Hi Steve -
glad you enjoyed it. I have a day job as International Editor of Channel 4 News, so there was quite a lot of juggling time! It took me a year to read the diaries and lots of other biographies and interview ppl in the UK, all the while doing my job which involves a lot of travelling. Then I took four months off for a Fellowship at a US university where I had to teach a bit, but could do all my research in the USA and start writing. Then I went back to work, and then took another three months off work to write, So the whole process took three years, but most of that time I was also working. Looking back, I'm not sure how I did it.... oh and the another year editing, researching photos etc.....(less)

“Yet Marie’s was a true faith, and she believed it utterly. She still had her American seriousness of purpose, her heart proudly visible on her sleeve, uncorrupted by British cynicism. She was the champion of bearing witness so that even if no one stopped the wars, they could never say they had not known what was happening.”
Lindsey Hilsum, In Extremis: The Life and Death of the War Correspondent Marie Colvin

“The real difficulty is having enough faith in humanity to believe that someone will care,” she said.”
