A Real Princess of the Nile from 3000 Years Ago

meritamunramsesSometimes you can close your eyes and almost touch the past…

Meritamen is an actual woman who lived a few hundred years after the general time frame where I place my “Tales of the Gods” paranormal novels. That’s her in the photo, as depicted by royal sculptors. She was the daughter of Ramses the Great and his favorite wife, Nefertari, and had at least four brothers and a younger sister. She played the sistrum, she danced, she sang…she was evidently a great favorite with Ramses II, being depict...

Happy Holidays Cool New Magical Take on Nutcracker Suite

HAD to share, really enjoyed this dance video. Yes, it may be the 2013 ad for Bailey’s Creambutit’s not an ad in any sense of the word…the thing to me is the very cool, modern staging of the excerpt from the ballet. I hope you’ll enjoy as I did:

And perhaps equally fun is the behind the scenes video of the “Making Of” the dance sequence. I always love to know how things were done, hear the artists talk about their interpretations, plus more snippets of dancing:

Happy Holidays to you!

The Nile Has Daughters and Dancers and Songs and Priestesses

There’s never enough fiction set in Egypt-of-the-past for me but this week happily brings a new release from Stephanie Dray => DAUGHTERS OF THE NILE (info below). Her novels are historical, based on real people and deal with Egypt in the time of Rome and Cleopatra (all of which I love to read about). As a writermyself, I’m drawn to travelanother 1500-2000 years or so further back in time for the setting of my own Ancient Egyptian paranormal romance novels.

As a Reader, I enjoy it all! Who isn’...
