This doesn't really qualify as a random thought but its absurdity was too profound not to mention.
While tending to some medical needs, a scene played out before me that was, to me at least, extremely ridiculous. The building that I was walking into was a medical office building that was literally located in the exact same parking lot as the local hospital. Parked out front was an ambulance, lights flashing and all. Two EMT's emerged and steered a bed into the building and went up in the elevator.
Apparently it was impossible for the person who needed the medical care to walk next door. The thing that makes it even more absurd is the fact that the ambulances are housed about two miles away. So that means someone had to call it in from the medical office building, the ambulances then had to drive through four stop lights, park in front, pick up the patient and then drive two feet to the entrance of the hospital.
America at its finest.
