Undiscovered UK fans and New Promotions

It might sound dense of me, but I didn't realize that there were other reviews of Voyage of the Dead on the UK version of Amazon at http://www.amazon.co.uk/Voyage-Dead-S...
I found them today and have decided that I should do a little more to promote my book overseas.

I am constantly amazed at how the internet has changed the world. To think that some of you are in Scotland and South Africa, others in Alaska and Arizona, and have all read a book I wrote that is not even on paper yet, well, it's both exciting and daunting.

This is all new to me and I am spending so much time wrapping up "Flotilla of the Dead" that I haven't even begun to explore all the challenges and possibilities of marketing my work.

However, for those of you interested enough to have read this far, I do have a surprise planned. If you have read the book, you may recall the significance of the date March 15, 2012 (not to be confused with April 1st).

In an attempt to spread the virus in the two weeks before Z-Day, the full edition of Voyage of the Dead will be offered for FREE at Amazon on March 15, 2012.
There will an additional FREE promotion set to coincide with Z-Day and the release of Flotilla of the Dead.

If this works as planned, I will be happy to GIFT a copy of "Flotilla of the Dead" to all of my official fans (as of March 10th) on this blog (only a couple handfuls at the moment). Just spread the word to your friends via email prior to March 15th, asking them to spread the word too, and copy me@davidpforsyth.com or share "Voyage of the Dead" on Facebook. Twitter works well too!

I want you to know how much I really appreciate your support and I don't want you to feel bad about having bought Voyage of the Dead when I give it away to promote the series. So help me promote it and you will get the next book for FREE! Thanks again and always.

One Month to Z-Day (and counting...)

That's right, zombie fans, the end of the world as we know it is coming sooner than you think! According to the timeline in "Voyage of the Dead" (Book One of the Sovereign Spirit Saga) it's all going to hit the fan on April 1, 2012! It will come with both a whimper and a bang, as hordes of zombies sweep the streets of the world.

A lucky few survivors will watch it all on HDTV from the safety of a luxurious ship, the Sovereign Spirit, then rush to save family and friends ashore. Others will struggle to survive in cities overrun by the undead. Which will you be?

If you want to be ahead of the game, now is the time to read Voyage of the Dead and get ready for the release of "Flotilla of the Dead" in mid-March. The virus is spreading, whether you know it or not, and the time to prepare is running out fast.

Don't delay! Stock up your Kindle, PC, or Smart Phone now for your post-apocalyptic reading pleasure. And start with Voyage of the Dead before it moves to the alternate history shelves. You can also get involved in the Pre-Z-Day promotions and hype by spreading the virus yourself. This is your invitation to become part of the 1% (survivors that is). Enjoy the ride!

Format Problem Reported

One reader has written to report that the paragraph indents on his Kindle version of Voyage of the Dead are out of whack. Have any other readers encountered this problem? My downloaded versions seem to come out fine on Kindle Fire, Kindle for PC and Kindle for Android, but he mentioned that he has a regular Kindle model. Anyone else?

New Review on ZombieHub.com

Thanks to John, from Boston, for posting an outstanding review of Voyage of the Dead at ZombieHub.com. I just read it at http://www.zombiehub.com/voyage-of-th... and almost blushed! This is the type of thing that fans can do to help my books get noticed. I really appreciate it! Other great reviews continue to come in on Amazon and Goodreads, but if you know of any other places to spread the word, please do so. Thanks again to all of the fans of Voyage of the Dead. I couldn't, or wouldn't, do this without you.

Important Note on GR listings for VoD

Note: GoodReads had been listing the "Introductory First Look" (teaser)) edition of Voyage of the Dead in the same listing as the full edition of Book One. This caused duplicate reviews and most ratings went to the intro edition by default. A GR librarian has separated the listings today, but it is still confusing (The First Look edition says so on the cover image in red letters). If you rated Voyage of the Dead, or marked it to read, please be sure that you are pointing at the correct edition. The full book is the recommended edition for fans. ;)

My first fans and blog!

This is a big day for any author; I have my first official fans and I've started my first blog! I won't have much time to put into this blog because I am focused on completing Book 2: "Flotilla of the Dead". But I do want my fans to know how truly flattering it is to know that you enjoyed my first book. It is gratifying to know that, with so few copies sold, "Voyage of the Dead" has already attracted fans and some great reviews. I'll do my best to keep you posted on "Flotilla of the Dead" and promotions for "Voyage of the Dead."

I must say that I thought writing a book would be hard, but have learned that it's much easier than promoting one. It's difficult for a first time indie author to get exposure. Fans are encouraged to write reviews on Amazon and Goodreads, as well as spread the link http://www.amazon.com/Voyage-Dead-Sov...# through social media such as Twitter and Facebook. It would also help if you mention Voyage of the Dead in Goodreads groups - many of them frown on authors who self-promote their books. So it's up to my fans to help spread the Super Rabies virus ;)

The success of the Sovereign Spirit Saga will depend in large part on grass roots and viral marketing, at least until the third book is released. Eventually I hope to combine all three into a paperback edition with a real publisher to promote the series. In the meantime, thank you for your interest and support. I hope you enjoy the ride!

Note: Please feel free to make comments and send me messages. I am open to suggestions and ideas for "Flotilla of the Dead" and subsiquent books in the saga. There is also a Voyage of the Dead page on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Voyage-... that I encourage you to visit and "like" or comment on. Additionally, there is a http://www.sovereignspirit.net/ website that will become an official blog and fan page eventually, and you can email me@davidpforsyth.com too.
