Random Thought - How Will History Remember Us
How will history remember us? Do you ever think about that when your fixing your hair in the latest style or going along with the latest fashion trend? Technology that we think is top of the line will most likely be obsolete in another ten years.
Will there be people that dress up in the clothes of our times and teach about the primitive ways we lived? Will our artifacts be housed behind glass in a museum? Children a thousand years from now could be visiting historical sites of our long gone civilization like we do today with the ruins in Egypt, Greece and Rome.
I'm constantly thinking about how what we do now will impact the way people view us in the future. We refer to the stock market crash of the 1930's as the Great Depression but do you think that when the people of the time were actually going through it that they thought of it that way? They most likely just thought, "I'm hungry."
I envision a thousand years from now people forming historical societies such as we do now and dressing in "period clothing", holding meetings to discuss every detail of how we lived and being as "authentic" as possible, scolding those who aren't. Much like the Civil War re-enactors of today.
Whatever we do now will most likely be remembered for a long time to come, especially with the internet and social media documenting every aspect and milestone in our lives.
Food for thought.

Life should be simple for Cassie.
For the small population of Earth survivors who live on the Space Station Hope everything they do is planned and scheduled, down to the cyclical food menus, their roles in the station, even how many children they have.
Despite rigid controls directing her life, Cassie feels more out of synch than ever and worries she won’t find a place for herself within the station community. Perhaps that’s because she’s hearing things inside her head that can’t possibly be real. Or maybe it’s the regular elopements of her peers, heading off to a romantic future in the Married Quarter of the space station, whilst she’s never even been attracted to a boy – no matter how hard her best friend Ami pushes them at her. Then there are the odd questions her work placement partner Balik keeps raising. His questions are just as troubling for her as his distracting smiles and eyes that seem to see inside her.
As Cassie draws closer to Balik she finds that everything else in her life begins to shift. He tells her things that call into question the system they live within. She can't believe he is right, but at the same time she finds it hard to deny the sincerity of his ideas. Could there be a connection between Cassie’s problems and Balik’s questions? The truth will drag them both to a terrifying and deadly conclusion beyond anything they could have imagined.

Reviews:
Always There is one of the most emotionally complex and riveting books I have read in some time. The book opens with a group of close friends meeting up to celebrate Kelly's engagement, but soon after she learns that her fiancé has been in a tragic car accident.
The problem with tackling grief and sadness is that too many writers are unable to harness these powerful emotions and subsequently lose control of their story. K. T. King never falls into this trap, Always There portrays its characters with deep sincerity but also builds a gripping story that this reader found hard to put down.
The biggest compliment I can pay the writing skills of King, is that when I finished the book I felt like I had spent a lifetime with these characters. So much happens to them in the confines of this incredibly moving book, that I found myself cheering the wonderful ending! King has crafted a timeless tale of love and friendship, with particular emphasis on the latter. Throughout the book, this small group of friends demonstrate every emotion possible, from love to betrayal. But at their core is a loyalty that binds both them and this magical book.
If you are a fan of romance and drama, you must read Always There.

K.T. King, doesn't just take you on a journey with friends, but makes you feel like you actually know each and everyone of them, causing your emotions to get caught up with every turn. The issues that these friends have to deal with are very realistic, and makes me relive the past with the group of friends that remained close with me. Though I was really sad with the death of one of the friends, and very angry with yet another one, I realize these things had to happen. It makes the beauty towards the end all the more dear. This story will stay with me forever. K.T. King makes you hang on to this group of character's that were created and is a very, talented writer. You will definitely laugh with this group of characters, cry with them and Mike will become one of your favorites! (I love that guy!) If you just want a great book to curl up with and read...THIS IS IT!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A Wonderful Book! K T King has been able to write about the reality of loss and love of family and friends and each level of those emotions and make it into a great book. From the happiness of friendship, to shock, betrayal, despair, loneliness, depression, and love again she covers all of it. She proves that love, light and hope can come out to be the winner when the whole world seems to be falling apart. Highly recommended.

After witnessing Death himself procure the spirits of her slain parents, seventeen-year-old Minky Rea must make a choice—one that bears on the final destination of her eternal soul.
Grief-stricken by her parents’ sudden passing, Minky discovers that not only has her traumatic experience triggered her innate ability to convene with the dead but it has also given her the power to enter their executioners’ dreams. Unfortunately, the threat of their mortal killers pales in comparison to the immortal danger Minky has unknowingly invited by acknowledging the presence of Death the night he collected the souls of her parents. When she is forced to juggle her menacing nightmares and the continuous pursuit of the ostentatiously hot angel of death named Nicolaus, she finds the only hope she has of maintaining her sanity is to rely on her aunt, Maggie Hayes for stability and comfort. Ultimately, Minky must choose between embracing her destiny of becoming a 'death delivery girl' with Nicolaus or relinquishing her fated path by ending her own life in order to protect her aunt.

Random Thought - Ambulance
This doesn't really qualify as a random thought but its absurdity was too profound not to mention.
While tending to some medical needs, a scene played out before me that was, to me at least, extremely ridiculous. The building that I was walking into was a medical office building that was literally located in the exact same parking lot as the local hospital. Parked out front was an ambulance, lights flashing and all. Two EMT's emerged and steered a bed into the building and went up in the elevator.
Apparently it was impossible for the person who needed the medical care to walk next door. The thing that makes it even more absurd is the fact that the ambulances are housed about two miles away. So that means someone had to call it in from the medical office building, the ambulances then had to drive through four stop lights, park in front, pick up the patient and then drive two feet to the entrance of the hospital.
America at its finest.

Trade winds to Meluhha' harks back to Bronze Age Mesopotamia. It involves adventure, strife and love in young Samasin's life in which swift events chase him to a strange land 3,000 Km. across the sea.
Implicated in a foreigner's murder, he is saved from a gory sentence by a rare event which is actually recorded on clay tablets excavated in ancient Babylon. He flees to 'Meluhha', Indus Valley Civilization, in search of Siwa Saqra whose name was uttered by the alien before he died. There besides Siwa, he also meets two damsels. Anu is a Sumérian who poses as a Meluhhan because she is on a lookout for a couple of faceless men for revenge. Velli, who wins his heart, is still devoted to a person who had jilted her. Interactions with all three lead Samasin on the trail of a diabolic trade that is ruining the lives of youngsters and women back in Mesopotamia.
The book was inspired by archaeological sites in India. The author happened to visit the ancient port at Lothal during one of his extensive tours as an engineer. When he read about explorer Thor Heyerdahl's 1977 voyage in a reed ship from the Euphrates to the Indus, his technical background spurred him to delve deeper into the 3rd millennium BC 'globalization' between Indus Valley and Mesopotamia. That was when 'Trade winds to Meluhha' started taking shape in his mind.
