Statement from the author of THE MAN WITH THE SEPTEMBER FACE
In my forthcoming work of fiction, THE MAN WITH THE SEPTEMBER FACE, a disillusioned FBI agent makes arrangements to release a potentially explosive dossier upon his death. He decides the time has come to put the full weight and authority of his 30+ years in law enforcement behind what he knows will be likely dismissed as an improbability: the truly dark and twisted motives that surrounded the assassination of JFK.
Today, the last of the JFK assassination documents, which have been locked up for more than 50 years, were to have been released in full today. However, stop the presses: there's been a delay. Even though these files have been available to the intelligence agencies that are worried about them for the past 25 years, there's been a last-minute appeal to hold some of them back in the interest of that timeworn, good old chestnut of "national security."
So, I'd just like to say "thank you" to the United States Government for once again showing yourself to be the same bunch of incompetent, selfish, hypocritical boobs that I always knew you were. In my book- a work of fiction that I've been working on for several years- your higher-ups are depicted as carrying on a grand tradition of somehow keeping the most undesirable and unqualified people in positions of power. Today, in an act that actually defies law, you have done little more than just reinforce what everyone knows about you, regardless of what these files actually hold.

TRUMP/JFK PAPERS
So.... Trump is releasing the last of the JFK assassination papers.
No, not really.
This action is based on legislation that was passed in 1992, after Oliver Stone's "JFK" was released. It was decided that the last of the classified assassination papers should be released- in 2017, which at the time was 25 years away.
According to the New York Times, this last batch of papers pertain to a mysterious trip to Mexico that Lee Harvey Oswald made before the assassination. It has never been 100% clear who financed this trip, or why.
Here's where things get weird.
The book that I have been working on for the past several years, that is coming out next month- THE MAN WITH THE SEPTEMBER FACE- is (spoiler alert) about the JFK assassination. One of the key plot points involves Lee Harvey Oswald's trip to Mexico. What I have written is fiction based on historical events.
Obviously I'm interested to see what these documents reveal. I don't think it will be as off-the-wall as what I came up with for this thriller, but then again, who knows why our government thought it necessary to lock up this information for over 50 years.
Just don't be tricked into thinking that Trump is somehow saving the day by "releasing" these documents. It was never his idea in the first place.
