I have a brand new naughty excerpt from the next Satin Rose Experience book, The Submission of a Mafia Princess (SRE, 3). I’d like to thank the hoppers from my last blog hop for voting on the title. The MS is with the editors now and I’m looking forward to a February release!

It’s too early for the cover but here’s a sneak-peek at Brax and Antonietta’s first kiss. It’s also the moment Brax realizes “vanilla” is not on the menu when it comes to Toni. In this excerpt, they’re sitting on a tucked away bench in a public park. Toni speaks first, but we’re in Brax’s POV. (Warning: this unedited excerpt is rated NC-17 for language and overall hotness):

“Brax, would you kiss me?”

He turned back toward her, struck with the honesty and innocence in her stormy blue eyes. Brax swallowed hard and cupped her cheek in his palm. Her glance darted from his eyes to his lips. Capturing her soft sigh, he brushed his lips against her mouth. His growing arousal  became up close and personal against the zipper of his jeans as he lightly sucked her bottom lip between his teeth and grazed along her plump skin. Whimpering into his mouth, she parted her lips further. Brax squeezed his eyes closed and pulled away with a growl, afraid he’d scare her with the force growing within him.

She opened her eyes and gazed at his lips once again. “Now fucking kiss me like I know you really want to,” she said in barely a whisper not breaking her gaze at his mouth.

His breath caught in his throat at the intensity in her eyes.

“Fuck.”

His free hand palmed the back of her head and pulled her hair so that her chin tilted to the sky. Zeroing in on the hollow valley between her jawbone and neck, he nipped the pulse point at her throat. His teeth captured a pinch of skin and bit lightly. A groan vibrated from her throat as he followed it with a sweep of his tongue. The soft breeze swept strands of her hair over his forearm. Gathering her locks in his fist, he wrapped the silky rope of glossy hair around his palm. Her hitched breath sent a jolt straight to his cock which strained further against the unyielding denim. He guided her head down and touched her forehead to his. Deep blue eyes bore into his as if she was sending him a silent message. With a groan he wasn’t sure came from his throat or hers, his lips were upon hers again, capturing her tongue with his. Sweeping his tongue over her teeth, he acquainted himself with her mouth. She moaned softly, leaning into his body. Not trusting his next move, he broke their kiss. Visions of carrying her to a remote wooded area of the park and binding her hands so that they rested helplessly just above her luscious ass flooded his thoughts as his hardened thickness strained against his jeans.

Hooking his thumb under her chin, he lifted her glistening lips to his face.  “You undo me,” he said stealing another kiss.

She whispered his name as his teeth grazed along her bottom lip once again. Warm breath escaped from her parted lips and blanketed his face. His mind raced to a vision of Toni slipping off of the bench and kneeling in front of him. Imagining her wide stormy blue eyes waiting for his next command, he pulled away suddenly, leaving them both breathless. Her fingers raked through the back of his hair and pulled his head back toward her swollen lips for more.

He released her hair, sat back and pinched the bridge of his nose. Like a moth to a flame, he couldn’t help looking back at her bruised lips. He squeezed his eyes shut knowing if he didn’t get moving he’d regret what would happen next.

“Better?” he joked, trying to lighten the mood

Toni touched two fingers to her lips and smiled. “Yeah, that was quite an improvement.” She looked down at his hand which he didn’t even realize encircled her wrist. Shit. He pulled his hand away and stood abruptly.

“We’d better go,” he said and held a hand out for her.

Some first kiss, huh?

Bunino’s 2012 TOP TEN List of SMOKIN’ HOT Reads #topten #eroticromance

Wow! It’s December 31st already! I’ve been sorely lacking in my All Things Girl posts but I was hard at work completing the third book in my SRE series. It’s with my publisher for review so keep your fingers crossed for me!

I figured the last day of the year is a great time to share my Top Ten smokin’ hot picks of 2012. After spending some time playing with my shelves on Goodreads and stealing an idea from a good friend, I picked my faves of the year. I just have to say, I was shocked to learn I’ve read 76 books this year! That’s a lot of sexy, baby!

Now, I have to preface my list with this disclaimer: I’m not a fan of M/M. I also don’t read many paranormals or historicals. Oh yeah, and fetishes don’t work for me either. With a few exceptions, you won’t find many of those sub-genres on my list or on my Goodreads shelves. I read primarily M/F contemporary erotic romance with a little menage sprinkled in for flavor.

Okay, here we go….

My Top Ten Picks of 2012, David Letterman style…

#10 Reckless in Moonlight by Cara Bristol

I discovered Cara’s books while reading Six Sentence Sunday snippets. She’s a wonderful author and I waited anxiously for the release of Reckless in Moonlight with every snippet she teased us with before it was out. This May/December story didn’t disappoint. Dana and Lon’s passion jumped from the pages and their love story warmed my heart.

#9 Hostile Takeover by Joey W. Hill

This was probably the hardest-core BDSM book I’ve read this year. I picked Hostile Takeover up as I started writing my SRE “BDSM-lite” series to learn more about the lifestyle. This book is #5 of the Knights of the Boardroom series. Now. I’m one of those readers who actually likes to read a series out of order. I know, weird, right? Anyway, it was an intense story with lots of sexy action. One scene on a restaurant terrace comes to mind!

#8 Vixen and the Pea by Lila Shaw

Vixen and the Pea is from Evernight Publishing’s line of Naughty Fairy Tales. Lila puts a sexy spin on the beloved Princess and the Pea story. This is one of the most well-written erotic romances I’ve read this year. Lila weaves a delightful tale of Prince Koldo and his sexy exploits with Fleur, a commoner he meets in a nearby village pub. There’s more to Fleur than meets the eye and all bets are off when she risks everything during the contest of the Golden Pea.

#7 Curio by Cara McKenna

Curio is a sensory treat that will sweep you in from page one. From the cover this book seems like a great erotic romance. Once you dive in you’ll find it to be that and so much more. Caroly and Didier each have their own demons to fight but become learn to face their shortcomings as their relationship grows. Cara has since turned Curio into series which I look forward to reading in 2013.

I interrupt the countdown with a public service announcement for ePublishing houses everywhere: eBooks SHOULD NOT cost more than 8 bucks. Period. I refuse to pay more for an eBook, with one exception: Roni Loren.

Now on to #6…

#6 Crash Into You by Roni Loren

Roni published three books in 2012 and all three earned spots on my top ten. She’s the only author I’ll pay $10 to download one of her books, and I do it happily. Yes, her full novels are in that price range and in fairness to Roni, publishers set book prices, not authors. Anyway, it’s totally worth it! Roni’s debut, Crash Into You, has a little bit of everything. Mystery, action, romance and a whole lotta sexy. What word comes to mind when thinking about Crash’s hero Reid Jamison? Alpha-yummy. He’s my perfect hero. Fate forces ex-lovers together at “The Ranch” a private BDSM compound where the heroine, Brynn goes undercover as a sexual submissive. One especially steamy M/F/M scene comes to mind and I’ll never look at caramel sauce the same.

#5 Inside Bet by Katie Porter

Katie Porter is the pseudonym for the writing team of Carrie Lofty and Lorelie Brown. Inside Bet is Book 2 in the Vegas Top Guns series and even though I hadn’t read the first one, I didn’t feel as if I missed anything. This is a story of seemingly straight laced Heather Morris and the slightly younger, red hot fighter pilot Flyboy, Jon Carlisle. A flirty night leads to a Vegas table bet which winds them in bed for an agreed upon night of vanilla sex. Needless to say, one night was not enough for either of them as their sexual boundaries are tested. Word of advice: keep a glass of ice cold water or the man of your choice nearby when reading Inside Bet.

#4 Long Shots Trilogy by Christine d’Abo

This trilogy was recommended to me by a reviewer friend and I’m glad I listened to her! Long Shots is actually three stories in one download. Each story focuses on one of three siblings in the Long Family, joint owners of the Pulled Long Cafe. I liked Sadie’s story, loved Paige’s story and was just lukewarm about Ian’s tale simply because I’m not a male gay romance reader. The fun and snarky banter between the siblings really enhanced the reading experience for me and by then end of book 3 I found myself wanting to run out for a cup of coffee at their shop. Long Shots has something to whet every erotic romance reader’s appetite… menage in Double Shot, BDSM in A Shot in the Dark and M/M in Pulled Long.

#3 Still Into You by Roni Loren

Still Into You was the first book I read from Roni Loren. I was drawn to the story because the H/h were married but their marriage had lost its luster over the years. I love how Seth, who is desparate to save the relationship, comes up with a solution in the form of giving Leila three days at The Ranch. No rings, no attachment, no questions asked. But if you think Seth plans to sit back and allow his wife to fall into another man’s arms you are mistaken! Leila soon finds out there’s a kinky bad boy within Seth and he’s ready willing and able to bring him out to play.

I went back and forth on the order for my top two books of 2012 and this is what I decided on…

#2 If I Were You by Lisa Renee Jones

I read this the week before Lisa Renee Jones announced she sold her self-pubbed story to publishing powerhouse Simon and Schuster and it’s a good thing I did because the current Amazon price is hitting my eBook cost ceiling. I think it was $3.99 as a self-pub. Anyway, the story begins with heroine Sara McMillan reading a sexy journal found in an abandoned storage unit written by a mysterious gallery manager named Rebecca. Sara is drawn into Rebecca’s life while trying to locate the missing woman and meets a sexy but dark artist in the process. I read this almost four months ago and it still haunts me today. It was that good and worth the current price.

Drum roll please…..

The BEST erotic romance I’ve read this year is……..

#1 Melt Into You by Roni Loren

What can I say about Melt Into You? *sigh* It was amazing and I had a big smile on my face as I read it. I’ve adored Jace from Crash and Still, so I was happy to see him front and center but…hold the phone, ladies…in walks Jace’s roommate, Andre. *fans self* and look at that… found my new favorite Roni Loren hero. I’ll back up a bit. Jace and Evangeline were each other’s first loves. They meet while Evan is engaged to a celebrity who just happens to be gay. Evan ends up at The Ranch compliments of her fiance and his lover and Jace is there to help make her fantasies come true. Jace is afraid to lose his heart to Evan and brings in sexy man Andre to keep his emotions in check. Little does he know Andre has the hots for Jace. I really didn’t do the story justice with my summary. Just read it, I promise you’ll love it. Note on Roni’s 2012 books: The publisher is changing the cover art in favor of a Fifty Shades look so if you go to look for them, you may see different covers. IMHO, the originals are better, just sayin’.

It’s here! It’s here! The FINALE of THE TRAIN RIDE #FreeRead #BlogSerial

Alexis stepped onto the platform at New Haven’s Union Station. Her wobbly legs were a pleasant reminder of the sexiest train ride she’d ever taken. Stopping at the station cafe, she bought a stale cup of coffee and found a nearby bench to rest and collect her thoughts. Inhaling a deep breath, she released the captured air slowly through her lips while watching the passengers hurry past her. Everyone was always in such a hurry this time of year. Holidays were meant for taking the time to enjoy the little things in life, not for stress and aggravation. The holidays were the perfect time to do something outside of your comfort zone. Something special. Something like her the tryst with Tristan in the dark row of seats of the quiet car. She smiled, the holidays are about doing what she had just done.

After downing the remainder of her coffee, she threw the cup in a nearby garbage can as she walked toward the station exit. Pushing open the door, the cold air whipped around her sensitized skin causing every nerve ending in her body to stand on end. Her time with Tristan left her wanting more.

She needed more.

Scanning the parking lot she spotted the glowing brake lights of the familiar white pickup truck with the name Winters’ Construction written on the side of the driver’s door. She trudged through the slush to the passenger side and opened the back door. Placing her briefcase and purse on the backseat, she spotted a pair of coveralls in a heap on the seat. Slamming the back door, she stepped to the front and pulled the handle. Her gaze rested on a pair of hot pink panties and bra hanging from the rearview mirror. She yanked open the heavy door and climbed inside.

“Hey there, beautiful,” said a deep voice.

Alexis leaned over and planted a kiss on the driver’s stubbled cheek.

“Thanks for wearing the suit, Kev. I know how much you hate ties. It was a nice touch.”

He shifted the truck into reverse and casually draped his hand on the headrest of the passenger seat. Before stepping on the gas pedal, his fingers grazed her cheek. “I sacrificed because I know how much it turns you on.”

“How’d you know?” She smiled and admired his strong biceps and shoulders as he backed the truck out of the parking spot. His muscles were not made from gym workouts, but from years of using his body to build and renovate many of the houses in their sleepy seaside town.

He chuckled and jerked his head toward the backseat. “That magazine of yours. Don’t you know I read it cover to cover each month before you even get your hands on it? How’d you think I learned my mad lovemaking skills?”

“Mad lovemaking skills, huh?” she snorted.

He waggled his eyebrows.

“Okay, I’ll give you that. But Tristan? You almost had me rolling on the ground with that name. Where’d you come up with it?”

“You got me.” He shot her a sly smile. “In between Cosmo issues, I’ve become a fan of erotic romance novels. Tristan was the dude’s name from the last one I read.”

“You? Romance novels?” she asked and giggled. “Next thing I know you’ll want to join my book club. I’ve never pegged my handsome contractor husband as a romance reader.”

“Only for you, baby. Which reminds me—“ He reached behind his seat and pulled out a wrapped single rose. “—Unfortunately, there wasn’t a dahlia to be found at the train station. You couldn’t name yourself Rose, could you?”

She took the long stemmed red rose from his hand. “Dahlia’s more adventurous, don’t you think?”

“Ever since I married you, it’s been one adventure after another. First, you scared the crap out of me by having your cop friend arrest me so that we could get down and dirty in a jail cell and now this,” he said with a chuckle.

“I didn’t hear you complaining at the time.” She giggled.

“You’ll never hear a complaint from me, Alexis Winters. So, what’s it going to be next Christmas?”

“I say we join the mile high club.”

“You’re reading my mind,” he said and lifted the back of her palm to his lips.

Happy Holiday *Sandwich* Week!

Hey there, my friends!

Happy Holiday Sandwich Week! Well, that’s what I call it. It’s the week between Xmas and New Years when kids are home from school, relatives are visiting, vacation days are used, and if you’re like me and working this week, the office is like a ghost town.

Here in the Northeast we were just blanketed with a fresh coat of snow and ice. AB is outside right now shoveling the long and steep driveway. Yeah, the snow is pretty and it’s fun to watch the husb working hard with his hands but what am I thinking on days like this? Let’s move to a tropical island and leave this all behind, that’s what! A girl can dream, can’t she?

Anyway, this has been a productive holiday for me because I’ve just finished the next book in the Satin Rose Experience series, The Submission of a Mafia Princess! BTW, thank you to my readers and blog hoppers for helping me choose the title! #YouRock! For those of you who’ve been asking for a longer SRE – I think you’ll be pleased! So, it’s off to a couple of Beta readers today and then on to the publisher for review. Here’s hoping they will love the story and characters as much as I do. I’m not finished with the blurb yet, but here’s a peek at the H/h, Brax and Antonietta.

Grandma’s Molasses Cookies, anyone? #christmascookies

Here’s another easy and delicious recipe for the holidays…

Old-Fashioned Molasses Cookies

Adapted from Grandma’s Molasses

These are a Bunino family favorite! The cookies should be soft, so be sure not to over bake. They will look very moist and underdone, but will set completely while cooling.

The key to ultra-yumminess is to roll them in sugar before baking. You can even use red and green colored sugar crystals for a fun and festive look.

Makes 3 1/2 to 4 dozen

2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

2 tsp. baking soda

1/4 tsp. (generous) salt

1 tsp. cinnamon

1 tsp. ginger

1/2 tsp. cloves

3/4 cup shortening, at room temperature

1 cup (packed) light brown sugar

1 large egg, at room temperature

1/4 cup molasses (not blackstrap)

1/4 cup granulated sugar

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger and cloves. Set aside.

In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat the shortening, brown sugar, egg and molasses on medium high speed until combined. Add the flour mixture and beat on lowest speed to moisten. Increase speed to medium and beat until combined, scraping down bowl as needed. Chill dough in freezer for about an hour or in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.

Preheat oven to 375 and line baking sheets with parchment paper. Place 1/4 cup sugar in a shallow bowl. Scoop dough by rounded tablespoons and roll between your palms into 1 1/4 to 1 1/2-inch balls. Roll in sugar and place on baking sheet about 2 1/2 inches apart.

Fill a glass with cold water. Dip your fingertips in the water and sprinkle each ball of dough with a few drops (this makes the crinkles). Bake one sheet at a time in the center of the oven for 8 to 9 minutes, or until cookies have spread, but still appear quite moist (they will not look “set” or done, but they are). Slide parchment onto counter top and cool completely.

Not only are they delicious but these cookies make the house smell wonderful during the holidays. Frazzled Gal’s Guide to an #easy #holiday

Do the holidays have you in a tizzy? If you’re anything like me and you’re running from the EDJ (evil day job) to your kid’s ______ (fill in the blank with practice, school play, concert, lessons, etc). Oh, but first you have to grab that last minute gift for the office secret Santa so you run to the dreaded mall and, oh yeah, the family needs dinner so you pick up a pizza before you get to go home to relax. Relax?? No way! There’s wrapping, baking, cleaning and decorating to be done!!

This time of year can make your head spin. So I’m sharing a couple of tips to make your holidays just a little less stressful.

First, here’s one of my favorite holiday go-to recipes. It’s super easy (trust me, I do not cook and I can make these) and a you can even wrap a couple of scoops in a cellophane bag with pretty ribbon for a quick gift.

SUGAR COATED PECANS



1 egg white
1 tablespoon water
1 pound pecan halves
1 cup white sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Directions

Preheat oven to 250 degrees F (120 degrees C). Grease one baking sheet.
In a mixing bowl, whip together the egg white and water until frothy. In a separate bowl, mix together sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
Add pecans to egg whites, stir to coat the nuts evenly. Remove the nuts, and toss them in the sugar mixture until coated. Spread the nuts out on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake at 250 degrees F (120 degrees C) for 1 hour. Stir every 15 minutes.
