I’m so flattered to get this wonderful review. It’s readers who enjoy my work that make all of this worth while… 5.0 out of 5 stars Great StoryThis is a great story. It is a short prequel to Valens Rise where we get to meet Larinda, Jemma's sister, and follow her journey of coming into her destiny, the discovery of, and search for her sister. This is a well written short and a wonderful addition to the series. I would recommend, even though this is a prequel, reading this book after book one, Valens Rise, to... Read the full review ›

New Book Descriptions
I know I have been away. A lot is going on and I haven't decided on any new characters based on myth from around the world - instead I am working on two new books, these new descriptions, new books covers and a dozen other things, but I haven't forgotten about you. I may not be able to post weekly for a while but I will post when I have something exciting (at least in my mind) to say.
First, take a look at the new descriptions I have created for the Valens books. I hope you find these more exciting and enticing than the originals. Feel free to leave a comment.
Next, if you have access to amazon dot com take a look at the newest reviews. I love them People are saying they like the books and can't wait for more. Now that for me is very exciting.
Finally, thank you all for coming to read these words, and for returning again and again. Happy reading. I'll be back soon.
Valens Remembered - Novella
As Larinda Nix Thomas buries her adoptive parents, who died in a deadly echo of the accident that took her birth parents, hidden documents reveal that she is being threatened by a sinister force and that she shouldn't trust even her closest allies.

Valens Remembered - Novella
As Larinda Nix Thomas buries her adoptive parents, who died in a deadly echo of the accident that took her birth parents, hidden documents reveal that she is being threatened by a sinister force and that she shouldn't trust even her closest allies.
Fate demands she accept her place among the Valens as a shape shifter, a unicorn, which brings more changes to her life than she could have imagined and puts her on a collision course with her ultimate destiny. In this prequel to the Valens series myth is rewritten, fantasy and science fiction blend to create a chilling story of death, loss, and discovery.
Valens Rise - Book 1
When Jemma Nix, a shape shifting phoenix discovers her family's legacy, she is overwhelmed with distrust and doubt. Her entire family may have been murdered. Her mentor may be using her in a deadly pursuit of power. Confronted with these facts, Jemma begins to suspect that those closest to her are mad. Refusing to believe their claims of a secret race, she pushes away the one man who may be able to help. The one man who she may love. Rather than face the reality of her new life, Jemma make a fateful decision. One that places the Valens in jeopardy and forces them to face a deadly, genetically engineered threat.
Valens Revenge - Book 2
The Valens, shape shifters, are on a quest to avenge the murder of Miranda Shaw a centaur and weapons expert at Legacy Security. Jemma Nix travels with her most trusted allies to Brazil in search of Cerberus, the force behind the creation of the genetically engineered monsters the Humani. Cerberus has but one goal for the Humani; to eradicate the Valens.
When one of Jemma's investigators vanishes no one can reach him. Declan Sedna, Jemma's private bodyguard and highly skilled special agent at Legacy Security isn't just silent. His disappearance leaves an unprecedented void in the connection she has with the Valens. She can't tell if he is dead or alive. She can't find the smallest thread of energy to help her and her team find him. The terrifying silence heralds the deaths of followers and an alarming, and incredible betrayal.

The amazing journey into writing
I do feel guilty about not posting any mystical creature descriptions of late, but my new novella has a fairy and the next book is mostly filled with people you have already learned about, so I thought I would write about WRITING!
Writing books is a mystical creation all its own. The characters swim through your mind, demanding their time on the page and even the wimps aren't always what they seem when you meet them. A crazy world that you have to put aside at times and go back to reality. And not the reality you think it might be. In today's writing world independent publishing or traditional the author has to do a lot more work to market their stories.
I admit as much as I love technology - and I do - computers, special effects, video on discs and the Internet with wireless connect - Awesome. But I also admit I didn't want a cell phone because it was like an addiction to my friends and children. I hesitated to get a laptop and a tablet and a kindle and so on and of course now I can't live without them. This has also been the way I looked at the social media - who would I friend - what would I have to say - I spend all my time trying to think up stuff to reply - well that all lasted as long as I hesitated to publish my books.
Writing is not just getting words down on a page - it is getting out there exposing who we are and the warped sense of humor we have. It is reaching out and saying buy my product but DON'T sell!! Write a blog about something you like - I love mythological characters. Tweet about what people have said about your book but also about your dog, the day you swallowed a ceramic tooth - the day you stubbed your toe and couldn't curse like a sailor because there were young children around who are like magpies and repeat every word you say.
All this marketing takes time to put together, to post on Facebook and Twitter and Goodreads and "talk" (why is writing back and forth called talking these days), and reading good things about what you have done and not so pretty comments - but even those have a message you can learn from. But more than anything all this activity makes me feel younger, more alive, more involved and more interested and I already thought I felt those things because of my family and friends.
And the whole point is - IT'S THE MOST AMAZING, SATISFYING, WONDERFUL JOB IN THE WORLD AND I HOPE I CONTINUE TO FEEL THESE WAY FOR MANY MORE YEARS!!
Happy reading and come back again for more. Who knows what you'll find next week!

Valens Requested - A Novella in the Works
Well the demon who demanded another novella won, I just finished the first draft of Valens Requested - Aiden, the Sorcerer king of the Fae request Jemma to pay her debt for the favor he granted her in and earlier book. A serial killer threatens his baby sister, a young fairy who ran away because she wanted to be a human and she keeps getting into situations that...well wait for the book. Currently it is being read by an expert on the young adult readers - a young adult herself she will let me know if Elyna acts her age - fifteen. but this is the story of the Fae, powers they have, the love of nature, the need to touch and grow the plants that feed our souls. And a few that even Elyna and her brother may not be so familiar with. Have a look at some of the wonder art that inspires my fairy dreams for Elyna.

What next?
I have to admit that I always have a list of ideas I carry around in my head about some feature of a story I want to tell, but this time is different. I have started writing a 3rd novel in the Valens series and suddenly this little fairy popped up and is insisting I share her story with you instead, or at the same time. Now she is a part of the tale of the Valens. She is the sister of the Sorcerer King of the Fae and she has run away from home. King Aidan wants to bring her home but cannot admit she left without his permission and so he can't exactly send someone after her. Enter Jemma who owes him a big favor for having assisted her by getting the Fae Council to support the Legacy position the Humani created by Cerberus are unnatural abominations against nature, though what that means is a story for another day.
The dilemma. So do I tell the sixteen year old Princess Elyna's story in a novella and then complete the next novel - or do I close my ears to her teenage angst (she's pretty demanding), delay her meeting with the stunningly handsome police officer who may be her destiny and tell the story of Valens Ruse? OR---Do I give in and see what she has to tell us before we dive into the Ruse of some Valen we've been introduced to and find out what that tale has to say?
I've notice you don't seem to like to comment, maybe the venue is to public and you are shy. So if you have an opinion, send it to me at my email sherrel@sherrellee.com and let me know what you think. In the mean time remember to get your copy of Valens Remembered at Amazon and tell you friends to pick up their copy as well.
Finally, watch for the new covers coming for Valens Rise and Valens Revenge, I can't wait to see them.
