Don’t Miss this One! PURELY RELATIVE by @Claire_Gillian_
This graphic doesn’t come out a lot but I’m showing it large and in charge today. That’s because it’s my BFF’s and long lost cross country sister from another mister’s Book Birthday week. I’m talking about Claire Gillian’s release of Purely Relative.
I had the pleasure of getting my hands on a copy early and it was everything I’d hoped it would be and more. You see, Claire’s first book, The P.U.R.E., was one of those rare stories that had me thinking about the main characters long I finished reading the book. I was anxiously awaiting the companion story and it doesn’t disappoint! Not only is Gayle as adorable and Jon as sexy as I remembered but we now get up close and personal with Jon’s family, especially his sister Jenny (my favorite secondary character in The P.U.R.E.). We’re also introduced to other interesting Cripps family members. I’d love a story about Jon’s little brother. *hint hint*
Read on for The Lazy Gal’s Guide to Writing Books by Claire Gillian…
Hi everyone and thanks to Sandra for opening up her blog to me today. I have a new book that released on April 30th called Purely Relative. It’s a contemporary romance sequel to my debut novel, The P.U.R.E., a romantic mystery.
One of my favorite sayings is, “If you want something done as efficiently as possible, assign it to a lazy person.” By this logic, lazy people really aren’t lazy, they’re just very efficient players of the odds. So what the hell does that have to do with my new book? Hang on…I’m getting there. Another saying is “write what you know” with the implied adjunct of: “and if you don’t know it, research it until you do.” So to recap so far, we have low effort on the one hand and high effort on the other. Does this mean I’ve written an autobiography? Ha! Good answer, self…but no. It means I have to be careful about where I draw the line between fiction and reality, but if I do it well enough, few people will notice if it’s blurry or squiggly and my lazy self will conserve energy.
My first novel, The P.U.R.E. was about newly hired CPA off to a very rocky start at her new power job. OK I totally knew that puppy! I lived it…er a few decades ago. I’m calling it close enough though. No further research required. I just tapped the old memories, updated the feminized power suit, 86′d the pantyhose and silk scarf ties and swapped out the Easy Spirit sensible pumps for a pair of Jimmy Choo stilettos (purchased on credit) that I saw in a recent issue of Style magazine while waiting to check out at the grocery store. Good enough. Next.
The P.U.R.E. and Purely Relative are set in Dallas. Bingo! Like the main character, Gayle, I too started my super-duper CPA career in Dallas, Texas, and also like Gayle, I was new to the city. Great! Insert tales of getting lost, naively blundering into the bad sections of town and I’m almost there. But cities have an annoying habit of growing, sprouting new roadways and being remodeled over the span of several decades. Big sigh. No avoiding it any longer. Research time…but as little possible…and thank God for Google!
But the biggest blessing of all is…at the end of the day, it’s FICTION! Plus I don’t want to infringe on any copyrights or trademarks by naming real places, ya know. Yeah, that’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it! ***yawn*** Is it efficiency recharging time already?
***
But before I snooze, let me tell you a little bit about Purely Relative where even less research was needed to continue the sometimes funny, sometimes angsty romance of Gayle Lindley and Jon Cripps. You certainly could be lazy and skip The P.U.R.E. going straight to Purely Relative, though I wouldn’t recommend it. There’s a time and a place for laziness after all.
Blurb:Unemployed and living far from home, Gayle Lindley is nevertheless lucky to be alive after narrowly escaping her murderous ex-employer. She’s also thankful to the boyfriend gods for having blessed her with a former co-worker. Jon Cripps is brains, brawn and bedroom-certified, all in one delectable package. Life is finally on the uptick.
…Or so Gayle thinks until Jon pops the big question—no, not marriage, but meeting the rest of his family. What he neglects to mention is his loose familial definition also includes the parents of his ex-fiancée. And too bad Gayle has already met one sibling while engaged in a vigorous mattress inspection with Jon. Everyone will think she’s a man-stealing hussy!
As Gayle tiptoes into the bosom of Jon’s extended family, she is deluged with more secrets than even her curious nature can absorb. But the drama hits hardest when Jon, mysterious as ever, drops a bombshell that threatens to unravel every single stitch of progress she has made with him and his … ‘interesting’ relations.

ALL THINGS GIRL: 18 Must-Date Men to Sample
I found this list a while ago and refer to it when researching traits for my heroes and thought it’d be fun to share it with you.
According to The Stir, women should date eighteen types of men before settling down with one.
Why?
For a few reasons. First, you’ll learn the guy traits that drive you crazy (a/k/a the “dealbreakers”). Second, you’ll find certain traits are must haves (the “non-negotiables”). Last, you’ll have a ball finding and dating them all!
Here we go:
The musician. He loves his music and may sometimes choose the groove over you. Something all women who date music men must deal with. The sex is usually great, too, so that’s an added bonus. The mountain man. Can an outdoorsy type of guy find true love and harmony with a city girl in heels? Only one way to find out.
The hippie. Dude. You should find out if you love tie-dye tapestries as curtains and the smell of patchouli before you take the plunge.
The skater. This could also be the surfer, snowboarder, or motorcycle man … any guy into extreme types of sports. Many of these guys are tough on the outside, super sweet on the inside.
The gamer. Sharing your guy with a remote control takes a special kind of woman.
The corporate type. Never say never, even if you are an indie DIY type.
The skinny guy. Some women love being with a guy thinner than they are. Some really don’t.The overweight guy. Never ever discount a guy because of his weight. He could lose it and get healthier. And being with a guy much bigger than you makes you feel really petite. And he often tries harder in the bedroom.
The asshole. Just because you need to get this type out of your system. And being with a jerk prepares you for those moments when Mr. Right acts like a poopstain.
The older guy. Too mature or just right?
The younger guy. Age may or may not be nothing but a number.
The nerd. I think they can be kinky.
The guy with a lot of money. You deserve to be spoiled and know what it’s like to live without worrying about rent.
The guy with no money. It’s humbling and savvy to know what it’s like to live worried about rent and what to eat. Makes you stronger.
The weirdo. Kink factor here again, but he could also be a deep thinker and make you expand your mind.
The guy who has a kid. A glimpse into what a guy could be like when he’s a dad. A peek into parenthood can make you learn a whole lot.
The wimpy type. If you can kill spiders, then the wimpy guy might be a good match for you. But it’s good to find out if this quality irks you or not.
The macho type. Makes some women swoon, others cringe.
What are your dealbreaker and non-negotiable traits? How many of these types of guys did you date before settling down?

HOT NEW RELEASE: Elyzabeth M. VaLey’s A DRAGON’S HEART, A DEMON’S BLOOD
I have the very adorable Elyabeth M. VaLey with me today to talk about her HOT NEW RELEASE, A Dragon’s Heart, A Demon’s Blood. Elyzabeth is one of the most versatile authors I know. She moves from her historical Mercenary Tales series to a hot Naughty Fairy Tale (The Golden Cock) to sexy contemporary (Welcome Aboard – I’m dying to read this one!) with ease. So it didn’t surprise me she had this paranormal erotic fantasy up her sleeve. Take it away, Elyzabeth!
Hi Lovelies! I’m thrilled to be here with Sandra today talking about my latest release A Dragon’s Heart, A Demon’s Blood. In previous posts (you can see the full list here) I’ve talked about the realms the characters visit, the music, the creatures…today, I’m offering something special. The following piece is part of the prologue of the story, the difference is that in A Dragon’s Heart, A Demon’s Blood it’s told from Adrian’s point of view. Here, it’s the Demon Queen, Zendaya, the one that’s doing the “talking”. I hope you like it. *smile*
Zendaya leaned forward on her throne. Placing her elbows on her knees, she clasped her hands before her face and dedicated a fleeting glance to the man kneeling at her feet. His shaggy mane of dark hair hid his features from her. She didn’t need to see him. She knew exactly who he was. Adrian Ormonde. Legendary hunter. Zendaya grinned.
“Leave us.” Her raspy voice echoed in the stone hallway and she watched amused as her slaves scampered to abandon her presence. All except her counselor, Bram. He stood perched at her left elbow, silently waiting.
“Did you not hear me, Bram?”
“Zendaya, I don’t think it’s wise for you to remain in this hunter’s presence alone.”
Grinding her teeth, Zendaya bit back a nasty retort. Bram was more than a good counselor and friend. He was the only one whom she allowed to call her by name. Every queen needed someone she could trust. Most of the time, Bram’s advice was wise and well rooted. Other times, like at the moment, he was a bothersome fly.
“I appreciate your concern, Bram. Now, leave us.” She glanced at him, making sure her eyes turned into an icy blue, conveying her impatience.
“As you wish, Zendaya. However, I beg you to remember the warlock’s council.”
Zendaya laughed. An ex lover had once told her the sound of her laughter reminded him of shattering glass. Another had compared it to the peel of thunder. Bram said it was the laughter of a queen. She agreed.
“Why do you think I have brought Ormonde to me?” She asked, finally veering around to face her adviser. Bram lifted a blonde eyebrow, his dark blue eyes questioning her. She grimaced. She hated when he gave her the professor look.
“Get out,” she murmured, turning back toward her guest on the floor.
“As you wish, my lady.” She scowled, feeling him bow behind her, his tone dripping with sarcasm.
Zendaya waited a few seconds until Bram’s footsteps could no longer be heard. Finally, she stood up. Throwing back her head, she descended the three steps that separated her dais from the populace’s area. Her bare feet were noiseless on the carpet as she approached the hunter in steady, confident steps. Her black robe billowed behind her, a cool draft filtering through the smoke holes in the ceiling. The robe parted at the middle, revealing her creamy white skin. Her nipples puckered beneath the silky material and liquid rushed to her core at what was to come if all went as planned.
Stopping a hand span away from his bent form, she waited. Still, he didn’t glance at her. She smiled. She had to admire his iron will. Most prisoners she’d had in this position hadn’t managed to hold back.
“You may look at me, Ormonde.” Settling her eyes into a peaceful brown, she waited for the man to lift his gaze to her face. Nothing happened.
Zendaya bit down on her lip with impatience. “Ormonde. Look at me,” she demanded.
There was no reaction. Adrian Ormonde remained kneeling before her, his head bowed between his hands as if he were worshiping the very ground she walked on.
Unfortunately, she had no desire for worship, at least, not now. She needed him to look at her. Hovering her hand above his head, she debated whether to touch him or not. Would his hair be as soft as it looked or would it tangle in her long nails? Impatience gnawed at her gut and she grabbed a handful of his hair, pulling hard. Ormonde’s head snapped back and she swallowed the gasp lodged at her throat. She had dealt with handsome men before but the hunter’s beauty was beyond anything she’d ever encountered. He was a raw gem. Dark hair and green eyes the color of forgotten forests. He stared at her in angry silence.
“I told you to look at me.” Running her fingers across his hair, she took in a shaky breath. Ormonde stared at her with those enormous eyes framed in black lashes. He was inspecting her, dissecting her with them. Zendaya balked as her gaze dropped to his full mouth, the urge to feel those lips against her almost overwhelming. Stepping back, she released his locks and slightly shook her head. What had come over her? She always prided herself in holding the enemy’s gaze. This was a first. She blamed the color of his eyes. Green eyes had been extinct from her kingdom long before she was born.
Adrian Ormonde’s gaze swept over her and heat flushed her skin, the apex between her thighs burning like the fires of Mount Fougo. The succubus in her demanded release but she closed her eyes, tampering the demon.
Taking a deep breath, she recalled her purpose in bringing the hunter to her kingdom.
“I’d like to make you an offer.”
Blurb:
He is a shadow in the dark, smelling your scent and sensing your fear…
Legendary bounty hunter Adrian Ormonde is no ordinary man. His life is filled with secrets and questions, blood and lust. His only concern for 150 years has been survival and discovering the truth behind his demon-dragon nature.
Until he meets his new assignment: Victoria Green.
Victoria Green has felt eyes watching her every move ever since she can remember. Then, Adrian appears. The eyes vanish but new dangers arise as she falls for the mysterious hunter. Cast into an ancient conflict between dragons and demons, Victoria must trust Adrian’s skill to be enough to protect her from both the outside world and that which grows within her.
Chance brought them together but will love and passion be enough to keep them joined? Or will the other forces at play in the dragon-demon worlds destroy them forever?

Excerpt:
Glimpsing at the tent in his jeans, she gasped.
“Already?”
In an instant, he was upon her, his mouth devouring hers and making her legs weak.
“You make me lose control, sweetheart, and I’ll be damned if that hasn’t happened in years.”
His hands slid down her waist over her hip and onto her thigh. Her breath hitched as she searched Adrian’s dark eyes.
“Already, you ask?” He sneered, his calloused fingers rising higher and caressing the junction between her legs. His fingertips skimmed over her labia, finding her wet entrance. His grin became smug. Adrian’s nostrils flared and his eyes flashed red as he dipped two fingers inside her, wringing out a breath she’d not been aware of holding.
“You’re already wet for me, sweetheart.”
Bringing his lips down to her, he stole another short kiss that had her whimpering against him.
“Adrian.”
She hugged him, bringing him closer and searching for his warm touch again. His eyes scanned her face, his gaze softening.
“You don’t want this, sweetheart.”
“Yes, yes I do,” she replied pushing herself against his hand. His thumb brushed over her clit. Victoria tensed. Her orgasm hung from a cliff, ready to fall.
“I do want it.”
Tangling her fingers in his hair, she pulled him to her mouth, teasing the seams with her tongue. He groaned and she tasted him with longing. Sucking on his tongue, she made love to it as he pleasured her with his fingers. Her body became a mass of over-sensitized sparks as he coordinated his thumb with his seesawing digits. His hand on her waist, held her in place as she humped against him.
“Come on, sweetheart.”
His husky baritone triggered her release. Victoria cried out, her pussy convulsing in short waves, hot liquid dripping onto Adrian’s fingers. Her towel fell to a heap on the floor as she lost control, the cool breeze doing little to soothe her heated skin. She wanted more. She wanted all of him.
Victoria moved to embrace him but he stepped away from her. Drawing his fingers into his mouth, he briefly closed his eyes emitting a barely audible sound of pleasure. When he opened them again, she gasped. Red sparks danced in his green depths.
“No, Victoria. You don’t want this.”
Shaking his head, he turned around and strode out of the room. Victoria stood rooted to the spot, watching in shock as he left the apartment, the main door slamming shut. Tears dampened her vision. Picking up the t-shirt he’d given her, she put it on. More tears trailed down her cheeks as the smell of detergent mingled with his scent. Taking a deep breath, she hastily brushed them away.
“Get a grip, Vicky.”
Wrapping the discarded towel around her wet hair, she strode to the kitchen, her stomach growling. She didn’t think she’d find anything edible in the small kitchen, but luckily Adrian kept a box of cereal and a few cartons of unopened milk. Digging into the meal, she shivered slightly as an unsettling feeling grew in her chest. The watchful eyes were back.
Author Bio:
Defined as weird since she was about eight, Elyzabeth honors the title by making up songs about her chores, doodling stars and flowers on any blank sheet of paper and talking to her dog whenever he feigns interest.
Losing the battle to the voices in her head is her favorite pastime after annoying her younger sister with her singing. Writing stories full of passion and emotion where love conquers all is her happy pill and she’ll forgo sleep to make her readers live the dream.

ALL THINGS GIRL: The Ultimate “O”

Yup, I received the new issue of Cosmo in my mailbox this week and I need to share an article titled “So Crazy It Might Work…” which caught my eye.
Have you heard of orgasmic meditation? Neither did I! Apparently there’s a technique called “OMing” involving stimulating the upper-left quadrant of a woman’s clitoris to extend the “sensory peak” thus achieving stronger orgasms.
The article goes on to explain there’s a company specializing in OM lessons. One Taste, the San Fran based company with nine satillite locations throughout the US, sponsor an annual OM Conference where Orgasmic Enthusiasts come together and attend stroking classes. You can even earn your OM badge.
And who says Cosmo isn’t educational? I may need to write an OM session into my next book.
How’s that for a segue into the next leg of the MAROONED WITH THE MILLIONAIRE blog tour?
Here are this week’s stops. Come on by and say hi, won’t you?

HOT NEW RELEASE: Michelle Clay’s LIGHT THE SHADOWS @ChellesyClay

Today’s HOT NEW RELEASE is a red hot paranormal from Michelle Clay! Don’t miss this Evernight Editor’s Pick!
Blurb:
You only get one chance at life then you die. The game’s over, no second chances. But she was never one to follow all the rules.
In a strange twist of fate, a woman flees purgatory only to jump into a newly vacated body. When she wakes in the hospital, she has a brand new life and a whole lot of unanswered questions. Now she’s Micah Munroe, a real estate agent with broken memories of the messed up life she once lived. A mysterious man who claims to be Death says she’s his granddaughter and that she’s something called a grimm.
Sully knows she’s an imposter because he reaped the soul of the real Micah only a week ago. He suspects she might be a misplaced shadow, what he calls spirits and vengeful ghosts. He becomes obsessed with finding out who she really is and just how she inhabited a new body. He’ll stop at nothing to find the truth and send her back to purgatory where she belongs. What he didn’t bargain on was how his body would react to her or how powerful the white light within her is.
When a powerful shadow and her horde of angry spirits kidnaps Sully’s best friend, they must work together to get him back. Fighting their feelings for each other isn’t half as difficult as fighting the army of shadows bent on starting a war with the living.
Excerpt:
His husky drawl sent a vibration of hunger through her and ignited a fire deep within her core. “You are so fucking hot.”
Recapturing her mouth, he pressed against her, proving just how hot, how hard she made him. Micah whimpered, and he drew his mouth away from her lips. Just like his tongue and hands, his incredibly sexy eyes ignited a fire within her.
“Sully.” She bit her lower lip and reveled in knowing she was the reason he was so hard.
His fingers were at her waist, unzipping then dragging the dress pants down her hips. Micah trembled with need as he shucked them from her legs and dropped them onto the floor. He closed the space between them, and her thighs closed around his waist. Her sex drowned with desire, clouding her mind with seductive thoughts and want. With him so intimately close, his hard-on pressed against her through the damp lace of her panties. She shifted her hips, and Sully rewarded her with a groan.
“Tell me something.” He grinned wickedly then slid his fingers up her inner thigh. They inched closer to her pool of desire and made her heartbeat race. “Are you wet?”
Her hands lifted from his shoulders, ran through his silken hair and down to his chest. Her nimble fingers fluttered across his shirt and even reached the second button before his hand closed over hers, stilling it. He prevented her from going any further by pulling her hand to his mouth. One by one, he kissed her fingers.
She frowned and pulled away from him to look up into his eyes. “Sully, I want…”
“I know what you want, doll.” His eyes glittered with feral passion.
A gasp shuddered past her lips when Sully’s index finger slid past the ribbon-thin panties then traveled downward. His finger slid through the tight coils of hair at the juncture of her thighs then lightly grazed her most delicate area. She clutched his shoulders and tightened her thighs around him. “Sully!”
“Want me to stop?” His voice was full of gravel and sexy as hell.
She nipped his bottom lip. “Don’t you dare.”

Spotlight on Lorraine Nelson’s CAMERON’S QUEST
I have a special treat for your today! It’s fellow Evernight author, Lorraine Nelson’s Release Day for Cameron’s Quest, and I’m helping her with her one-day blitz. Lorraine and Cameron’s Quest heroine, Lacey, join me today for an interview about their new story.
Thank you for having me here today! I had a fun time doing this interview. ~ LN
Lacey’s Most Embarrassing Moment:
LN: That would be when Cam comes in to catch Lacey bouncing on his bed.
Lacey: Darn! I’ll never live that down.
LN: Nope! He caught you.
Lacey: Hey! It was just so much bigger than what I was used to.
LN: Hmm, hmm. I was talking about the bed.
Lacey: So was I, but now that I think about it…
Finish this sentence:
LN: When Cameron arrived in Ireland, you were…
Lacey: Overjoyed.
LN: No way! You didn’t give the man an inch all the while he was there.
Lacey: Well, I didn’t want to come across as too easy.
LN: Shouldn’t that end with ‘the second time around’?
Lacey: *Shrugs her shoulders* Well, it’s difficult to keep my distance from that man.
LN: *Smirking* Apparently.
Favorite Scent:
LN: Oh! I’ve got this one…lilacs.
Lacey: Nothing flowery for me. I like a light musk.
LN: How boring! Is that what I smell?
Lacey: This happens to be a very subtle scent, and besides, Cam likes it.
LN: Hmmm, gotta have a talk with that guy.
Favorite Movie:
Lacey: Anything with Clint Eastwood in it.
LN: *snort* That’s a favorite actor, not movie.
Lacey: He has so many good ones, I couldn’t name just one.
LN: Why not? Can’t make up your mind?
Lacey: Good question coming from the queen of indecision while writing my story.
LN: That’s because you gave me a hard enough time, trying to tell me what to write.
Lacey: I had to make sure you got it right.
LN: Ha! Give me a break, will ya? I brought you into this world. I can take you right back out.
Lacey: *Superior grin* No one else wanted to put up with you, so you’re stuck.
LN: There are many more where you came from, lady.
Lacey: But none fit the bill as good as I did, and besides, it’s a done deal. Our book releases today.
LN: Our book? Actually, this is Cam’s book, you’re just one of the main players.
Lacey: Well, you wouldn’t have a book without me.
LN: Sure I would. He could’ve fallen for the girl next door.
Lacey: Ha! Too clichéd!
LN: And that’s why I conjured you up. I so love a happy ending.
I love happy endings too, Lorraine!
Cameron Manning has never forgotten his first love. Of Irish descent, he met red-haired, fiery tempered Lacey Kerrigan in England, but her family returns to Ireland unexpectedly and they haven’t any means of contact. He finds her and receives the surprise of his life.
Lacey is thrilled to see Cameron, but is afraid of being hurt again. She keeps her distance and rebuffs his advances while he’s in Ireland, certain that a long distance affair will never work. But when tickets arrive for her to visit his home in Canada, she realizes his love is true and is willing to give them a second chance.
Fate intervenes when they find a murdered man on Cameron’s back deck. All evidence points to Cameron as the killer. Can their reawakened love survive the stress of a murder investigation? Or will it be the catalyst that drives them apart forever?

Jason Royce wants to be your next #BookBoyfriend @sandrabunino
They can be strong and sexy, dark and dangerous, rebellious and reckless or cute and quirky. We love to fall in love with these irresistible heroes and Evernight Publishing has them all!
The authors of Evernight invite you to a Speed Date challenge. Their cowboys, Doms, detectives, millionaires, royalty, vampires, soldiers, shifters, even steam-powered heroes are waiting to meet you on each author website. 50 heroes in 7 days! Are you up for the challenge?
Pull up a chair and get to know every single one. I’d love to introduce you to my hero, Jason Royce from Marooned with the Millionaire. I agreed to turn my blog over Jason for the hop (he’s very convincing), so take it away Mr. Royce!
Thank you for the introduction, Sandra. I understand there’s a book boyfriend contest going on. So what’s it going to take? Diamonds? A week at my private villa in Vegas? How about a new car? You name it because I don’t like to lose. Ever.
I may come off intense. Some might even say I’m arrogant, but I didn’t build Royce Homes from the ground up by being a push over. When I see something I want, I get it. Take Stephanie, for example. I knew she’d be mine from the moment I saw her waiting for the hotel elevator in Miami’s South Beach.
Here’s a look at what happened the night we met:
The key turned easily in the lock, and Jason pushed open the door to her suite. A flood of soft flickering light surprised Stephanie and beckoned her inside. She scanned the small sitting room. It featured an overstuffed sofa and armchair. A trio of candles rested on the coffee table along with an ice bucket and with what appeared to be an opened bottle of white wine. Next to it sat a single wine glass. Stephanie looked from the wine to Jason, arching her eyebrows. “What’s with the wine?”
“For you—that’s why there is just one glass. Have a good night, Stephanie.” He reached for her hand, touching her wrist lightly before capturing her fingertips in a loose grip and bringing her knuckles to his lips. She couldn’t tear her eyes away from the mouth that burned so hot on her skin. Her thoughts returned to the kiss they shared earlier that night. In just a few hours, her opinion of this very sexy man in front of her changed. She had pegged him for an arrogant jerk and now, she wasn’t sure how she felt. One thing was for sure: she didn’t want him to leave.
“I feel horrible about taking the last room and that you have to walk up twelve flights of stairs to the penthouse. You’re welcome to stay. Here, I mean.” She gestured to the couch.
Jason strode to the coffee table, picked up the glass and slowly poured the wine. He handed her the glass with an unwavering gaze. “As long as you’re okay with it, I think I’ll take you up on your offer. I’m sure I’ll be gone before you wake in the morning.”

Imani Parker has had it with just friendship with Skylar Magee. Saint Patrick’s Day will either make them a couple or break them. Teaser:
“Boxty on the griddle, boxty on the pan; if you can’t make boxty, you’ll never get a man’.” –Irish Folktale
“Girl, do you even know how to make Irish food?”
Imani looked over at her sister Sonia and laughed. Sonia had the most skeptical look on her face. “Yes, Soni, I can make Irish food. Besides before Sky’s mother passed away she’d sent me her recipes for everything that I’ve made for him tonight.”
Sonia crossed her brown eyes and made a silly face at her, and Imani could not stop the laugh that escaped.
“Do you think I’d try to pretend I knew how to cook it? If I did that this whole plan could backfire.”
“What are you planning on making him?” Sonia took a deep breath. “Least it smells good in here, so I guess you do get what you’re doing.” She chuckled.
“I’m making bangers and mash, along with corn beef and cabbage and boxties.”
“Okay, I’ve heard of the first two, but what the heck are boxties?”
“Basically an Irish potato pancake.” She couldn’t stop the smile that spread over her face as she perused her sister.
“So tell me your plan again?” Sonia questioned.
“Basically, Soni, Skylar has been feeling homesick. I plan to show him some Southern California comfort via the Irish way.”
“Ah, so the whole ‘the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach’ deal?”
“In a nutshell, yes, that’s exactly my plan. Sky hasn’t been himself lately and the closer we got to today, which is Saint Patrick’s Day, it’s gotten even worse. I want to show him that home is wherever he lays his head and that I can take care of him and give him what he needs. I want him to smile again.”

The first few pages of MAROONED WITH THE MILLIONAIRE on #ReleaseDay
It’s here! Marooned with the Millionaire hits virtual shelves today! This title is a combination of my previously released Marooned in Miami and Lusted in Las Vegas. The two novellas were combined and enhanced for Evernight Publishing. Special thanks to authors, Kasanna and Robin Badillo for helping me share my new release today. I’ll post blog tour information tomorrow with a host of great stops and giveaways!
A fierce Miami storm bring sexy strangers together at The Hotel Del Santos for a night of desire.
Stephanie, still reeling from a failed marriage, needs a break from the past. Shying away from the convention center crowds while on a business trip, she finds solace tucked away in a secluded hotel on South Beach.
Jason, a wealthy Seattle builder, has the worst luck with love. He swears he will never allow another woman to get under his skin, until the clicking of a pair of sexy stilettos across the hotel lobby floor attracts his attention.
Cut off from the outside world, the lives of these two strangers collide and burn with desire when a storm strands them together. Neither wants anything more than a glorious one-night stand.
Their chemistry is undeniable and propels them to a second meeting in Sin City. However, Stephanie soon learns she has more reason to be wary of her mysterious lover than a broken heart.
The first few pages:
A crack of thunder startled Jason Royce from deep thought as he stared into his short glass of bourbon at the hotel’s bar.
“Señor Royce, you’re quiet tonight, is everything okay?” asked Carlos, the hotel’s bartender.
Jason looked up from his glass and gave Carlos a small smile. “Yeah, Carlos, everything’s fine, although I wish this storm would move out to sea. The grand opening of the Pearl Del Mar is in a couple of weeks, and I’m worried about the schedule. I have a new project breaking ground in Salt Lake City a month from now, and I’ll need to move my operations over there soon.”
“I’m sure it will blow over, just like all the other storms we get here in Miami this time of year.” Carlos’ eyes flitted to the lounge entrance. “I haven’t seen Miss Jessica yet during your stay. Is she here with you?”
Jason tipped the glass to his lips and swallowed the last of the liquor. “No, I’m afraid you won’t see Jessica here again. At least not with me.”
“I’m sorry to hear that, señor,” Carlos said and poured more golden liquid into Jason’s glass.
Jessica. Young and beautiful was always a dangerous combination as far as Jason was concerned. Jess had him convinced she was not with him for his money, and he actually believed her. Maybe it was wishful thinking, or he simply let his guard down. That was until a few weeks ago when he came home early from a business trip and caught her in bed with their personal trainer, Rex. Personal trainer my ass. He cursed the decision to hire Rex, not to mention the thousands of dollars of state of the art gym equipment he bought.
He’d just wanted to make her happy and comfortable after she moved into his Seattle mansion two months ago. Jessica burned him, big time. If walking into his bedroom and catching them in the act wasn’t bad enough, what hurt him most was she didn’t even try to explain or ask for forgiveness. Jessica simply packed all of the clothes, jewelry, designer shoes and handbags he’d bought her and left. She even withdrew every dime from their joint checking account without a word. Cold. That was the only word to describe her actions.
Jason pledged to swear off women, at least until he could cool down and clear his head. But Jason was a sucker for high heels and the staccato clickety-clack of heels sounding through the lobby easily distracted him from his conversation with Carlos. Swiveling in his barstool, he first spotted those sexy black stilettos. His eyes wandered up her toned calves to her tight linen skirt. Since she was facing the elevator, he leisurely admired the way her skirt hugged her tight ass. Did he just imagine the outline of thong panties through her skirt? He needed to know more.
“Excuse me, Carlos.”
Walking toward the mysterious woman, his glance traveled up to glossy, thick, dark hair that flowed down her back as she animatedly talked on the phone. She was sexy from behind, and he wasn’t disappointed when he approached her at the elevator. She was taller than he expected, probably just about six feet in those heels. Her linen suit showed off her curvy body. She was preoccupied with her conversation, so he used the opportunity to admire the way her silk blouse tugged around her full breasts as she moved. He curiously wondered about her story. She was definitely a high maintenance woman. Rich housewife? No, she carried a laptop bag and was in the middle of a business conversation. He was even more intrigued.
****
“Rick, I’ve told you why I like staying here, I just need a break from the pharma crowd. You know I’m not into the after-hours drinking and partying scene at the Convention Center hotel,” Stephanie Thomas explained to her boss, shaking her head.
Her job as a pharmaceutical rep involved extensive travel and as she panned the lobby, she smiled in appreciation of her find. “My hard work paid off. You should see this place. It’s beautiful, quiet and relaxing, just what I need right now.”
Rick called her a “Google Goddess” because her favorite past time was researching hotels near her business meeting locations. She took pride in finding obscure accommodations with understated elegance.
“Just be forewarned, Rick. If the next three deals go like this one, I’m staying another night on you!” Stephanie laughed. “Yeah, I didn’t think you would mind too much.”
Downtime was important to Stephanie. These trips provided her an outlet to wind down from the everyday stress of her job and personal life. Not that she had much of a life outside of her job recently. Her divorce finalized only the month before, and she was still reeling from the experience. This was a much-needed retreat to decompress if only for a few days. Her chosen oasis for this particular stop in Miami was The Hotel Del Santos off Ocean Drive. The Del Santos, only steps away from the white sandy beaches of Miami’s South Beach, had her attention from the second she laid eyes on the website. Its inviting old world charm welcomed visitors to the front patio with potted ferns and tropical flowers. The lobby’s expansive windows showcased the beautiful wood moldings and ornate chandeliers that cast soft shadows on its high ceilings.
“I’m about to get into the elevator now. I’ll send you the specifics when I get up to my room.” The account was a big win for her, and she was excited about what the new business would do for her sales numbers. She poked the “Up” button of the hotel’s elevator with a manicured finger.
An angry crack of thunder boomed, and a flash of lightning lit the entire lobby. The chandeliers all flickered in unison as the elevator doors opened. Swearing under her breath, she looked down at her three-inch heels and considered walking up the six flights of stairs to her room.
“Hey, is it okay to take the elevator in this storm?” Stephanie called to the front desk clerk who nodded and gave her a small wave. A night stuck in the elevator was not in her plan. She debated
for a moment about walking up barefoot when she heard a low voice to her right.
“How about we chance it together?”
She spun around to see the source of those words that washed over her like a slow-moving current. Stephanie’s breath caught when she turned toward the source of the silky voice. A man stood before
her with his eyebrows raised as if he were waiting for an answer. He appeared out of nowhere; surely she would have noticed him in the lobby. Dark stubble covered his chiseled cheekbones below dangerous blue eyes. Stephanie’s heart raced, while she imagined her fingers combing through his dark wavy hair. Stop it! She shook her head slightly, hoping the action would rid her mind of thoughts that were relighting embers in her belly. An angel and a devil sat on her shoulders: one said kick off those heels and walk up all of those damn flights of stairs, but the other told her to take him up on the offer. The devil was winning. Hell, the front desk attendant didn’t foresee an issue with the elevator, so why should she?
Stephanie’s eyes narrowed, careful not to give him any indication of the attraction she felt, even though his dark hair and tanned complexion made her insides turn to mush. There was something about his presence that made her feel sexy. She couldn’t make sense of the feeling. Heat coursed through her veins and straight down to her core. How could a stranger have that effect on her? I’ve got to start dating. I’m turning into a horny mess. She hurried into the elevator and pushed the button for the sixth floor. He followed closely behind, slid his key into the PH slot at the top and pushed the button.
Waiting for the elevator to arrive at her floor, she wondered if he was checking her out. Looking down to brush her hand over an imaginary piece of thread on her skirt, she stole a glance to her left. Mr. Sex on a Stick looked straight ahead with a smug look on his face. Ah, one of those—good looking, rich and arrogant as hell. Doubts of her decision to board the elevator entered her head as the car painstakingly climbed the floors. The elevator’s floor display slowly changed from 2 to 3 when the lights flickered and the car screeched to a stop. Stephanie screamed in terror when the floor lurched from her footing and all went dark. The elevator car only dropped about an inch or so, but it alarmed her enough for her purse and laptop to slip from her hands as she attempted to stabilize herself against the wall.
“Oh my God, we’re going to die,” she choked, on the verge of tears.
“Sweetheart, we’re not going to die. We’re stopped between the second and third floor. The front desk knows we’re in here, just calm down and for God’s sake, please don’t scream again.” His voice poured out slow and deep, like honey.
How could he be so calm and smug at a time like this? “Let’s just get one thing clear here: you stay where you are. I swear, if you take one step toward me, I’ll kick your ass. I know self-defense.” Stephanie tried to muster as much authority as possible and cursed her shaky voice.
“I’m sure you can kick my ass. Those heels you have on are lethal. Not to worry, I don’t need to hold a woman captive. They come to me quite freely, if you know what I mean.”
“Oh wonderful, I’m stuck in here with an asshole.”
He simply laughed as the elevator shimmied.
Tears streamed down her face and Stephanie screamed again. “Oh, God, you really are upset. Shit.” His voiced softened.
“Listen, here’s what you need to do. Sit down.”
Stephanie slid down the wall into a back corner.
“Okay, now with your knees up, lean forward and take deep
breaths,” He said as she tried to stifle a whimper, which came out like a sob.
“Shit,” he said under his breath. “I’m going to come and sit next to you, okay? No sudden movements. I don’t want to be impaled by a heel.”
“Don’t do me any favors,” she said in barely a whisper. “I’m fine,”
“You’re not fine,” he said as he slid down next to her on her left. Warm hands encircled hers, and she immediately felt just a little safer.
“That’s it, deep breaths in and out. Now, what’s your name?” “Stephanie,” she said between deep breaths.
“Nice to meet you, Stephanie. I’m Jason.”
