’re plotting.

Wallace Blake has always known his girlfriend is unlike most girls. But now that information has surfaced regarding the two bloodlines that balance his supernatural race, he finally understands why. Rena belongs to one of them. She’s been augmenting his power, all along...

Enter: Corynn Catley. Brought into the country under the guise of an internship, she’s intended to become ERA’s secret weapon. Kind of. Her abilities cancel out Wallace’s, rendering him powerless, but that’s exactly what he’s always wanted. Too bad it only works when his girlfriend’s not around.

All the while, Rena fails to notice the crush her geeky best friend, Aiden Ross, is nursing. He’d give anything for her to see him in a new light--even reinvent himself through questionable means--but there’s a reason people are told to be careful what they wish for. Finding the courage to tell her could put everyone’s lives in danger

My Review-  A great sequel to Strength. Rena continues to be the strong, caring and stubborn girl she showed in book 1. I love reading from her POV. she is smart and can see through lies and the tricks of her enemies, despite the fact she made a bargain to help them to save the lives of those she cares for.

I do like Wallace but sometimes he can be a little dumb, a bit too trusting of those who enter their lives with little justification of their roles. Enter Corynn, while a very likable new character, it is obvious that as her power cancels out Dynari abilities she was there to stir trouble between Wallace and Rena. His strength has always been in the way of their happiness and Rena's power boosts his to the point he can barely touch her without leaving bruises. So while I understand why Wallace is happy to be able to hold someone normally for once, did he not think that finding that kind of relief with another girl would not affect Rena? The one thing she couldn't offer him?

This drama was great and really tested them as a couple. Rena chose to try and let the one she loves have true happiness even if it hurt her to the core. Wallace loves her but it usually takes him quite a while to catch up with things going on around him. It is nice that he still has trust and sees the world a bit more positively than Rena, but that girl is sharp and sees the layers of traps from their enemies.

The plot is really heating up in the series. Courage was aptly titled and changed many characters drastically. Our lovable geek, Aiden, is something much different now and I believe his part in the next book will be bigger. It feels like a war is heading closer and everyone must choose a side before it hits.

Great book, can't wait to read the next
