#BookReview STRONG ENOUGH TO LOVE by Victoria Dahl #romance

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Quickie introduction to Victoria Dahl. This novella packed enough punch in character development and emotional conflict to be a full fledged novel. Eve is a thirty-six year old photographer who was unfortunate enough to fall in love with a married man--with a twist. Brian wanted to go back to his wife to make it work, leaving Eve feeling guilty and abandoned.
Two years later, he's back on her doorstep with a clean bill of divorcement...

#BookReview THE TYCOON'S CONVENIENT WIFE by Ros Clarke #romance

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I enjoyed this sweet book. Yes, it was cliched, the typical need a fake fiance/girlfriend/wife for business purposes book. But what made it stand out is Emily. She is so naive in one sense, but talks herself into going along with the scheme knowing she would most likely be hurt. The hero, Guy, wasn't quite as endearing. He was quite dense, but he had an excuse in the form of a psychob*tch ex-wife who left his children in dirty d...

#BookReview BEAUTIFUL DISASTER by Jamie McGuire #newadult

My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Travis Maddox is an obvious bad boy. He beats people up for a living, humps and dumps women, and has a really, really bad temper. But when he meets Abby Abernathy, a girl who says she will never ever fall for him or sleep with him, he decides to befriend her.
The storyline is cliched because we are supposed to believe that all it takes to change a promiscuous player type of guy to a loyal and eternally devoted servant is to to act aloof...

#BookReview Recent Reviews of HIDDEN UNDER HER HEART #ya #pregnancy

Blurb: Maryanne Torres swears off sex to land a marrying man. But an unexpected pregnancy and a dark secret threaten her chance for true love.
Editorial Reviews:
This is a wonderful love story between Maryanne and Lucas. They have so much pain between them that I do believe that they were truly were meant to be. They were each others healing stars. - My Thoughts for Thought
I also loved that Ayala made Lucas a very lovable man of color (half black, half white). Honestly,...

#BookReview THE MYSTERIOUS AFFAIR AT STYLES by Agatha Christie #mystery

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This was Agatha Christie's first mystery and it's the classic case of suspicion falling on all members of a household. Hercule Poirot happens to be in the vicinity and he assists the household in finding the criminal.
Christie is skilled at drawing suspicion to and from various members, but she did a double twist in this one. Clever. Very clever. I won't give it away except to say that you should not eliminate anyone, not...

#AuthorInterview Melissa Mayberry - author of Mellifica, Top Ten Questions

It takes a lot of guts to write a fictional account based on a devastating first love, but Melissa Mayberry has not only done it, but relived it and survived. I'm happy to have her take on the Top Ten Questions she gets as a writer.
If you are a writer, you’ve been asked about your book. If you are like me, you’ve been asked the same things more than once. Here’s a list of my most common questions.
10. What’s wrong? I’m an emotional writer. All the cussing, yelling, and even crying gets a lot...

My Favorite One-Star Reviews or Bad Reviews to Make You Laugh
One-star reviews never fail to bring out the emotions. Some of the most passionately written reviews are the single-starred ilk. So, without further ado, here are a collection of zany, zingy, zalongy one and two-star reviews:
Michal is BellaThis is such a juvenile romance that I could not force myself to finish it. How can I judge, then, you ask? Well, I am firmly of the camp that good writing hooks the reader. Absent that, it does not lose it's built in fan base. With historical fiction, ther...

#BookReview THE TECH GUY by Lia Fairchild #chick-lit

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This was a breezy, easy read with humorous moments, especially with the minor characters, Pop, Jayne, Adam, and the basketball game. The new cover is nicer and let's me know this is chick-lit and not romance.
The main character, Emma Barton, is a married woman, but she is attracted to the new Tech Guy. Her husband is a very nice and caring guy who cooks and does the laundry. Since I don't want to give away the ending, I'll just say, I do not...
