When I was at the lowest spot in my depression I locked myself in my bedroom for three days and lied to everyone I knew. I called in sick to work. I told my mom I was seeing a doctor. I told my friends I was busy. I had successfully fooled everyone who loved me that I was making healthy changes and getting better. I wasn’t, but it was so much easier to hide and pretend that I was than to actually go outside and do something.

Step 1: Go through the projects you’re already working on and change a bunch of the characters’ first names to women’s names. With one stroke you’ve created some colorful unstereotypical female characters that might turn out to be even more interesting now that they’ve had a gender switch. What if the plumber or pilot or construction foreman is a woman? What if the taxi driver or the scheming politician is a woman? What if both police officers that arrive on the scene are women — and it’s not a big deal?
Step 2: When describing a crowd scene, write in the script, “A crowd gathers, which is half female.” That may seem weird, but I promise you, somehow or other on the set that day the crowd will turn out to be 17 percent female otherwise. Maybe first ADs think women don’t gather, I don’t know.
And there you have it. You have just quickly and easily boosted the female presence in your project without changing a line of dialogue.

The Sun Temple at Modhera in Gujarat, India, erected by king Bhim Dev I.
The Solankis, who ruled Gujarat and Rajasthan, were avid temple builders. Despite principally worshiping Shiva, they claimed lineage from Pandu, thus through this connection, legitimized their tradition of solar cults. This temple is dedicated to Surya (the sun).
The Sun Temple at Modhera, marks the grandest achievement of Solanki style of temple architecture. This temple standing on a raised terrace, contains the main temple complex, and assemble hall with a torana in front and a large flagged tank, decorated with numerous shrines. A grand flight of steps descends to the tank [visible in the third photo].
This temple is a remarkable example of fine proportion, aesthetic appeal, spiritual grace and integration of plastic embellishment with the architectural design. The sanctum-sanctorum is so designed, that during solar equinoxes, the first rays of the rising sun lit up the image of the sun-God.
Although the temple was ransacked by Mahmud Ghazni, it still has enough to convey the grandeur of its conception and the artistry of its execution.

what advice do you have for someone that has had writers block for the past 6 or 7 years?
this will sound harsh but you’re probably not a writer.
writer’s writer every day. it’s ok, not everyone is.
but if you consider yourself one, get off your ass and get back to work!! write about why you haven’t been writing . anything. just write.

Something a little more personal.
Since my move to California, there had been a lot of self-doubt about my level of talent and whether or not I should have made the choices I’ve made leading up to this point. As I’ve said in this, even when it seems as though everything’s not going well, life has a way of turning things around when you work hard enough to make that happen.
Even though what I’m saying is pretty much general knowledge, I made this more for myself than anyone else…but it’s something I hope someone could look at now and later. To remind themselves of their potential, whether they believe they have it or not. I myself still have a ways to go, but I continue creating art and remaining more hopeful than ever.
Applicable to more than just artists.
Soooo relevant.
