Release Week DANCER OF THE NILE

DancerOfTheNile_1600x2400

I’m very excited to be releasing my third book in the Gods of Egypt series – DANCER OF THE NILE!

They always say you should write the book you can’t find enough of on the shelf and for me, that would be romances set in Ancient Egypt, with the gods actively taking part in events. I write in the 1550 BCE time frame, a period of great change for the Egyptians as they threw off a foreign invader. The true events of history create many plot opportunities. I do tons of research in order to put my ch...

Weekend Writing Warriors Nightmares in Escape From Zulaire

better wewriwaOk, last excerpt from ESCAPE FROM ZULAIRE, must switch to Ancient Egypt next week, as the new book will be out. This is further along in the ZULAIRE narrative, after the group has scavenged some things they need from a burned out village and, hours of marching later, set up camp on a plateau overlooking a lake. Nightmares of the events earlier in the journey keep Andi from sleeping so she’s gone to sit with Captain Deverane, who’s got the guard duty. Creative punctuation and a tiny bit of edi...

Science Fiction Romance Brigade Presents Wreck of the Nebula Dream

THE SFRB Presents(The link ishereto find other excerpts from novels or WIP written by Science Fiction Romance Brigade group members.)

I thought I’d switch gears this week a bit and excerpt my 2013 SFR Galaxy Award winning novel WRECK OF THE NEBULA DREAM, which is a loose retelling of theTitanicsinking, set in the far future on a spaceliner. Nick Jameson, Sector Special Forces operator, has been awakened in the middle of the night, thrown from his bed by some violent maneuver of the ship. Here’s the 200 word ex...

When the Gods Of Ancient Egypt Are In Your Novels

???????????????????????????????One of the best things about employing the Egyptian gods as characters is that there were many varying legends and beliefs about each deity, so I can pick and choose the aspects that work best for my story. A true lightbulb moment for me was when I was studying a statue of Sobek, the Crocodile God, in his half human form and realized I was looking at ashifter. While the Egyptians never depicted him in full human guise, what if that was just because they never happened to see him that way? And...

Weekend Writing Warriors Save your Breath on Zulaire

better wewriwa

We’ve shifted away from Ancient Egypt for a few weeks to my newly released, best selling science fiction romance novel (story blurb below the picture). I’m thinking maybe two more excerpts from this book and then it’ll be time for Ancient Egypt again.

I’m going with an excerpt from a bit further into the book, after the war has broken out and they’re fleeing the burning compound. Andi has been talking with Sergeant Wilson about the events at the house where she’d been staying, how he and a few...

Science Fiction Romance Brigade Presents Escape From Zulaire

THE SFRB PresentsI’m a proud member of the SFR Brigade so I thought this week I’d take part in the weekly excerpts blog hop. (The link ishereto find other excerpts from novels or WIP written by group members.) The rule is 200 words or less, so here goes with 200 words of my Best Selling SFR novel ESCAPE FROM ZULAIRE. This scene is when the bad things begin to happen, as they say…(The story blurb is below the excerpt.)

The lights along the path and beside the benches flickered and went out, plunging them into d...

Interview with Djet the Cat From Warrior of the Nile

???????????????????????????????One of my author friends, Jody Wallace & her cat Meankitty (don’t ask!) have interviewed the cat from my latest Ancient Egyptian paranormal romance, WARRIOR OF THE NILE.

Here’s the first question:

1) So, nameless cat in Warrior of the Nile (whom I’m going to call “Djet” because reasons…and because the author told me it’s your secret cat name as well as the name of an ancient Pharaoh), what do you look like?

I’m a one-eared black tomcat, proudly wearing my battle scars, won in fights up and down...

Weekend Writing Warriors Escape From Zulaire

better wewriwaWe’ve shifted away from Ancient Egypt for a few weeks to my newly released, best selling science fiction romance novel (story blurb below the picture). Captain Tom Deverane is speaking to Andi, the heroine, as the excerpt starts. Although a little creative editing has occurred today, I’m adhering strictly to the WeWriWa eight sentence rule:

“Someone commits a crime, someone else takes revenge and the innocents get caught in the middle, because of who they are, who they were with, who they...

Release Day Warrior of the Nile

Warrior_ofthe_Nile_finalI’m so happy to say that the Release Day has actually arrived for WARRIOR OF THE NILE, my paranormal novel set in Ancient Egypt. The events are set in motion by the goddess Nephthys, sister to Isis. Khenet, the Warrior of the title, and Lady Tiya have to work really hard to accomplish the assigned task without dying and still satisfy the demands of the goddess.

Whenever twin goddesses are around, it’s tempting to assume one is Good and the other is Evil. But it’s not necessarily so! In Ancient...
