Luski’s Silent Girl: A Story That Echoes Our Fight
I wanted to share something deeply personal my new novel Luski's Silent Girl: A Native American revenge story isn’t just fiction.
It tells the story of a Deaf Lumbee girl whose homeland is stolen and set on fire by a cowboy. Her father dies in the flames, and all she has left is a wounded black wolf named Luski.
She survives not just through strength, but by recognizing the patterns of loss, silence, and injustice.
Sound familiar?
That’s why this story matters. Because it mirrors what we’ve lived as Lumbee people. We’ve had to fight for every inch for recognition, respect, and land.
H.R. 474 isn’t just a bill. It’s our truth. Just like this book.
If you have a minute, please watch the trailer. I poured my heart into it for my father, for my tribe, for every Lumbee who’s ever been told they don’t count.

Big News: Featured in BookLife Project News!
I’m honored to share that both of my books —
Signs from the Spirit Signs From The Spirit and The Sign of Victoria The Sign of Victoria: A Supernatural Thriller —
have officially been featured in BookLife Project News by Publishers Weekly!
This means so much to me, not just as an indie author, but as a Lumbee and Deaf writer who has poured heart, truth, and healing into these pages.
✨ Signs from the Spirit reflects grief, spiritual signs, and deep personal love for my father.
👁 The Sign of Victoria is a supernatural thriller grounded in fear, survival, and the truth that not everyone makes it out.
I never imagined that both would land on an industry-recognized platform but here we are.
Thank you to everyone who’s believed in me, supported my work, and walked with me on this journey.
Let this be a reminder:
Your story matters. Your voice matters.
And someone out there is watching even when it feels like no one is.

This isn’t just another book. It’s personal shaped by silence, spirit, and resilience. Inspired by those who are so often left out of the story.
More details are coming soon, but for now, I’ll leave you with this:
Luski is watching.

Paperback and eBook coming later this year.
Thank you to everyone who’s supported my work so far. This next journey is one I can’t wait to share with you.

The Signs Quiet Down
Signs From The SpiritSomething unexpected happened after my books went public…
I felt calm.
Not just relief real, deep, quiet calm.
I didn’t see any red birds today.
No feathers, no coins, no unexpected signs.
And for a second, I thought, “Is something wrong?”
But then I realized:
This is what peace feels like.
Because I’m not searching anymore.
my books Signs from the Spirit
And now, I’m holding the U.S. Copyright certificate for Signs from the Spirit in my hands.
That paper, with its gold seal, isn’t just legal protection…
It’s spiritual confirmation.
A sign in itself.
I’ve come a long way. From doubt to faith. From handwritten pages to full books in readers’ hands. From wondering if I was ready… to realizing I already arrived.
So today? No birds needed.
Spirit is quiet because I’m aligned.
And when you’re aligned you don’t need directions. You just walk forward in peace. 🕊️

A Gift to the Community That Raised Me
Signs from the SpiritI’m so honored to share that my memoir, Signs from the Spirit, will be officially added to the permanent archive collection at Robeson Community College Library.
This isn’t just for me.
This is for Robeson County for the Lumbee people, for the Deaf community, for every voice that has ever felt overlooked.
Thank you to Maryellen O’Brien, Director of Learning Resource Services, for recognizing the value of my story and helping preserve it for future generations. I’m truly speechless.
This is more than a donation.
It’s a legacy.

My Second Book Is Here And It’s Real!
Hello everyone
I’m beyond excited to finally share something that means the world to me the proof copy of my second book, The Sign of Victoria, has arrived! It’s real. It’s 6x9, 420 glossy pages, and absolutely beautiful. Seeing it in my hands for the first time took my breath away.
You can now find The Sign of Victoria available at Walmart, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, Amazon, and over 45,000 retailers, libraries, and warehouses worldwide.
Earlier, I posted a thank-you to Lumbee Tribe Chief Chairman John Lowery and the PR team (Tasha/Taylor) for their support. I’ve also donated a copy of my first book Signs from the Spirit to Gallaudet University Library, and I plan to donate The Sign of Victoria to:
• The University of North Carolina at Pembroke (a proud Lumbee community)
• Robeson Community College (where my fifth son graduated)
This book represents my journey not just as an author, but as a Lumbee and Deaf woman proud of her heritage and voice.
I wrote The Sign of Victoria as a supernatural thriller with depth. Think: The Haunting of Hill House vibes but this story is mine. Seven students vacation at a mysterious house, only to find themselves trapped in a deadly game involving a gold queen card. That’s all I’ll say for now. 😉
Signs from the Spirit I still have plenty of signed copies available.
The Sign of Victoria not yet signed, but I hope to offer signed versions in the next 2–3 weeks.
You can order both books at www.sondrasampsonbooks.net or any major online store.
Thank you for being part of this journey for supporting Native authors, Deaf creators, and the stories we carry with us.
With love,
Sondra Sampson

A Full-Circle Moment My Books Join Gallaudet’s Deaf Collections
Today I mailed something deeply personal:
Signed copies of Signs from the Spirit and my heart and soul in book form are on their way to Gallaudet University Library to be added to their official Deaf Collections.
As a Deaf and Lumbee author, and a proud studies at Model Secondary School for the Deaf, this is more than just a donation.
Special thanks to Noah Beckman, Deaf Collections Librarian, for welcoming my stories into a space that shaped my own. These books now join the shelves of history and memory where Deaf voices, culture, and storytelling live on.
