Catching Up On Work

So I'm home, not at work.   Isn't this just the perfect time to write more on The Two Swords? Yes? I agree.   As for submissions, I'm already chock full with reviewing full manuscripts, so I will NOT be reading any more, at least for the next week.   Trying to keep sane with all these words flying past your eyes, is hard.   I value my sanity over any work I do.   Feeling slightly ill, even with my slowly waning bacterial infection of a sore throat, but I plan to do one or two Blood Talk videos

Permuted Press...er...Blood Something or the Other

This will most likely be a short post, as I'm to tell you what's happened today.   I suppose I should start with a few days ago where Permuted Press announced they were once again shaking things up in lieu of a better...everything strategy. They would be focusing on sci-fi and fantasy more so than their zombie stomping grounds, and they would be very selective in the newer authors they chose.   So, of course, when they announced this, I assumed I would be one of the ones getting the boot. Apologies

for the lack of a blog post. I’ve been swamped with work from school, reading the ‘classics,’ analyzing them, etc. And it’s been a wild ride finishing up The Two Swords. It goes without saying that the themes of love, betrayal, blood (familial as well as otherwise), are strong in the third book. I can’t wait to finish it and hand it in to the publisher hopefully before the May 1st deadline (not even sure if that’s still the deadline). That’s all, back to writing! With blood and love,

Repost from S.C.Parris.com: Bloody Work

Bloody Work

February 10, 2015

When you're a writer, especially a writer who is vampire and fantasy-inclined like I am, you often find it...trying to sit down at your desk or couch or wherever your wandering inclination for tea takes you, and simply...write.

I had numerous occasions to write The Two Swords when I wasn't attending school, and did I write? Here and there, flittering aimlessly through the 'where are these characters taking me?' to the ever-present, 'oh damn I should just start this all over and make a story that makes sense!'

Thankfully, none of these things truly won out and now with school, work, keeping house, reading acquisitions for Burning Willow Press, making Blood Talk videos, and thinking of my story when not writing (which is far too often I'm afraid), I've finally set aside the time to just write - and that is all - most - of what I plan to do today. Get the story at least half-way complete.

I'm writing this blog post because it is long overdue, and to remind myself that I have something to talk about, that I have something to share (because I often think I don't), and to keep my goals in-line with everything I've done so far.

It's not having a book out that makes one a writer, it's actually sitting down and taking the time to write.

After all, the book is the end product which makes you an author, the work itself, the time it took to write the thing, to always come back for more, is what will always make you a writer.

With Blood and Love,

P.S. What other amazing inspiration is there for writing ones book besides another mock cover?

Isn't it wonderful? Thanks, again! R. A. Moore!

Repost from S.C.Parris.com: Blood Talk; Blood Wine

Blood Talk; Blood Wine

January 20, 2015

Today was a bit crazy - and by crazy, I mean York College crazy. Long story short looks like I'll have to take out a(nother) loan. Something I seriously didn't want to do - but hey, when life throws you punches, you roll with 'em, right?

Anyway, I shot a new Blood Talk Episode:

Yup! Will edit it a bit later after I get some writing done.

I'm really proud of myself for continuing to make the videos, even with no script or anything, I started talking and the theme of the show just came together. Said theme: Vampires and why S.C. Parris likes them.

I'm so eager for you guys to see it. :)

Oh! My boyfriend got me this amazing Dracula wine from the Vampire Vineyard in California for my birthday. I cannot wait to taste it!

Well that's it for now! Check back here tomorrow for the video!

With blood and love,

Repost from S.C.Parris.com: So Excited! New Blog Posts Every Tuesday!

Quick little post:

I'm happy to have this website up and running. I'm going to start writing blog posts here every Tuesday.

Be sure to look out for them.

 Edit:

I came home from a class tonight to a great surprise! Long time friend and something of a mentor to me,Ronald A. Moore, author of one of my favorite vampire novels, Nocturn, made a mock cover for The Dark World: Book 1:

I teared up when I scrolled down my Tumblr dashboard, just in awe. At first I thought someone else had a book with the same title and then I saw my name and let out a half-laugh/shriek sound that ended with a snort.

Beautiful way to end the day. Don't be scared to click the links above and check out Ronald's work - I'm still holding onto my physical copy 'till the day I can get him to sign it.

And you can check out more fanmade things dealing with the series on my Tumblr Page as well. Who knows, you may be inspired to create something. ;)

With Blood and Love,
