Overcome with sudden joy I staggered towards her
Check this out on Chirbit
A mushroom cloud rose over the village of Hanbury high into the sky. And with a guttural sound, mounds of earth were lifted up, then hurled back down into the ground.Meanwhile, from the meadow came the sound of bleating, followed by gunshots. A bullet grazed my ear.“Hey,” I screamed, into the mist. “Stop it! What on earth are you doing? You nearly killed me!”“Didn’t mean to,” said an RAF regiment, now coming into sight, gun in hand. “I was aiming at the sheep, they’re running wild with terror!”He climbed over some mound—a dead cow—and came nearer to see if I was alright. Then he gave me a pat on the back, which started me coughing again.“What happened in the mine,” I asked. “It was so sudden! Was it a German attack?”“Who knows,” he said. “Either that, or something else.”“Such as what?”“Such as someone careless or improperly trained.”I raised an eyebrow—not that it could be noticed, with all the soot on my face—and he went on to say, “Yes, someone who tried, perhaps, to remove an exploder pocket without the right tool. It can be something as simple as that, you know, causing a spark to set off a reaction.”With that he went off, pointing his gun into the dust. Then—just over the plaintive bleating of the sheep and the chaotic blasts rocking the mine—came a different sound. I listened to it in disbelief. It was the most wonderful sound in the entire world: a hum, the low, familiar hum of my Harley. There it was, a silhouette of the beast, with Natasha astride on top of it, hair unfurling in the wind. I wanted to tell her how I admired her courage, the risk she took, riding it all by herself, without my guidance, to get here. I wanted to tell her she should have stayed away. But by now I knew that for me, she would dare take any chance, come what may.“Oh Lenny,” she said. “You look... I have no words for it.”Overcome with sudden joy I staggered towards her.“Come on,” she said. “Let’s go.”In confusion I asked, “Where to?”And Natasha said, “Anywhere, my love. Anywhere but here.”

A most impressive survey of art inspired by David

Now she combines all of her previous six books about the impact of the biblical David on artists throughout time – The David Chronicles. The author now is curating art collections to enhance the pleasure of her books’ stories. This collection is again one of the most complete collections of art from ancient through renaissance to contemporary in drawings, paintings, sculptures, etchings – works by Raffaello Sanzio, Guercino, Maerten van Heemskerck, Eustache Le Sueur, Heinrich Aldegrever, Matthaeus the Elder, Renieri, Jan Steen, Tissot, Schwebel, the Maciejowski Bible, William Blake, Rembrandt, Johann Jacob Haid, Kokoschka, Schwebel, Vallotron, von Carolsfeld, Albert Weisgerber, Michelangelo, Gustave Doré, Francesco Pesellli, Faith Robinson Trumbull, Chagall, Frederic Lord Leighton, and Camillo Boccaccino - some well known, others – discoveries. The art is arranged not by artist but instead by events regarding the life of David – or as Uvi states, ‘a collection of art throughout the ages around the story of David. How did the masters of art imagine the epic battle of David and Goliath, the aftermath of David’s victory over Goliath, and the decline of the House of Saul and David’s rise to the throne? How did they imagine the most torrid love affair ever told, David’s forbidden love affair with Bathsheba, the rape of David’s daughter, Tamar, by her half-brother Amnon, and the affair of King David and his last concubine, Abishag?
It is a majestic, learned, beautifully designed book that carries a lot of instruction, entertainment, as well as visual pleasure. But then that is what Uvi is all about! Grady Harp, March 21

The David Chronicles companion books in storytelling and art
New art collection just published!

The David Chronicles: Trilogy describes the life of one of the most fascinating figures in history, starting from his youth, his ascension to the throne, and his struggles with his heirs during his old age: Rise to Power:
Here is the story of David as you have never heard it before: from the king himself, telling the unofficial version, the one he never allowed his court scribes to recount. Rooted in ancient lore, his is a surprisingly modern memoir.
Notorious for his contradictions, David is seen by others as a gifted court entertainer, a successful captain in Saul's army, a cunning fugitive, a traitor leading a gang of felons, and a ruthless raider of neighboring towns who leaves no witnesses behind. But how does he see himself, during this first phase of his life?
With his hands stained with blood, can he find an inner balance between conflicting drives: his ambition for the crown, his determination to survive the conflict with Saul, and his longing for purity, for a touch of the divine, as expressed so lyrically in his psalms?
A Peek at Bathsheba:
Against the backdrop of wars, raging within the land and without, David is growing into the mantle of leadership. Between his anointment as a tribal king and his anointment as the king of all of Israel, he uses wisdom, cunning, and his own understanding of the forces of history, aiming for high ideals: stopping the bloodshed, uniting the nation, and bringing about healing and peace.
But then, having reached his peak, David falters. He makes a serious error that threatens to undo his political success, and cost him not only the adoration of his people--but also the sense of being sustained by a divine power. That error is the most torrid tale of passion ever told: his deliciously forbidden love for Bathsheba, followed by his attempt to cover up the ensuing scandal by sending her husband--who serves him faithfully in his army--to his death.
The Edge of Revolt:
David loves his sons. The last thing he expects is that they will topple him from the throne. Who among them will remain by his side? Who will be not only loyal, but also eager to continue his legacy?
For now, David remains silent, even as Amnon rapes Tamar, even as Absalom lures Amnon to his death. In families other than his, such crimes may be concealed. But when they occur in the king's family, they affect matters of the state, and result in his escape from the son he adores. Will he finds a way to quell the revolt and come back to the City of David?

Verified PurchaseI have become a very big fan of Uvi Poznansky's books and have read most of them. As much as I've enjoyed the others, I think "Overdue" is her most gripping and fast-paced book yet. The fourth in a series (all can be read independently and don't necessarily have to be read in order), they tell the story of Ash Winters, her boyfriend, her parents, a mob boss and some of his henchmen, and some interesting applications of virtual reality. "Overdue" is set during the Covid-19 pandemic and features identity theft, insurance fraud, a make-up artist and actress who is a little too talented for her own (and Ash's) good, and more. An emotional roller-coaster from the first page to the last, I couldn't put it down. Is this the end of the series? I'm not sure even the author knows, but there are plenty of unanswered questions to fill a fifth novel. We can hope!A thrilling ride through pandemic-ridden LA

I have read and loved all of Poznansky’s books. Opposed to the norm where most series follow-ons aren’t nearly as amazing as the first book, these books get better with each new release. In addition to the danger facing the main character, Ash, and her race to survive, we also experience more of the exciting virtual reality aspects from the founding book, Virtually Lace, in a particularly creepy fashion!
A new, powerful character is featured in this edition who readers will simultaneously hate and with whom they’ll empathize. A bone thin actress with a habit plays a pivotal role. Ms. Voola is involved with the Russian thugs who are after Ash. Tightly woven into the mobsters’ schemes to take advantage of a world plagued by the virus, the chameleon-like woman is nearly the undoing of our hero.
As usual, this novel is beautifully written by a very talented author. And even though this is an action thriller, Poznansky finds ways to paint gorgeous described scenes without slowing down the action.
Here’s hoping the next book in the series is underway!

This is clearly a mistake. It should be the easiest thing in the world to prove wrong
And the third letter—well, the third one is from my health insurance. It contains a medical bill. Right away, something about it stinks to high heaven.
My previous bills would list procedures taken to keep me alive, dating back to the time I was in coma. But no, that’s not what’s in this bill. I recall that Linda had a mastectomy recently. With my own eyes, I saw the scars on her flat breast. So I prepare myself for seeing a phony charge for that procedure. But no, that’s not it, either. The procedure I’m being billed for—get this!—is a vasectomy.
What?
I rub my eyes, look at it again, laugh out loud.
This is clearly a mistake. It should be the easiest thing in the world to prove wrong. First thing, tomorrow morning.
Utterly exhausted, I park for the night at UCI campus, in a secluded spot shaded by trees. Through the branches, I have a partial view of the apartment I used to rent just before the pandemic hit. Someone else lives there now. Someone else has just turned off the light.
I snuggle down in my sleeping bag. The moonlit scene, this dreamy image of my past, seems both familiar and alien to me now. I close my eyes and, despite the lack of certainty in my future, feel as if in the end, everything will be all right. Somehow.

"This novel has it all! Mystery combined with murder, mayhem and so much more....including the Russian mob...Wow...doesn't get any better than that for me as a reader. Toss in the Virtual Reality scenes and this author has a home run with this novel...(I will admit freely that I had to take a break from the 'blue room' last night. I had to allow myself time to absorb those scenes)."Serenity, Hall of Fame reviewer

Who's Voola?
USA Today bestselling author, From Womens' Pens author and humorist, Susan Jean Ricci is best known for her series of works titled Cindy's Crusades. Here is her review for my new thriller, Overdue:

Verified Purchase“These days germs are nothing to sneeze at.”(I know, right?)
Reading a story with the descriptive prose Uvi Poznansky is famous for is always a delightful experience and Overdue (Ash Suspense Thrillers with a Dash of Romance Book 4) is no exception. I’m no stranger to the wonderful characters starring in this tale, as this isn’t my first adventure with this snappy, imaginative series.
Imagine feeling as if you can exist in both the present and the past at the same time? Michael and Ashley have returned to their virtual reality ‘games’ - this time during the pandemic - to confront the Russian Mafia, restore stolen identities (both personal and insurance-wise), while Ash tries to extract the name of the thug who’d raped her. They are foiled at every turn.
As much as virtual reality has its pros, it also possesses cons, like cyber sickness, but that’s the least of Ash’s problems – discovering who has stolen her identity is – but, the issue of her empty bank account and stolen medical cards turn into out to be a much bigger scheme than the she and Michael realizes.
After Michael’s Tesla is incinerated by unknown bad guys, they’re left to wonder what’s next in store. After Michael is injured, Ash fears for her parents, whether it’s the pandemic, the Mafia, whatever – no one seems exempt from danger.
Darling Pa has also unintentionally contributed to Ashley’s woes, and every way she turns spells another disastrous episode for her and the ones she loves.
Just when I thought I had things figured out, Ms. Poznansky pulled the rug out from under my smug, little feet with twists leading me in unexpected directions – a reader just can’t help but continue turning the pages to see what happens next.
Overdue is a suspenseful, science fiction/action tale, dipped in the reality of our current problems with the virus, and woven with the sweet progress of Ashley and Michael’s romance. Although Ash longs for a dull moment…Oops, no spoilers here! Sorry!
A highly recommended read, with the promise of a wildly, entertaining and satisfying plot. Five golden stars for originality, action, and Ms. Poznansky’s brilliant talent for captivating her audience.
