Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving weekend, everyone!

I hope you’re all having a great one. Even if you’re not in the U.S. (and therefore not celebrating this particular holiday) I hope you’re still doing well and have much to be grateful for!

Me, I’m grateful for so, so much.

I have an amazing and supportive family. I have lots of lovely and caring friends.

I’m grateful for being able to do for a living the thing I used to do just for fun.

And, last but not least, I’m grateful for all of you!

So…what are you than...

Finals!

Hey everybody!

I hope you’re all having a good Thanksgiving week! (A longer post on that topic later…)

In the meantime, I wanted to let you know that OUT OF SIGHT, OUT OF TIME is in the finals of the Goodreads Choice Awards!

If you’d like to vote, you can do so right here.

In the meantime, travel safe if you’re traveling.

And gobble gobble…

Influences

Hi everybody,

Greetings from a plane on the way to NYC. I should be working, I know, but instead I’m going to take this time to write about something that has been on my mind a lot lately. Influences.

Not long ago I was talking with Jennifer Lynn Barnes about how people frequently read two books by two different authors and assume that one has “ripped off” or just been inspired by the other.

Then the oh so wise Holly Black pointed out that two authors writing similar things may not be influenced...

Election Day!

Hi all!

I hope those of you who are eligible to vote voted today. It is one of our greatest rights, and every time we do it our country grows a little stronger.

But of course that means I’m spending tonight sitting on my couch watching political analysts…analyze. So far I’ve learned a lot more about counties in Ohio and Florida than I knew possible. So, kudos to you, Ohio and Florida. Sounds like you have some awesome counties!

But that’s not to say that the election is all that’s going on. Oh,...

Sandy

Right this minute Hurricane Sandy is on its approach to the East Coast. I know a lot of you guys live in the area, so please stay safe and know the rest of us are thinking about you!

And…to help ride out the storm I offer you the following PERFECT SCOUNDRELS MINI EXCERPT!

The woods seemed different on the long walk back to the car, and Kat couldn’t shake the feeling that she was forgetting something. Then she stopped and looked at the house.

Someone.

Be safe and be good,

Ally

A big blog of random

Hi everybody!

Long time no blog, I know. But I haven’t had anything really BIG to blog about… So I give you a whole bunch of little things.

* ARGO–easily one of the best movies I’ve seen this year. Maybe THE best. And certainly one of the best spy movies of all time. As I said on twitter, if you want to see what spies really do, don’t see the new Bond movie. See Argo.

* PITCH PERFECT–also very good. Very different from Argo, mind you, but super funny and great. I loved it too.

*SECRET STUFF–I hav...

Update!

Greetings from Allyville!

If I’ve been quiet lately it’s because I’ve been pretty busy sitting on my rear end and typing.

In other words, working on Gallagher Girls 6.

It doesn’t have a title. Or a release date. Or ANY INFORMATION other than it’s kind of full of crack. As in crazy-making insanity. And it needs a lot of work. But it will get there eventually. I swear!

In the meantime, I’ll be taking a break from the writing this weekend to attend the Austin Teen Book Festival in Austin, Texas. It...

Mini Blog: Perks

Are you guys excited about the PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER movie?

Because I’m seriously excited about it!

ps: just as a general rule, the better YA movies do, the more likely Hollywood is to make more YA movies. So when in doubt, support them!
