This is not a question, but a comment. I am a voracious reader. I probably read an average of three books per week (sometimes more). This one of the absolute BEST books I have read. Not since Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger have I read such an outstanding book. When is your next book coming?
Jeff Hoffmann Thank you so much for the message! I loved your review as well. We debut authors are a needy bunch and rely on feedback like that to get through the day. My second book is with my agent, and I'm working on my third. We'll see what happens!

When did you realize yourself as a writer? After writing first book, publishing , success or …? You know this feeling inside «I am truly a writer»
Jeff Hoffmann Mariia, thank you for the question. To be honest, I think the imposter syndrome will last a while. A big dose of 'I feel like a writer, now' came when Simon & Schuster bought the book (I built those bookshelves that I didn't feel like I had earned until then) but it still didn't feel real. Another dose came when the ARC arrived and I was able to hold the book in my hands and smell it. When people that I didn't know started to review the book on Goodreads, it really hit. All that said, when somebody asks what I do for a living, it still feels very strange to say that I'm a writer. Maybe that will fade if I manage a second novel?

I loved your book Other People’s Children ! Great story and was hard to put down. Do you think you’ll do a sequel to this story? I want to know more about their lives and the challenges they faced.
Jeff Hoffmann Loretta, I'm so gratified to hear that you enjoyed OPC. Right now, I'm working on a novel about an entirely different cast of characters, but I keep wondering what will happen next for Maya, Carli, Gail, and Jon. So who knows, I may come back to that world after I'm done with the story I'm working on now. Thank you so much for reading the book and for taking the time to send your note.
