So You Wrote a Book
This is exactly why I've kept my writing self hidden at my day job - like a secret identity...
Because now the new woman hired to supervise one of the departments I help out in can't stop talking about her self-published erotica book and what a fabulous writer she is.
It's not like I want to pack boxes for a living, either (trust me), but every time I walk in she starts in on the fabulousness that is her writing. She radiates self importance.
When I'm at work, I want to focus on work. Once I'm out of work I'm all about writing, networking, and reading. But I keep the two separate cause at the end of the day, my co-workers aren't book enthusiasts (at least not YA ones) and they don't give a rat's ass that I write novels. I don't expect them to. Cause I don't care about their home projects, passions - whatever - either.
So zip it, lady, and let me do my job so I can get back home and do what I love best. Write!

Photos from my first book signing event
On October 3rd,I had the great pleasure of meeting visiting author Rachael Wade and Jenni Merritt; and hooking back up with Orcas Island resident and author Keary Taylor for a book signing/reading event.
The best part was doing a book swap at the end - signed, personalized copies from all three of these fun, fabulous YA indies.

I don't usually do vlogs but...
I had no one to show the new stack of books I bought at Barnes & Noble off to.
I'm on vacation in Bend, OR and it's my 35th Birthday on Thursday so I spent yesterday morning picking out books I've been excited about for quite some time.
These all would have cost the same to purchase in eBook (totally annoying) so what the hay? I got paperbacks.
Plus there's no state tax in Oregon so I took advantage of that to.
Check out my special edition Birthday Book Haul. :) Happy reading!

Is this too cheesy? Bonus points for honesty!
Quick question to readers:
Does the name Aurora Sky for a character (a vampire hunter) living in Alaska make your eyes roll?
It's also the main title of the book so I wanted it to be cool, plus she's named after the aurora borealis.
I've had positive feedback until a friend pointed out that I could get ripped in reviews - like naming a character who likes to sing "Melody." Cringe.
She thought Aurora was fine, but I might consider the last name.
Aurora Smith just doesn't have the same ring to it.
I mean, if a hit TV series can get away with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, can't I keep Aurora Sky?
Thoughts?

A Better Blurb (Entangled)
Write an entire novel? No problem! Write a book blurb? PANIC!
Coming up with a book description unnerves me every time. And the darn thing determines whether a reader takes a closer look or Moves On. That's the power of the blurb!
The Entangled (Spellbound #1) blurb has been bugging me for months. I hoped that with enough positive reviews and word of mouth readers would look beyond it and hear that this was a fun, fast read.
Finally - tonight after several glasses of wine - I came up with something I think better hints at the wacky situation Gray finds herself in: body sharing and having to pretend to be her sister, which means dressing a different way, dealing with snotty friends, and having to fend off Charlene’s boyfriend’s octopus hands.

Entangled in iTunes Apple Store
Take a bite out of that!
Okay, I'm just really excited to have Entangled available in the Apple store. :) There's no direct link yet, but it can be found through your desktop app.
When I did a search for Entangled and iTunes on Google, I had the most fun surprise... found an interview with author Kathy Rygg.
When asked what she was reading she said: "I’m currently reading ENTANGLED by Nikki Jefford. It’s a self-published title about twin teenage witches and it’s incredibly well written!"
And I'm smiling even bigger that the interviewer pictured Entangled in the post.
