5.0 out of 5 stars The Mule Tamer, March 16, 2012 By  misaacs - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this? ) This review is from: The Mule Tamer (Kindle Edition) I found THE MULE TAMER to be a very good,fun,and entertaining read. The dialogue,vocabulary,the fact of an educated man in that position, with his intuitive instincts brought everything together. The characters were fun and real and the descriptions of land, clothing,and action scenes were so clear. The sense of humor and satire had shades of LONESOME DOVE for me. It brought early Arizona to life! Cudos to the author-----looking forward to a sequal!

Customer Review
Highly Entertaining, March 15, 2012 By  Paulette F. Bethel Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this? ) This review is from: The Mule Tamer (Kindle Edition) It has been a long time since I read a book placed in the Old West. I am so glad I read The Mule Tamer! It is well written and has that 'old west' feel in the language. It read like an old photograph and was perfect for the genre. There were life lessons that are current to today's society and a courtliness to the phrasing that was perfect for the subject.

The Song of Hiawatha

When Arvel visits Walnut Canyon and meets the young artists there, he recites a passage from the The Song of Hiawatha , an 1855 epic poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow:

"Love is sunshine, hate is shadow,
Life is checkered shade and sunshine,
Rule by love, O Hiawatha!"

From the sky the moon looked at them,
Filled the lodge with mystic splendors,
Whispered to them, "O my children,
Day is restless, night is quiet,
Man imperious, woman feeble;
Half is mine, although I follow;
Rule by patience, Laughing Water!"

Thus it was they journeyed homeward;
Thus it was that Hiawatha
To the lodge of old Nokomis
Brought the moonlight, starlight, firelight,
Brought the sunshine of his people,
Minnehaha, Laughing Water,
Handsomest of all the women
In the land of the Dakotas,
In the land of handsome women."

Coming soon! The Mule Tamer in paper!

I know, folks, it will kill trees, but it will also keep the folks in the paper industry employed, I hope. I've gotten feedback from readers who would like to see The Mule Tamer in a more tangible form, so it is in the works. I'll keep everyone posted. Thanks for looking.
