A Fine, Versatile Author
I just love this review for my techno-thriller (with a dash of romance) Virtually Lace:
Kindle Customer49 5.0 out of 5 stars A Fine, Versatile AuthorJanuary 19, 2019Format: Kindle EditionVerified Purchase
Having already read several other books by this author, each time I finished one, I was impressed by the lyrical beauty of her descriptions and prose, coupled with some poignant backstories to her characters. Indeed, the very embodiment of literary grace.
But what bowled me over with this new book is that although there are still some lovely descriptions, she has basically switched gears and taken the reader in a new direction. A path where new genres, such as murder, science fiction, and the paranormal peek their heads out and show off their stuff. And the fact that she is able to keep us turning those pages as we wonder about a girl murdered on the beach, are exposed to corporate evil, learn about the ins-and-outs of virtual reality, and at the same time, get to see a nice, smoldering romance, well, my hats off to her. Definitely recommended!

Virtual Reality is a Large part of the Novel, but the Love is RealityJanuary 19, 2019
Format: Kindle EditionVerified Purchase
A book those who have a grasp for virtual reality will truly love. One those who love romance will adore since the romance is more than a dash, seasoned with spice, and the love is true reality, not virtual between the main characters, With a degree in computer science from the University of Michigan and career as an architect and software engineer, the author has put her education to great use in the writing of this book. It shines with her talent in creating virtual reality, but that can't outshine the love her characters have for one another in reality. Michael desperately tries to solve the murder of a young, beautiful ballerina named Lace before Ash, the love of his life, faces the same fate. She already has one thing too much in common with Lace, and he can't afford to let her end up the same way.
The landscape of the beach where the woman dies is described beautifully as is Lace, so intricately detailed that one can visualize it. There is a red herring that throws Michael off the track, but he picks up the trail again like a hound dog. Just as Ash puts herself in danger by modeling as Lace did, Michael is arrested and can't protect her. He has created a virtual simulation of Lace's murder to bring the mystery to life, but can he solve the clues in time to save Ash, especially when he is detained? Though there were a few hiccups no one else could write a novel with a virtual reality so realistic. I have put on a pair of those headpieces and played a few of those games, so I know what they're like, and this novel portrays the simulation realistically though it is virtual reality. This is one of my favorite books by this author. I'm glad I didn't miss it. She brings her talents to shine in the forefront of every description of virtual reality.
I started reading the book and couldn't put it down, so I finished it in one day. Young people who are into those games will love this book! Older people who are into love will adore the two main characters and root for Michael to save Ash before it is too late. Author BJ Robinson, Author of The Azalea Plantation Series, A Southern Spring, and others

Absalom just stands there, silent, for a long time.At last, “Don’t you quote the law to me,” he grumbles, “when you’ve broken it yourself!”“What have I done?” I ask, feeling a sudden pang in my heart, knowing where he is headed. My son steps off the stage and comes face to face with me, eyes blazing with madness. I brace myself, sensing that he is about to raise his hand against me. Instead he just smiles. Then, with a measured rhythm he quotes an altogether different section of the law, which he must have learned by heart. “If a man is found lying with the wife of another man, both of them shall die, the man who lay with the woman, and the woman. So you shall purge the evil from Israel.”His memory puts me in awe. So does the implicit blameI feel torn between two sentiments: I am proud of him and at the same time, fearful. Meanwhile Nathan steps in between us. “Your father,” he tells the prince, “has already paid a heavy price for his sin with Bathsheba, as God has stricken their first child dead, years ago.”“How is that a heavy price,” asks Absalom, “when sins are paid for at the expense of someone else’s life? Why should his child die?”I am silent. Nathan presses on. “Please, Absalom, let go of what happened back then. Besides,” he says, “as a king, your father is above the law, so the section you quoted is ill-fitted for him—”“I care nothing about this or that section!” cries Absalom. “Forget it, forget the law! What I want, what I must have, is one thing: justice!”“Do you?” says Nathan. “You sure it’s not vengeance you seek?”My son grinds his teeth. If not for the distance between us and the height of the stage, I would hug him. I would shoulder the burden of his agony. “You tell me,” I say. “How should I punish Amnon? He is my firstborn. He stands to become the future king of Israel—”“Does he deserve to be?” “Do you?”At that, a mad glint appears in his eye. In a blink he releases his hold from the back of the throne. “What kind of an example would a king such as Amnon set for others?” he demands. “When he ascends to the throne, should every father in the land hide his daughters away—or, failing that, accept their fate to be raped?”I sigh. “For now, Amnon is not in a position of power, and neither are you. There’s time, plenty of time for me to consider everything you’ve said. Which I’ll do in due course, I promise, as surely as I am the king.”At last, with a gesture that invites me to reclaim my seat upon the throne, he hops off the stage. And as he walks backwards, facing me, feigning respect, I ask myself, “Do I deserve to be respected? What kind of an example do I set for others?”

I once was lost, but now am found
Coming off the plane I noticed a group of three silent figures and by their deathly pale faces I recognized them: his mother, father, and pregnant wife. They stood together, strangely separated from the hustle bustle of the airport, waiting for me.They watched in solemn silence as I wheeled the casket toward them. It was a tense moment. No questions were asked, no tears shed. The mother, still reeling from the shock of losing her son, did not cry. Instead she bit her lips, hard. The father wrapped his arm around her for support, but he was the one that seemed closest to the verge of collapse. Then he steadied himself, somehow, and with a gentle motion, stroked the flag that wrapped the coffin. “So sorry for your loss,” I said, feeling awkward for using a phrase that was too weak and all too common to convey what I was feeling. He nodded his head to signal that he heard me, but neither he nor the mother could utter a single word. In their place, the soldier’s young wife came to me, holding something in her hand. Softly she said, "When Charlie came home on his last leave, he gave me the Marine Corps emblem off his hat. At first I refused it, knowing that without the emblem, he risked not being readmitted to the base.”I said, “Perhaps he had a premonition of what would come his way and wanted you to keep it.”“Yes,” she whispered, clutching it to her heart. “I still have it. It's a cherished memento.”Meanwhile, from out of nowhere, a lone bagpiper came by. In the midst of a busy airport he looked like an apparition from a different place and time, marching slowly towards us. As he strolled past the flag-draped casket I caught the music he was playing: it was an old song, written by an Englishman who in the early part of his life had been an outspoken atheist, libertine, and slave trader, only to find his faith after riding out a storm at sea.Amazing Grace. The sound of it was magical. It quelled the noise of people fussing, people walking all about, rushing to and fro with suitcases and stuff. At the same time it calmed the silence, the angry silence in my heart, opening it anew to sadness and to joy.It was then that the soldier’s wife took a step forward to the casket and placed the emblem on it, which for her meant the beginning of farewell, and for the fallen, the end of a long journey, the journey home. Her voice trembled as she started singing for him,
Amazing grace... How sweet the soundThat saved a wretch like meI once was lost, but now am foundWas blind, but now I see.
Her voice was so soft, so heartbreakingly delicate, and yet it made the hair rise on my head and the flesh quiver on my bones. I felt—oh, I can’t explain what I felt! It was not only grief for this man, who was a brother of mine even though I had never come to know him, but also pity for his family and for all us, civilians and soldiers, the fallen, the wounded, the loved ones back home, all the lives forever changed by this horrific war.In my childhood, my mother used to sing Amazing Grace to me in place of a lullaby, because it had always calmed me down before she tucked me in, before she said good night.
Through many dangers, toils and snares,I have already come’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far,And grace will lead me home.
The music made me think of Natasha. In a complete reversal of emotion I found myself overcoming my rage, my sense of betrayal. Suddenly I realized that whatever had caused the break between us should be set aside. It was time to accept and be accepted in return. I, too, was coming home. And I could not wait to see my father.

Before Michael spotted the body, the idea of creating a simulation of the scene occurred to him.January 1, 2019
Format: Paperback
Uvi Poznansky wears a coat of many colors. Originally from Israel where she studied Architecture and Town Planning then moving to the US where she studied Computer Science and became an expert in Software Engineering, Poznansky managed to combine the design elements of two studies into unique formats. And she has accomplished the same with the other side of her brain - making visual her ideas (she is an accomplished painter, drawer, and sculptor who has enjoyed exhibitions both in Israel and in California, her present base) and making words in poetry and in short stories and children's books.
Now Uvi introduces another aspect of her creativity – thrillers with romance – a series she titles Ash Suspense Thrillers with a Dash of Romance. This is the second volume in a series that demonstrates Uvi can take literature in any direction of her choice and succeed.
Uvi’s skill at both visual and written art is outstanding, but her history of diversity does not end there. A synopsis of this new book follows: ‘Haunted by discovering the body of Lace, a beautiful dancer whose throat has been slit, Michael sets out to create a virtual reality simulation of her murder. Can he bring the mystery to life? Can he solve its clues in time, before the killer turns on the woman he loves, Ash? Suffering some memory loss due to a violent incident in her own past, Ash is unable to identify her attacker. Despite the persistent fear, she puts her life in danger to draw out the man she suspects of killing Lace, so as to avenge her murder. Meanwhile, the cops treat Michael as their prime suspect. The only reason they haven’t arrested him yet is an urgent rescue mission, as Laguna Beach is engulfed in flames. Will Michael manage to slip away from them and save his sweetheart before it’s too late? Will he catch the murderer?’
Astonishingly well written, Uvi once again surprises us with the depth of her talent. This is one fine series to follow. Highly recommended. Grady Harp, January 19
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

A truly fascinating glimpse into the world of virtual reality. I felt as though I was in Michael's work environment whenever he was using Virtual Reality. Whether he was displaying Laguna Beach or the Northrop Grumman B -21 Raiders flying overhead, I not only was there but I could feel my heart pounding and my pulse racing...
The mystery portion of this was also excellent. Lots of intrigue builds from a young lady making her appearance at a workplace. Who is she and why is she there?
The plot is well defined, loved the mix of characters and the virtual reality portion contributed immensely. Personally, I learned a lot from the virtual reality sections. Who knew?? The clues (including the pearl necklace) and the addition of the homeless man also added so much to the solving of the crime.
Was also happy that one of the main characters was on the way to recovery at the end.....Perfect ....
Most highly recommended.

Virtually Lace is the first book released in a new series by best-selling and award-winning author Uvi Poznansky. When she asked if I would read and review this book, I saw that it is Book 2 in a series called “Ash Suspense Thrillers with a Dash of Romance.” I was surprised that I had missed Book 1 and asked if I should read that first. I was told that Book 1 will actually follow Book 2 in about a month (February 2019). Even more interesting is that Ms. Poznansky said that sometimes she becomes so intrigued by one of her characters that she decides to explore that character’s past even if it wasn’t in the original plan. No wonder her characters are so vivid and believable!
The previous series of books by Uvi Poznansky that I have read were Still Life with Memories (6 volumes) and The David Chronicles (9 volumes, including collections of artwork based on the historical context of the books). Both series were steeped in history and well-researched. Virtually Lace is much more of a murder-mystery, but virtual reality plays a big part in the plot and gives references to where that technology is right now and possibly where it is headed. To be honest, that’s almost as scary as the murder and suspense of the plot, but it would be an amazing tool to be able reconstruct events and see what really happened by applying VR. More importantly, the main characters are very well developed and vivid, making this book a real page-turner. I can’t wait to read Book 1!

5 out of 5 starsReviewed: 12-30-18
In this story, Poznansky tackles the biblical story of Issac's sons in the form of a frank, first person recollection on the event from a much older Yankle (Jacob). The author expertly portrays a dysfunctional family where the bitter rivalry between a pair of twins and their parents favoritism is so great that we can easily believe and even sympathize with Yankle's plotting to steal his brother's birthright by deceiving his dying father.
Like so much of the Old Testament, this is a story of brutal people who were jealous, conniving and dishonest (and those were the good guys), but in this version of the story, told in modern, colloquial language, we are given insights that helps us to imagine what it might have been like to have been that younger brother and just how the events that are laid out in the Bible as facts, without much explanation, might have come to happen.
Poznansky's stories are always a delight to experience, whether in the written or the audio versions and this one, though a little shorter than most, was no less of a magical journey into a magical past.
