Here it is:
the new way of living with the world
inside of us so we cannot lose it,
and we cannot be lost.
You and me,
are us and them, and it and sky.
It’s hard to believe we didn’t
know that before.

thousands of feet up in the sky and only thinking of you, the soft shoulder-hollow that fits my cheek, the notched spine,
always murmuring nonsense in your sleep into the night – longing and longing
I am curious how do you and azra know each other ?

It’s strange because Shaking The Trees is sort of like a tribute to who I once was. Baby me, too young, too naive, too caught up in love. I’m still that person but I’ve developed so much as a writer that this book always takes me aback when I look through it. I’m proud that I wrote it, I’m proud that it was published and I’m also very proud that I’ve changed. Still baby me, still learning but slightly differently this time. If anyone wants to know Baby Azra then you can buy Shaking The Trees here and you’d be making me smile and getting to know a past self.
azra i showed my bf "cherry pie daydreams" last week and he started crying, saying that it was all that he had ever wanted. today there's an ocean between us and he read it to me over the phone in his 2am sleepy voice and i think i fell in love.
this is so lovely!!!!!!! making people fall in love is my tm

Those sun-drenched bodies,
love like honey into
each other’s mouths.
We kissed like we were
licking spoons clean.
We lost it but God,
I’ll think of you.
I’ll think of you there.
I promise.”

I hope your family is all right.
This is so ominous…Why wouldn’t they be?

with a honeysuckle, jasmine breeze
heady, rich and almost liquid
You can stand on the sun-filled stones
stretch and hold
the heart-breaking sweetness
of the night.”
