Gratitude: A Thanksgiving Story
Publication Date: October 31, 2013
Every year we celebrate Thanksgiving. The most boring of all the major holidays. For most it means a pleasant (or not so happy) night with the relatives. A full meal with all the trimmings, or at least an evening at a Chinese restaurant. For some though it means darker things...
Like having to leave the comforts of a very nice home in the suburbs to serve food to the homeless for an entire meal.
This is the story of one such family, and their new friends, working at a soup kitchen one Thanksgiving. It turns out to be a lot less then boring, and in the end, they'll all understand what they have to truly be thankful for.
*Note: This story is a "quick read novella". That means it's about a quarter of the size of a regular novel. That means it's the perfect story to get you into the holiday mood, and pass off to other family members!
Enjoy!
Oh, and happy holidays, everybody.

Gwen Farris book soon!
It should be finished tomorrow (first draft! Then I have to edit, all the while working on my huge secret project.)
So, yes, still well in line for the fifteenth of next month. Also, on the first of November, Gratitude: A Thanksgiving Story, is going to be out. You should read it, because it will mean that you've read at least one real Thanksgiving story in your life.
:)
Now, about the special and truly secret project. It's really secret, but, if I find out that I'm doing all right with it, and that I'm not just imagining the whole thing as being good, then it will be out in about... a week. The first one at least.
Of course, if I find out that I'm secretly failing at life, then it won't. Because, well, you know, it only counts as a real fail, if you put it out for the whole world to see, right?
(So far I'm really excited though! Here are a few clues: This is big. It's free and will be coming out on a weekly basis. At least if people like it.)
Yay! I'm very jazzed about the whole thing. To tell the truth.
But, regardless, The new Gwen book (The Bethany Westmorland mystery is the book that Gwen is writing in the real book. Don't worry, there is only about a half page of that written out for people to read.) Right now, I'm thinking of calling it "Tremble In The Dark".
:)

Interactive Story book
I'm just going to come forward and admit that the first two and a half months of this project are where anyone with a bit of will and some ideas can have the most impact on things.
Just in case anyone missed it, next year there will be a series of four books, each one coming out in three month intervals, in which people that come here and make a suggestion, and vote on things, will get to have massive say in things. I'll do the writing work, but everything else is going to come from the minds of the public.
This is your chance, as a group, to tell the world what you really want, instead of just having to take what you are given like Oliver Twist and hungrily beg "Please, sir, may I have some more?"
Having worked with people before, I know that it almost always takes about two and a half months for things to really take off, however. That means the core group, the people that jump in now, will have disproportional influence. Bragging rights too!
So, the first thing I think people should do is come up with the genre they want to see things in.
I personally tend to write Fantasy/Sci-fi or Fantasy Horror.
That doesn't mean I can't write other things as well, however!
We should narrow down the options to about six or less for the vote however. Based on what you like to see, and what you think will sell.
(The best selling book genre is generally Romance.)
That or come up with an argument for why another Genre is a good idea!
I've long held that Christian stories could use more good works for instance.
So, what do you think? Here are some ideas to get things started, but feel free to lobby for one over the others, suggest things I missed, or even make up your own, totally new thing!
Sci-fi
Fantasy
Young Adult
Christian
Other Religion
Horror
Literary
True Crime
Suspense
Romance
Erotica
Holiday
Cooking
Non-fiction specific task "How-to"
And so on. Put your ideas below this, and the most catching, or repeated things will be put in for the actual voting!
We should also mention tone.
I, personally, would like the first vote to have five or six decisions on it, and for each book to be decided by a series of three different votes or so?
That's just me, so if anyone has a better/different idea of how things should be done right now, make that public! To the best of my knowledge, no one has ever tried this before, so we are literally making up the rules as we go along.
Power to the people!

The Lament book 2 is out! Off Center
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F...
Pran is now a Bard again, thanks to some very high level help, from places so high up she can scarcely believe it's really happening. That doesn't mean her work is over, since it's now her job to help arrange a way to get a spy into the halls of power, to uncover a secret and ancient plot.
Things aren't exactly as she thought they were however, and now she has to suspect her own friends and comrades of being in on the designs.
In the end, her place is assured however. Pran is going to be with the winners, no matter what.

Upcoming News
What's New?
Here's a list of what's coming next, as well as short term plans for new books and writing projects!
Posted September 17th, 2013
October 2013 (0n the fifteenth of the month.)
The Lament: Book Two
"Off Center"
Apprentice Bard Pran is on her way to meet her new Master, the High Bard Clarice, when some very unusual things happen. Thrown into intrigue and more drama than even a young Bard can shake a stick at, we find out a lot more about her, and her past.
This book takes us into the mind of Pran in a way that very few will really expect, and has enough twists and turns to keep even the most staid reader on the edge of their seats!
(Or at least interested. It isn't an action adventure after all.)
The things below are currently planned, but may change, depending on mental health, ability to sit for long stretches and other factors too complicated and numerous to list here. (I haven't made them up yet. I'd put these in at about a 90% likelihood however.)
November 2013
(For the first.)
"Plentitude: A Thanksgiving Tale"
A family of four and some new friends are taken hostage by a crew of wayward bandits on Thanksgiving, while working in a local soup kitchen.
By pulling together and being truly thankful for what they have, they just might manage to get everyone out alive and mostly intact.
(This piece will probably run about 40,000 words, which is right on the cusp of a very long novella or very short novel. It's a humor piece, with slightly comedic overtones. Unless I mess it up, and then it's horror. I'm trying for funny though, so, fingers crossed?)
November 2013
(For the 15th)
"A Tidy Sum: A Bethany Westmorland Mystery"
(Name subject to change up until about three days before it goes to press!)
Government agent and Detective Bethany Westmorland and her faithful, as well as sassy and a slightly odd, sidekick, Gwen, have to stop a series of supernatural murders taking place on a train. The only problem is that the killings aren't supernatural at all, and something very powerful is stopping any magic from working at the time of the events making normal procedures useless. If they don't find the culprit in time, another woman dies a horrible death.
Being that they both fit the profile, there's a bit of added incentive to figure out what's going on, before it's too late.
When magic fails, wits and a little bit of good old fashioned police work will have to make do!
December 2013
(For the 1rst)
Untitled (and unwritten) Christmas story!
In which something big, momentous and Christmas oriented will happen! It will change the lives of (character and character) forever and bring the (character family name) family back together.
Filled with love and the holiday spirit, they'll all learn a valuable lesson and help save Christmas for (group, or Oscar bait sounding sad sack individual).
Possible cameo by Santa and other non-trademarked but well known Christmas Characters, like Mrs. Clause, and perhaps Mortimer the Elf!
Or it will be something different than that.
We'll see.
(For the 15th)
Young Ancients: Tiera
"Untitled and possibly hinting of darkness"
This is going to be the last book in the main/first arc.
You can probably guess what it will be about, but if not, well... it will be different than that.
