Random Thought - How Will History Remember Us

How will history remember us? Do you ever think about that when your fixing your hair in the latest style or going along with the latest fashion trend? Technology that we think is top of the line will most likely be obsolete in another ten years.

Will there be people that dress up in the clothes of our times and teach about the primitive ways we lived? Will our artifacts be housed behind glass in a museum? Children a thousand years from now could be visiting historical sites of our long gone civilization like we do today with the ruins in Egypt, Greece and Rome.

I'm constantly thinking about how what we do now will impact the way people view us in the future. We refer to the stock market crash of the 1930's as the Great Depression but do you think that when the people of the time were actually going through it that they thought of it that way? They most likely just thought, "I'm hungry."

I envision a thousand years from now people forming historical societies such as we do now and dressing in "period clothing", holding meetings to discuss every detail of how we lived and being as "authentic" as possible, scolding those who aren't. Much like the Civil War re-enactors of today.

Whatever we do now will most likely be remembered for a long time to come, especially with the internet and social media documenting every aspect and milestone in our lives.

Food for thought.
