#BookChat SEDITION by Tom Abrahams #political #thriller

I was warned. And yet, I probably didn’t appreciate the sage advice: “Expect people to hate your book.”

That piece of wisdom was from another indie author who’s had a lot of success.  And he loved SEDITION.  He got it.  He understood that it’s as much a commentary on freedom and love of country as it is a fictional, violent plot drawn from present day political reality.

He told me that people on the left would think I drew the right-of-center conspirators as sympathetic. ...

Book Cover Collages with CollageIt Pro #author

Yesterday I wrote about how easy it is to use CollageIt Pro. What I didn't know is how addictive the software is. Drag and drop any set of photos, select a template and background and start hitting the knobs.

Since I'm an author, here are a few collages I made of my babies [three published and one preborn].

Pearl Mountain has authorized me to run a Giveaway for 12 Windows licenses and 8 Mac licenses for my lucky readers. This is the full version with no ads and watermarks ($19.90 values). So en...

#ProductReview CollageIt Pro Software - fun and easy, Mother's Day Special

If you've ever been put off from making photo collages because of the cost and learning curve of Photoshop, wait no longer. CollageIt Pro is an inexpensive and easy-to-use tool whose only job is to create photo collages. I was offered an opportunity to review this software and not a moment too soon. I needed to make a photo collage for my child's yearbook and the deadline was looming. There were so many pictures I wanted to include, and the thought of sitting there and manually laying out eac...

#BookReview THE BAY AT MIDNIGHT by Diane Chamberlain #family #drama

The Bay At Midnight The Bay At Midnight by Diane Chamberlain
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a fast and easy read and reminiscent of Anne Rivers Siddons' Off-Season. It deals with families at a beach summer house, young romances between neighbors, and a tragic death that destroys both families.

The story weaves between the present and the past when a young woman appears on Julie's doorstep with a note hinting the wrong man went to jail for the death of Julie's elder sister forty-one years ago. That man died in jai...

Reflections of a Childhood in Los Angeles #poetry

Yesterday, I reviewed Patricia Neely-Dorsey's fascinating book: Reflections of a Mississippi Magnolia where she illustrates in poetry what it was like to grow up in the Old South. I was so inspired by her poetry, I penned down a few lines from my life.

Growing up in Los Angeles, in the heat of the 1960's and 70's, my experiences were much different than Patricia's. I'm not much of a poet, but here's my Reflections of A Childhood in Los Angeles.

Reflections of a Mississippi Magnolia-A Life in Poems Reflections of a Mississippi Magnolia-A Life in Poems by Patricia Neely-Dorsey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This delightful book brings me back to a time and a place I do not know. It makes me feel like I really missed something by not growing up in Mississippi. Every poem draws word pictures and brings to mind scents and sounds to transport the reader to an event, whether it's shucking peas to killing hogs, to the old country church, or the high school band and drill team.

How wonderful for Ms. Neel...
