A big dose of 'I feel like a writer, now' came when Simon & Schuster bought the book (I built those bookshelves that I didn't feel like I had earned until then) but it still didn't feel real. Another dose came when the ARC arrived and I was able to hold the book in my hands and smell it. When people that I didn't know started to review the book on Goodreads, it really hit. All that said, when somebody asks what I do for a living, it still feels very strange to say that I'm a writer. Maybe that will fade if I manage a second novel? (less)

We debut authors are a needy bunch and rely on feedback like that to get through the day. My second book is with my agent, and I'm working on my third. We'll see what happens!(less)

Accountability - A Punishment or a Choice?

My debut novel, OTHER PEOPLE’S CHILDREN, was about expectations, and explored how different people react when their reality doesn’t match what they expected from their lives. My second novel, LIKE IT NEVER HAPPENED, which releases on March 5th, is about accountability.

Four 18-year-old boys do something terrible. They get away with it, but their friendship shatters. The novel opens when one of them Read more of this blog post »

“But then she thought of that lime squirming inside of Carli, and she wondered if she could really come back after four months. Could she drop her baby off at day care every morning, leave that baby for eight or nine hours at a stretch? If she stayed at home with the baby, she would miss that shot of adrenaline when she closed a deal, and she would miss the scrape and clatter of the shop, but what if she missed her baby’s first steps or first words?”
