Happy Tuesday! It's time for another Prah, Constantine and Baryeh review. We went sweet romance with Meant to Be (Sweetbriar Cove Book 1) by Melody Grace. (PS. which is free at the time of posting this review)

My Review
Poppy needs a break from her life after breaking off her engagement and hopefully saving herself from an unfulfilling marriage. She feels terrible about hurting the fiance, but is firm in her belief that breaking her engagement is the right decision.
She escapes to Sweetbriar where she's reacquainted with Cooper, someone she knew as a child. Though they start off on the wrong foot, their relationship quickly changes to a romantic one. This story has the makings of a Hallmark movie (if you love those). The problem with them is that it's difficult to wow the reader/audience.
The main thing that raised brows for me was the hero's reason for holding on to the past. I'm the first to agree that everyone reacts differently a given issue, but I felt there should have been a little more to the story to cause him to hold so firmly on to his past fears. Especially, given some of the things he did to hurt the heroine as a result. Then again, it's fear, and we aren't always rational when it comes to those, right?
Overall, I liked the sweet moments, and the writing flowed well.
This is book one of the series, and I enjoyed it enough to try the next book.

#Review: Passion Rekindled (Brooks Family Book 2) by Delaney Diamond
The BlurbThis is a short story.
As far as Sylvie Johnson is concerned, her ex-husband used her and left her and she cannot stand the sight of him. Fifteen years after their divorce, her feelings haven’t changed. She wants nothing to do with him—no matter what her beating heart suggests.
Oscar Brooks has always assumed that his ex-wife hates him, but after an unplanned kiss, he’s not so sure. Why does she always have such a hostile response to his presence? Is it love, or is it hate? He’s determined to find out.
My Review
Passion Rekindled is a second chance romance (as the title suggests) between an older couple that were married for years and then divorced for 15 years.
I liked the focus on a couple in their fifties.
Although this story can be read as a standalone, I feel it was more fulfilling reading it after book 1, since the timeline overlaps at some point, and events in book 1 actually trigger the meeting between Sylvie and Oscar, which led to the unplanned kiss (see blurb).

If you are going to LAX, forget it, call mom back east and tell her you will be driving out instead. Just Kidding! Any way, this is Katie Carlson with the Los Angeles mid-morning traffic report. Enjoy your commute everybody, NOT! * * *As the blare of the clock radio on the night table jolted her awake, Shari Barnes rubbed her eyes, blew her long brown hair out of her face, and snuggled into Nathan Townsend’s chest. She curled her body around his middle and took a deep whiff of his salty, masculine neck. But she couldn’t ignore the voice on the radio. “Monday morning traffic,” she sighed. #Review: A Passionate Love (Brooks Family Book 1) by Delaney Diamond
BlurbSimone Brooks and Cameron Bennett should not be together. She’s a wealthy socialite looking for a suitable husband. A man with the right pedigree and an economic status that matches her own. After one night together, their sizzling chemistry makes it difficult to stay away. Then comes the hard part—navigating their differences to salvage a relationship that, while it may be imperfect, overflows with love and passion.
My Review
Simone Brooks comes from a wealthy family and she is unapologetic about it. Cameron is an old-fashioned gentleman who likes to open doors and pay for his date etc. This isn't what he gets with Simone, who can afford way more than he can.
Frankly, Cameron was a bit of a jerk in a couple of scenes, but that brought a sense of realism to his character. I liked the fact that Simone wasn't your usual spoilt rich girl, which brought depth to her character. The secondary characters were also memorable, especially Simone's mother (who, it turns out, is the heroine of book 2 of the Brooks Family series).
This book is unique in that it is part of two different series: Book 1 of the Brooks Family series and an installment of the multi-author Bennett Triplets series. The epilogue gave some spoilers about the other two books in the Bennett Triplets series. Even though, they are standalones, I wonder if one might be better off reading the other two before this one.
Ms Diamond's storytelling flows smoothly as she weaves a tale of two people of unequal social standing doing what it takes to make it work. A Passionate Love is a fairly quick read that delivers a romance, a sexy hero and heroine, sizzling sex scenes and some family drama.
I enjoyed this story so much that I immediately 1-Clicked the next book in the series. Very curious about that one.

For KXXX TV and KXXX AM Radio News, this is Katie Carlson with your mid-morning eye-in-the-sky traffic report, and it’s an easy one: It’s messed up EVERYWHERE! So far, the 405 South is backed up all the way to the 101. So, if you are going into Hollywood this morning, you are going to be late for that audition. Also, there is an injury crash on the Eastbound 10. So, if you are heading into downtown LA, you might want to bring a magazine or get some knitting done. If you are going to LAX, forget it, call mom back east and tell her you will be driving out instead. Just Kidding! Any way, this is Katie Carlson with the Los Angeles mid-morning traffic report. As the blare of the clock radio on the night table jolted her awake, Shari Barnes rubbed her eyes, blew her long brown hair out of her face, and snuggled into Nathan Townsend’s chest. She curled her body around his middle and took a deep whiff of his salty, masculine neck.
But she couldn’t ignore the voice on the radio.
“Monday morning traffic,” she sighed.
Nathan matched the sigh and put his arms around her. “At least you don’t have to drive over the hill.”
“Yeah, I would just die if I had to drive into Beverly Hills every day to work in a beautiful office.” Shari giggled and disappeared under their thick blue comforter for a few more moments of sleepy-headed bliss. She felt Nathan stretch up, and a moment later the radio shut off. Then he slid down next to her in the single bed they shared in their Studio City apartment, a few blocks north of Ventura Boulevard. The constant drone and rumble of another L.A. morning came clearly through the open window: cars honking, rock music blaring, the frantic scurrying sounds of the film shoot a few blocks away. Shari ran her bare feet up the inside of Nathan’s thigh.
He jumped. “Shit, your feet are cold.” He pushed her legs off of him.
“What time is it?” she murmured between kisses.
“Um, seven.” He nuzzled her neck and she felt him becoming erect against her.
“No time for that!” She threw off the covers. “Gotta be at work on time for once; gotta get my asp out of bed.”
“There’s a snake in the bed?” Nathan grabbed her with both hands and gave her belly gentle nips.
“Yeah, of the one-eyed variety.” Shari leaped to the floor and padded naked into the bathroom. She turned the hot water in the shower to high and stepped in, filling the small bathroom with steam.
She had just poured a green drop of shampoo into her palm and was running her hands together when the flimsy yellow and white shower curtain flew back and Nathan grinned in at her. She smiled back, surprised by neither his arrival nor the partial hard-on that preceded him.
“Mind if we join you?” he asked.
“There’s enough shampoo for everybody,” Shari said as she rubbed her hands across her scalp.
He stepped into the stall, pulled the curtain closed and began to lather her hair for her. She put her hands on his back, feeling the taut muscles and the water streaming there, but did not reach down between them. It took him about five seconds to realize it and hold her away.
“You okay?”
“Fine….”
“Don’t lie; I can always tell when you have something on your mind.”
“You know me better than I know me,” she said.
“You know it.” He pushed her wet hair over her shoulders. “Come on, give.”
“I was thinking maybe I should get a second job.”
“You’re worrying about money again?”
“Well, I have to shoot my student thesis film this year or I won’t graduate. But where am I going to get the money I need?”
“How much do you need?”
“At least five figures.”

And on that note, I'd like to share the first kiss from my novella, Mr Hot Mocha Perfection, which is one of 5 great love stories in the Be My Valentine anthology. I think my hero nailed. Won't you say?
Here's some background. My hero, Adinkra, asks the heroine, Ama, out on Valentine's day. To alleviate any nervousness because he doesn't want her to feel pressured, he tells her if they have a good time, then it can be a date. If not, then it will be just an outing. This scene happens after said date when he drops her off at her hostel (Did I mention he's a professor and she's student?

Zach is sent to Mauritius to pursue and lead that says Anabelle is a cold-hearted killer. Like a good hero, he swoops in to save the day at their first meeting. The characters are well-developed and likable; not just the main characters. There is a cast of secondary characters I could see having their own stories. The story delivers twists and intrigue as the truth is unravelled.
The main thing that had me raising a brow was the villain's reason for targeting Anabelle. It seemed rather weak for a big baddie, but I suppose sometimes the simplest things are the biggest triggers.
The story is well-written with some great lines and humour as the author takes us on a trip to Mauritius.
Although this is Book 2 of The Protectors series, it is a standalone. Notably, the Corpus Agency doesn't feature in book 1. I'd definitely want to see more stories involving the Corpus Agency and hopefully some of the secondary characters introduced in this story.
I give it 4.5 stars!
