Book cover reveal, giveaway info
Hello everyone! This has been awhile coming now, but I am happy to present the front cover of the new Book 1 of The Legend of Draconite: Sunstone book cover!
The cover on the proof copy turned out gorgeous. The character on the front is Tasaru Enkar, one of the main characters of Sunstone. Like I mentioned in a previous post, I posted about this art on the old blog, intending it to be a T-shirt design, and I still hope to make it that someday.
The design turned out to be simple but clear. I put my name on a graphic to make it stand out against all the line art near the bottom of the page, and the black-to-white gradient enabled me to use white text up top with black drop-shadows.

The coloring on this is minimal. I really want the reader's attention drawn to the line detail, and the coloring itself emphasizes the Draconite status and the machine Gift of the Draconite, aka the wings.
I've already inked the cover picture for Gift Search, and need to scan it in to do further editing on the computer. It will be in the same style as this one, with a different background color.
_______
February Giveaway
Near the beginning of February I will be starting the giveaway for Sunstone, to celebrate its release on February 27th on Createspace and then on Amazon.
There will be 5 packages given to 5 randomly chosen (or if there's only five entrants, those five) winners of the giveaway. The contents of the package include: a copy of Sunstone, a bookmark featuring original digital art by S.A. Thorup, and an original traditionally drawn piece of art by S.A. Thorup. All entrants will receive a free eBook copy of Sunstone.
I will detail further rules on the giveaway by the end of January. I'm excited to give these packages out and to share my writing with readers!

A New Obsession
I was reading some articles on doing book launch parties, and I realized I hadn't done something very important: thank my readers. I got onto Webs this morning (I still have the domain, but need to upgrade to Premium if I want anyone to look through the site; ergo, Blogger) and sent an email blast to people who have faithfully followed the original Xenithar's Lair, some of them for several years.
For anyone reading the new Xenithar's Lair, thank-you! From the beginning, my books would have gotten nowhere were it not for fans and interested readers. I am grateful for my readership, and I am grateful to all the people who have taught and mentored me through my years of writing. Thank-you, thank-you, thank-you!
Recently I took a closer look at Amazon Creatspace and decided based on their royalties and quality that I will be moving my books over there. Eventually you won't find any of the Chronicles of Libera on Lulu.com. I feel pretty confident moving my work over to Amazon; they have better printing prices and better royalties, and they have a much wider audience than Lulu.
Since rediscovering Createspace, I have been obsessing over a book project other than Incarnate Dream, which I also plan on publishing on Createspace. I'm really excited, because with the reasonable printing costs, I can buy more copies of my book to sell in person, as well has earn decent royalties from online purchases.
The book?
The newly edited and revised Book 1 of The Legend of Draconite: Sunstone!
More information to come on this exciting re-release!

Author and Editor, LOD Revisited
In my years of writing, I have learned more and more about editing and revising a manuscript. My years in college pursuing an English degree certainly helped. I explored grammar and story genres, and often collaborated with other writers in the classes to improve upon my writing.
It can be hard to have an objective view of your own work. It's hard to switch your mind to a reader's perspective, to pretend that you've never read your book before and to see what could be better; this is especially so when you receive critique from other writers, because they are objectively coming from both a reader and a writer's perspective (or at least they should be). It's something I'm still learning to do!
I find the revision process just as satisfying as the writing process. It's exciting to see your manuscript turning from a raw rock into a polished jewel.
Recently I've been working on The Legend of Draconite Revisited project, an editing/revision project. People on Goodreads will notice the LOD quintet listed on my written books list. However, they are currently unavailable for purchase, as the entire series is receiving an overhaul to prepare it for submissions to a traditional publisher. You can still find my other books on Lulu.com.
I also want to note here that all my eBooks on Lulu are $5. They are available as .pdfs.
Thanks for reading!
