WRECKED promotion … FREE for 3 days!

We’re doing an end-of-the month promotion for the book WRECKED.
It’ll be a free Kindle download for 3 days, May 23-25.

I’m Wrecked by Elle Caseypretty excited because it’s a 2nd edition of the book.  I took all the reader comments I received and incorporated most of the advice given into this new edition.  It’s not a lot of changes, and none to the storyline, but I think you’ll find it flows better (if you read the first edition and take the time to read the new one, of course!)

WRECKED was my first book, and it’s also the only book I’d ever written in third person.  The third person point of view is a big challenge for me as a writer, and in WRECKED, it was noticeable that I didn’t quite have it down.  I hope I’ve fixed that with this second edition.  I also started using a new computer program, Scrivener, to organize the manuscript and that sure helped.

So, if you haven’t already gotten the book, please grab it.  And if you already have it, grab the new edition!!  It’s better!!!

I thank you, again, for sharing this information with your friends and family.

xoxo Elle

Awesome Indies

Sometimes, the word AWESOME just works.

I was trolling around the Ninnernet (what one of my little ones always called the Internet … she also asked for a “Barbie dot com” for Christmas one year … apparently I let her watch too much TV), when I happened across a fellow indie’s blog.

You might have heard of him …  Edward W. Robertson.   I just had to share, because I can’t get this quote from him out of my head.  It makes me want to drink a bunch of beers with fellow indies and their readers and break out into songs and wild dancing under the stars.

[BTW, This is not a paid endorsement.  It is fan mail, but unsolicited.  I do this for nothing in return except maybe some more awesomeness from Edward.]

First bit of awesomeness:  His blog slug is “Failure Ahoy!”.  Farging awesome, yes?  If you can’t celebrate failure, then you’re doomed to never try anything!  And to me, that ain’t livin’, baby.

Second bit of awesomeness:  An opening remark on one of his posts (full text below) was “It’s my book! I do what I want!

That is my new author slogan.  To me, it embodies the whole indie movement.  It totally describes my attitude.  Sink or swim …

It’s my book!  I do what I want!

Thank you, Edward, for being awesome.

“Since going free has been less effective lately (although…), I’m trying out some other strategies to see what happens. So right now, The White Tree is just $0.99 on Amazon (formerly $3.99). I plan to leave it there until Tuesday, 5/22, but I reserve the right to change that plan at any time. It’s my book! I do what I want!“

Here’s his awesome blog

I have not read any of his work yet, but believe me, I will be!  I hear great things about his book Breakers especially.  Me likey the cover.

Let’s Talk About Reader Reviews

There are lots of opinions about reader reviews and authors responding to them.  Lots of things to say.  I’m not going to give all the arguments on all sides.  I’m just going to say what I think.

I love ‘em!  I need ‘em!  I’m addicted to ‘em!  I appreciate ‘em!

So that’s why I say, “Thanks,” when I see one.  I check Amazon every single flippin’ day to see if there are new ones.  Several times a day.  I read them over and over.  I soak up every word, every syllable.  When I read a particularly good one, I rush off to my writing cave and write some more.  They inspire me and validate my existence as a writer.  They are my drugs and I am definitely addicted.  There is no 12-step program that will help me, and I don’t want one.

I have, on occasion, received a low-star review.  My response is less enthusiastic.  I get sad.  I feel for about a minute that I’m fooling myself to think I can write anything but drivel.  I start to wonder if I’ve been deluding myself.  I ask my husband if I’m really living in a mental institution where everyone humors me and I’ve imagined all these great reviews and the fact that I’m even selling books. I ask him if it’s time for more shock treatments.

Then I read the review again and see if I can pick out anything that will help me be better next time.

And I slog off to my writing cave and try to be awesome for somebody.

Why am I telling you this?  Because I wanted ya’ll to know how much I appreciate you taking the time to not only read my books, but to talk about them – online or to your friends or whatever.  Hey, feel free to talk to the guy sitting next to you on the plane, bus, or train, if the spirit moves you … or in the waiting room at the doctor’s office.  I won’t mind.

Maybe someday, that person will leave me a review that makes me feel like a successful writer.  One of those that tells me that if this is a dream, I don’t want to wake up anymore.

Clash of the Otherworlds news

Hello readers.  I’ve missed you.  I feel like I’ve been gone for so long, but I really haven’t.  I’ve just been coming down off the Book 4 high – now getting ready to jump into some other exciting projects that I wanted to tell you about.

First: Clash of the Otherworlds: Book 1, sneak peek … yes!  It’s coming!  I’ll post it tonight.  Have I ever let you down yet?  And the publish date for Book 1 is slatted for September 30.

Second: Apocalypsis, a 3-book dystopian/post-apocalyptic series with anticipated publish dates of June 30, July 31, and August 31 for each book, respectively.

If you’re interested in having a character in any of these books named after you, just let me know!  :)

That’s all for now…

Indie Author Hits the Big Time!

Hugh Howey makes all indie writers proud.  Not only is he an amazing writer, he’s a nice guy, supportive of other indie authors, and a big fan of crowd-sourced fiction.

Ever heard of Ridley Scott?  Well, he loves Hugh Howey.  Yay Hugh!
