Huh, Interesting Interview.

Edit: and it goes to show that this video came after a McGovern video (earned his stripes in the peace movement during the buildup to Iraq), so I assumed some level of professionalism, though perhaps with a shake of conspiracy. And hell, the interview, if a little soft, was solid. So then I see this meme with the likes of Musk and my interviewer (well, and Trump and Assange, the guy he had arrested and tortured) all on the same team.
Not even sure what to make of that.
So perhaps for some people there's a loose conspiratorial persons (and how Trump gets in there, I have no idea...) who always talk about "those corrupt types" or "corrupt power" even if they are well embedded in that. So that's how Assange (definitely being tortured and abused for no reason) and Snowden gets thrown in with people who have arrested them (the former) and would in a heartbeat (the latter). And, I suppose, they'd throw Ray McGovern in there too.
This kind of association (I assume it's with the right wing conspiracists mainly) seems beyond the pale, if you think about it for even a second. And yet with the meme economy of the internet, it ends up being the most viral because no one wants to think too much. Instead they want to go by vibes. There's probably more to be said. Perhaps the video below is someone crazy (hell haven't watched the rest of their podcasts, so that could be it) and I'm wrong for pointing that out. But is that the case?

Know of a few podcasts. Bene thinking about them and what they convey. The internet scream is against it all, even the easy going fireside chats because they're just certain that they are vehicles to much worse. Not sure about that. Seems similar to some of the liberals in #theresistance and how they go on so much about Trump that they miss some of their own crap (or don't understand the situation because they don't see that Trump only ever jumped in front of a parade of fools/crazies).
But podcasts, such as Rogan and the one at the bottom of this post, are usually conversational pieces that do give a piece of the person being talked to, but because of rapport, people rarely dig deep.
That being said, when I see this interview I do think it highlights a certain subsection of liberals that are there for show. I thought that made the difference in the public, but I don't. It's too much like the right.
So I will watch that Oliver Stone doc on Putin. Hell, apparently he gets Putin to watch Dr. Strangelove. Definitely the ultimate and still relevant film of the United States.
Because this interview is worth listening to.
That he mentions a wall of propaganda in the West is something that I too have been wondering about because it does seem to be cloaking the land, this beast that was once the purview of the right alone. I certainly think this war is allowing those with power to further consolidate those gains (started by Reagan, worsened by Clinton.... never fixed... I speak of the media consolidation into a few hands). Combine that with SCOTUS saying innocent people can be executed, that women should be forced to give birth, and well, no states can pass too many gun control laws.... even after a school shooting.... so you can kind of see the Neo feudalism we're heading towards. Certainly not a democracy.
Hope? Look at Chile. They've taken down their constitution from Pinochet days and are voting on a new one. Gotta fight for that shit though.

Napoli

Wish I were in that city called Naples. Maybe living there would be different. Story a friend tells me: that an ex-Navy guy liked the place too and decides to live there. The Camorra come to visit him and say he has to pay protection money. He says no, after all he's ex-mil so he ain't scared. But he comes back one day to a completely empty apartment. And that's it. No confrontation nothing. That kind of pervasive corruption might make it less idyllic than I initially thought.

1,000,000 deaths are a statistic. And Omicron variants are just on the horizon.

Well Worldometer said that we passed 1M deaths a while back while NYtimes says it was just recently. Well the times has a good way to look at this as something other than a statistic. Heartbreaking. Check it out.

My last job had me really interested in interactive fiction

So I'm giving one a crack. It's only on the first scene, so tell me your thoughts through email or something like that. I'll make some other shorter ones, that might or might not be in the same "video game" feel of things.

Wondering if this dip in crypto is the final dip?

Certainly people taking joy in it. But I'm wondering if it's true. I certainly felt that it was done years ago, but it kept going. If it is a financial instrument for the superrich, then it will crash hard as inflation bites and inserts rates increase. But will it end? Or stabilize at some low point where it can actually be useful? Also wondering if it signifies some turning point in our nation's post pandemic era?

Overdoses

Overdoses are up to 108k deaths per year. Fentanyl being the main culprit. Crazy stuff, and everyone's got a theory. Frayed social fabric probably the main culprit. Heard it on the bus the other day, that all the fentanyl is a kind of chemical warfare by, well you know, furners, or the Chinese. Once again it would appear it is easy for the elites to just blame some far away monster rather than take blame for the situation themselves. And, it would appear, everyone is dumb enough to fall for it again. Guess what? Other nations don't have this issue. It has nothing to do with foreign monsters. Just like the hollowing out of the middle class has nothing to do with China either. We got plenty rich, it's just that certain people made sure they got it while others did not. Yeah, this latest version of Groundhog Day isn't doing me any favors.
