5000letters:
I love that you are fingers firstplum-soaked...
I love that you are fingers first
plum-soaked and
sodden with it.Your want
and mine,
a choke-chain around that
delirious humThat pull and heave,
whisky-dipped tied twice
around your fistTied once over
and over and over, full of
the throat
the untwined spine, the mouthOn mouth and teeth
and tongue, unloosen the
back,
undo the shoulders and press
downHand-first, landlocked
fish the breath out of the
stomach,
swallow it whole, take itBellyful, mouth full,
unlearn the ache, cup the
bruise
kiss downwards against those
plainsSigh – honestly,
breathless, and begin the
careful
unravelling, unstitch the
skin againAnd again, I love
how you tighten your fingers
around it, bring it closer
andlet it fill you, brimming.

"I imagine the sex.
The rattle of it,
the sharpness,
their tongues,
His & Hers,
matching..."
The rattle of it,
the sharpness,
their tongues,
His & Hers,
matching towels,
coffee mugs,
hipbones aligned
into planetary
miracles. Mouth
seams full of light,
joints aching,
heavy with it,
curving their bodies
like swans necks,
his fingers, before,
the same fingers,
before,
on a different body,
not mine,
less bulbous
and hesitant,
not mine,
open as a subway
station, eating
skin on skin on skin,
not mine,
like handprints
on foggy windows,
pressing her
into every shadow,
the same fingers, before,
pulling her throat strings,
before,
swallowing her
into litanies of
greedy prayers, before,
not mine, before,
the grime of them,
furious with it,
before.”

Azra. I really like you. A lot. I'm not really a poetic person or an emotions person but you make me want to read because I can feel your words. I can taste them, smell them. How do you do that? I don't do feelings, but i can feel love in your words. Thank
You beautiful thing. Thank you.

I think my resentment towards marriage comes from the way us brown girls are told to perceive it. Its not seen as something beautiful, two souls uniting. Rather a contract. You’re a responsibility of your family, carrying their honour and one day you will be handed to another man and his family and then you will be his responsibility and carry his honour. Its like you’re chained to men all your life and that’s all you’re worth. This culture suffocates women with its crazy ideals and I don’t want to be a part of it.

I ordered your book well over a year ago and never received it but i didn't even realise until it was too late to really bring it up. It's a shame cause i love your work :(
Hey! Come off anon and give me your address and I’ll get Amanda to find out what went wrong okay? If you bought it then you deserve to have it.

i love that you only gave anon two words :P
It’s so intense getting messages like that on anon! I wasn’t being sarcastic, just a bit nonplussed
I don't want 5000 letters from you. I only want three words
Um, okay…
