HOT NEW RELEASE & #Giveaway from Evie Knight #ArielsSong

Happy Friday! It gives me great pleasure to introduce you to one of my favorite writerly ladies, Evie Knight. Evie and I share a love of steamy romance, strong Alpha-sexy heroes and David Gandy. ;) She’s also an incredibly kind and generous friend.

I’m so excited to share her debut release with you. I started reading Ariel’s Song this week and ohmehgosh…it’s hot, hot, hot! You’ll love it! Here’s Evie to tell you a little about  her new release and giveaway. See, I told you she was generous! Take it away, sweets!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thank you so much, Sandra, for hosting me today and letting me share with your readers my new release titled, Ariel’s Song.
To celebrate the launch of my new release, I have a tour wide giveaway and I’m also gifting an ecopy of Ariel’s Song to one lucky commenter at each blog stop.
So, let me introduce you to Colin.
What does Colin look like?
David Garrett is my version of Colin.
How old is Colin?
He’s thirty-one-years old.
What’s interesting about him?
He’s British and his music is his own brand.
What rules Colin?
He is ruled by emotion and sometimes that gets him into a lot of trouble. Colin trusts no one, and believes in love but wants none of it.
There you have him!
About Ariel’s Song:
Colin Hoskins, famous classical violinist, is tainted by his past. Angry at life, unable to move beyond the betrayal of his dead fiancé, he’s sworn off performing or falling in love ever again. All Colin wants is to be left alone, except no one listens. Especially the pretty little assistant he can’t fire and his body burns to claim.
Stranded in a foreign country, bankrupted heiress Ariel Parks needs a job to fund her way home. Assistant of sorts to the musician she’s fantasized about for years sounds like a dream job. She never imagined the gorgeous genius would be a reclusive beast. But the real problem is the way every nerve in her body tingles at the mention of his name.
Sneak Preview:
Colin glanced at her hands on his desk then fixed his gaze on her. “Why are you here, Ariel?” He stepped forward, towering over her by a good six inches.
“I-I need a job.” Ariel took a deep breath, regretting it a second later when the combination of bergamot, grapefruit, and a hint of lavender in his fragrance teased her nostrils. Gosh. How was she supposed to form any coherent thoughts when her dream man stood so close to her, smelling this good? She’d forever regret taking this trip. If she’d known how her luck would change overnight, she would’ve stayed in New York.
He placed his hands next to hers on the desk, his face an inch away from hers, his warmth enveloping her from head to toe. “If that’s the reason you’re here, I’ve got news for you.” He paused, touching the tip of his nose to hers. “I don’t have a job to offer.”
She swallowed, blood rushing through her veins. “Why did you—”
Colin angled his head, his mouth almost brushing hers. “I didn’t, my agent did.” The heat of his breath kissed her lips.
Ariel closed her eyes, imagining he’d kiss her any second now. She’d know what it felt like to be kissed by Colin Hoskins. She’d come looking for a job, she’d be kissed instead. Not what she needed at the moment. Kisses didn’t pay rent or kept her fed. Then again it wasn’t an everyday occurrence a master musician—the man she’d always dreamt of—kissed her senseless.
“Ariel,” he said.
Her name sounded melodic coming from him.
“I’m not the man I used to be. Do yourself a favor. Leave me the hell alone.”
What? She opened her eyes as he spun away and walked to a large Victorian glass window on the far end of the room, not once looking back at her.
Heat flushed through her body as she stared at his back. Colin wore black from top to bottom, which suited the dark persona he liked to portray to the media, except she wasn’t media. She was Ariel Parks, a bankrupted heiress, in need of a freaking job. She righted her clothes, well aware of the state of her damp panties.
“Go to hell, Colin.” Ariel strode out of his study without another glance at him.
Mid Week Tease: Kiss Me #MWTease #NaNoWriMo
Happy #NaNoWriMo Day #6! I’m slightly below my target but I’m catching up a little each day. :) Here’s a snippet from the same story I’ve been teasing for the past few weeks. It’s my focus for NaNoWriMo and the longest work I’ve done so far.
In this unedited scene, Hunter and Michelle find as hard as they try, they cannot keep their hands from each other…
“Your lips are saying no but your body tells me something else.” He pushed his thigh into the warmth between her legs. She closed her eyes and choked back a groan. Lifting her arms above, he pinned them against the wall on either side of her head. His eyes became dark and his expression changed. “You shouldn’t get involved with me. It won’t end well. I’ll hurt you.” Hunter straightened his back but didn’t loosen his grip on her arms.
“I don’t think you can hurt me. I’m not scared.”
His lips upturned into a smile. “No. Not physically. You’re right. I could never hurt you like that. But you will get hurt. I’m not capable of giving or feeling…or offering anything to you.” He shook his head.
Michelle wriggled her arms from his palm but he still didn’t move. Her fingertips lingered on his corded forearms, which flexed under her touch. Easing a trail toward his shoulders, her fingers reminded Michelle of a paintbrush’s first dab of color on a fresh canvas. She’d always believed each canvas had a personality of its own and it was the symphony of the brush, artist and canvas which created the work of art. Each component had its job and the work couldn’t be successful without each performing at its highest level.
She studied his arms still caging her in. Protecting her. Wanting her. Her eyes flicked to his face and met his gaze. He stared at her unmoving, but a spark burned in his eyes. She held her breath, afraid to break his trance. Smoothing her palms over his shoulders, she continued down his chest, stopping at the center of his ribs. Pushing into the muscles of his chest she felt the strong beat of his heart on her fingers.
“Your lips are saying no but your body tells me something else.” She turned his own words around. Raising her eyebrows, she dared to look him in the eyes. Almost afraid of what she’d see. The veil of anger lifted and a chuckle erupted from his chest.
“Clever.”
“Kiss me, Hunter.”
“I can’t make you any promises. I’m fucked up.”
This time it was her time to laugh. “That makes the two of us. Just kiss me, damn it.”
His breath burned hot on her cheek and he squeezed his eyes closed. “Michelle…”
Here’s my vision of Hunter and Michelle:
Mid Week Tease: Throwing Punches #NaNoWriMo #MWTease
Happy Halloween! *Gulp* Ready or not National Novel Writing Month starts Friday! Woo-hoo!
I’m sticking with my (unedited) story, tentatively titled Before You, this week. Next week’s tease will be the first of my #NaNoWriMo words. Good luck to all of the participants. Feel free to buddy me on the NaNo site, I’m sbunino.
Michelle found the address on the nondescript white card. “Max’s Gym” with an address and phone number. She was expecting a gym filled with weight and cardio machines and maybe some spin classes. What she found when she opened the basement level door was anything but typical. The aroma reminiscent of a high school locker room flooded her senses immediately. He eyes adjusted to the dim light to find two boxing rings and an assortment of punching bags dangling from stands, walls and the ceiling. A few men donning boxing gloves gave her a once over and a crooked smile that said ‘you’re in the wrong place, sweetheart’.
“You lost?” a gruff female voice asked.
Michelle spun around and noticed the woman behind the desk. “What?”
“Ya look lost.”
“I’m meeting someone here,” she handed the woman the card.
“Yup, you’re in the right place then, I’m Max.” She offered Michelle a calloused hand. “Is this the guy you’re supposed to meet?” Max jerked her head toward the window and Michelle turned and caught a flash of Hunter rushing down the stairs. A whoosh of cool wind bit her cheeks as he swung open the door.
“Good morning, Maxie. Have you been entertaining my new student?”
Michelle crossed her arms. “Your what?”
“Student. I’m going to show you how to defend yourself.”
Between his words, the noise of gloves hitting punching bags and the pungent smell, nausea rose in her throat. “I…I don’t think so.” She rushed past Hunter, pushed open the door and climbed the stairs to the sidewalk. Stopping, she took a few deep breaths of fresh air. Footsteps sounded behind her.
“Where you going? I thought you wanted to learn to fight?”
She spun around. “Where’d you get that idea? I can’t fight, Hunter. I don’t have it in me.”
“I think you do. Come on back in and give it a try. If it’s not for you, you don’t have to come back.”
Michelle shifted her weight from one sneaker to the next. Her gaze moved from the gym door to Hunter.
“Trust me on this, it’s great therapy. I know what I’m talking about.” He held out his hand. Something about his eyes made her want to stay.
Michelle nodded and took his hand. “Okay, I’ll give it a try.”
She walked back in with him and stopped at Max’s desk. “Do you have any gloves Miss Willis may borrow?”
Max ducked under the counter and pulled out a few pairs of gloves that looked older than most of the equipment in the place. “You should be able to find something here.”
Michelle examined the gloves. Was that dried blood crusted on one of the pair? She picked out the cleanest looking set and followed Hunter to a long black bag.
“Okay, put the gloves on and hit the bag.”
Michelle stared at him. “Just like that? Don’t I need to know where to stand and how to throw a punch?”
Hunter nodded. “We’ll get to that. For now I want to see what you got. Everyone has an innate ability to fight. It’s the fight-or-flight response when you’re feeling threatened. I’ve seen your flight response a few times. How about letting your fight come out?”
Mid Week Tease: It’s a Dark Moment #MWTease #NaNoWriMo
Is it Wednesday again? Wow! Time flies as we get closer to the start of NaNoWriMo. So, a lot has happened this week. I attended the NJ Romance Writers conference where I submitted the first page of my story to what they called ‘Anonymous Authors’. Basically, someone reads excerpts in front of a panel of editors, agents and a room filled with authors. The E & As then offer some immediate feedback. There was only time for a dozen or so first pages so mine did not get read. However, never say never in this industry, my friends! A few of the editors/agents who couldn’t attend the session asked for the submissions and I received two requests for more! Yessss!
Here’s my submission to Anonymous Authors…
         Her scream broke the labored hum of air conditioning unit churning in the window. A scuffed work boot stood firm against the door as Michelle pushed her weight against the door from the other side. “I said to leave me alone.” She tried to keep her voice calm and even. She knew John Stevenson enough to understand he thrived on fear, especially when he’d been drinking. Beads of sweat dripped down her brow as she glanced at her cell phone sitting on the counter of her small kitchenette. It would be impossible to reach it without leaving her spot at the door. Hell, he was first a first-string linebacker, she be lucky to hold him back much longer.
“Come on, let me in just for a moment.”
“You’re drunk, go home and sleep it off.” She prayed he’d listen to her. Please, just this once. Please God.
His voice softened. “I just want to talk, Mickey. Come on.”
“Don’t call me that.” Her voice cracked. Tears welled in her eyes as she dug her heels into the rug and pushed with every ounce of strength she had left. The door gave an inch or two as he moved his foot and she lost leverage for a spit second. It was all he needed. With a crash, the door flew open throwing her body to the floor. She cringed as meaty fingers encircled her wrist and yanked her to her feet like a rag doll. In one fluid move, he twisted her arm and sandwiched her body between his chest and the wall. His breath blew in short hot pants against her ear. “You little slut. You know you want it, you’ve been teasing me with your tight ass in that little miniskirt all night.”
The smell of cheap beer permeated her surroundings as bile rose in her throat. “No. You’re wrong. Get out, now!” she bit out between clenched teeth.
His sweaty palm covered her mouth as his other hand pulled her denim skirt over her ass. A jean-covered knee pried her legs apart and blunt fingers dug into her sex. He licked her cheek once and a low chuckle erupted from his throat. “You’re so full of shit and like it or not, you’re getting my cock in your luscious cunt.” He jammed another finger into her channel before taking his hands off her body. The reprieve was short lived and a sob erupted in her throat when the scrape of his metal belt buckle and tick of his zipper filled her ears.
My Writerly Weekend #NJRW
I love the few days each year I spend chatting and listening to authors, editors and agents. This happened to be one of those weekends.
My friend and fellow author, Claire Gillian, made a pitstop before returning to the west coast from her business trip and we attended our first NJ Romance Writers Conference.
What a fun couple of days! Kudos to NJRW for bringing Scrivener expert, Gwen Hernandez to the conference for an extended workshop on the writing program. I just started using it and I’m now up to speed on most if Scrivener’s bells and whistles. If you use the program or are just curious about it, check out Gwen’s website. Other fantastic workshops I attended were hosted by authors Christine Bush, Vicky Dreiling and Madeline Hunter. I especially loved Madeline’s synopsis writing session. Not only did I learn how to write a great synopsis, but she also made me realize I should ratchet up the conflict level of my current WIP. Thanks, Madeline!
The last informative sessions were the Editor and Agent Panels. I walked out knowing sexy contemporaries are not only alive and well, they are one of the most sought-after romance sub-genres. Yes!
Of course there were lots of romance goodies and I want to share them with you! Leave me a comment below about anything (romance genres you like to read, what you did this weekend, the last book you read…really, anything!) and I’ll randomly choose one commenter Tuesday night to win my NJRW totebag and 5 paperbacks shown here (US and Canada only). Be sure to leave your email address in the comment:
Happy Reading!
xoxo
Mid Week Tease: First Meet Scene #MWTease #NaNoWriMo
Hey there, my friends! Happy Wednesday! I’m getting in the writerly mood because 1) I’m headed to the NJ RWA Conference this weekend and 2) I just signed up for NaNoWriMo! For those of you who may not know what that crazy word is, it’s short for National Novel Writing Month. It’s a worldwide challenge to start and hopefully finish a 50,000 word novel during the month of November. Hard? Yes. Impossible? Definitely not. If you’d like to give it a try, sign up! It’s free and a great challenge. Even if you don’t “win” it’ll give you a jump start at writing that novel you’ve always wanted to write.
I’m looking forward to sharing my NaNoWriMo progress during the Mid Week Teases. Today I’m running a snippet of one of my WIPs. I love this story, but it needs to simmer a little so I’m going to put it away and work on something else for my NaNoWriMo project.
This is the scene where the H/h, Hunter and Michelle, first meet…
Jacey smiled. “This is Hunter, Alex’s brother. He was the one who first saw your work from the gallery window.”
Michelle’s eyes flicked up to meet his for a fraction of a second before she averted her gaze back to the table. “Hello,” she said in barely a whisper.
Hunter tilted his head trying to regain her gaze. “You’re talented.” She straightened her back as his hands moved over the table, looking over her samples. “But you didn’t bring the self portraits from the gallery.”
“No. Um. They seemed to be out of Jacey’s price range.”
Hunter snorted. “I think everything is out of Jacey’s price range.”
Jacey stood and nudged Hunter with her hip. “Look at this one. It’s perfect for Alex.” She pointed to a canvas propped against the back of a chair. It was a picture of a pub on a city street. “I know where this is. It’s that historic bar on Houston, right?” Hunter looked closer at the painting. The details were perfect. “You painted that? It almost looks like a photograph.”
Michelle’s face brightened and she nodded as her eyes met his again. She held his gaze for a second longer than the last before moving her attention to the painting.
“Let’s take it into Alex’s office and see how it looks.” Jacey picked up the canvas as the door opened and Alex rushed in. “I forgot my wall—” He stopped. His eyes flicked from Jacey to Hunter then to the table where Michelle’s artwork was displayed. “What are you up to?” he asked, folding his arms and walking to the table.
“Alex!” Jacey whined. She blew out a noisy breath. “It was supposed to be a surprise. This is Michelle. She’s an artist from a gallery in SoHo.”
“Hi. Nice to meet you,” Alex said and offered his hand. He glanced at the painting samples on the table. “Wow, these are really good. This one reminds me of the picture of our grandfather’s pub in Ireland, doesn’t it Hunt?”
“Yeah, it’s the bar we like over on Houston. But it does look a lot like the original McAvery’s.” Hunter nodded.
“I knew you’d like that one. I was going to buy for your birthday.” Jacey said proudly.
Alex snaked his palm around Jacey’s waist. “Jace, sweetheart. That’s a nice thought but you don’t have to do that. But this gives me an idea I’ve been thinking about doing.” He turned and pointed at the long bare wall next to the bar. “I want a painting right there. A really big one. Like a mural.” He held his hands up to the wall and turned to Michelle. “Can you do that?”
Michelle blinked, her eyes shifted from the wall to Alex. “A mural?”
“Yeah. Can you paint it from a picture? Hold on a moment.” Alex stuck his index finger up and walked swiftly to his office, humming along the way.
“Oh shit. He’s humming,” Hunter’s attempt at humor was for the benefit of the visitor standing next to him. She shifted from one foot to another, seemingly uncomfortable. Michelle bit her lower lip as he studied her from the corner of his eye. Over the past three years working at the bar, Hunter got pretty good at reading people. She wore a thin veil of normalcy but underneath she was panicking. Her eyes met his before her gaze darted to the floor.
Alex returned with a picture Hunter knew well. “I want this—“ he handed the picture to Michelle. “There.” He pointed at the wall.
“I-I don’t know if I could do it. There must be mural artists in the city you can hire,” she said looking at the picture.
“I’m sure there are but I like your work. I want you to do it. So what do you say?”
“There’s no arguing with Alex once he’s made up his mind,” Hunter chuckled.
“It’ll take a while and I have a job at the gallery,” Michelle said glancing up from the picture.
“No rush. You can work on it in your spare time. I’ll make it very worth your while.”
Her eyes moved back to the picture then to Hunter. Licking her lips she nodded. “Okay. I’ll do it.”
Mid Week Tease: An Oh-So-Sexy Foot Rub #HISAnthology
Oh Yes! It’s time for a little tease. In honor of Evernight’s Birthday Bash I’m posting a snippet from my story in the HIS Anthology, The Mobster’s Promise. My sexy friend, Michelle, aka Ms. Romantic Reads, interviews four HIS Antho authors today! Click over for some behind the scenes HIS info.
Do you like foot rubs? Roarke gives an awesome one…
“Give me your feet.”
“My feet?”
“Don’t tell me you don’t remember the famous Velasco foo rub?”
Warmth melted over her body as she slipped her shoes off and rested her feet on his lap. “I don’t know, Velasco, the remote- controlled drapes, fireplace and a foot massage. Seems to me you’ve had your share of ladies up here.” Leaning back she closed her eyes and let his hands take over. “Do you remember the first time you did this to me?”
Cradling her left foot in one hand, the thumb of the other circled the tender skin of her arch. “If I recall, I think it lead to the first time for something else.”
The pad of his thumb moved to the base of her toes where he rhythmically rubbed small circles under each digit. Julia moaned, her eyes still closed. “Are you trying to seduce me?”
A low chuckle filled her ears. “That depends. Is it working?” “I miss the feeling of silk sheets.”
“So, you’ve been in my bedroom?”
“Maybe.” Her eyelashes fluttered, and she raised her eyebrows.
He placed her feet on the cushion next to him. In one fluid swoop, he lifted her into his arms and carried her to his bedroom. Pushing open the door, he slowly let her body slide over his as he set her down at the foot of his bed facing the mirror above his dresser.
“This isn’t a good idea,” she said staring at his reflection deftly unbuttoning her blouse and sliding it off her shoulders.
“I can’t think of a better one,” he whispered before he took her earlobe between his teeth.
Mid Week Tease: Losing Control #MiasSubmission #MWTease
Happy Hump Day! I’m running with a snippet from Mia’s Submission in honor of Evernight’s Birthday Bash. You can get Mia’s Submission for free this week just for purchasing Tie Me Free on AllRomance eBooks!
“Damn it, Mia. Look at me,” he whispered. Her eyelids opened and fluttered as a tear escaped before her eyes locked on his.
“From the minute I stepped through the door and saw you shivering in the corner I wanted to take you into my arms and kiss you, comfort you.”
“Why didn’t you?” she whispered back, narrowing her eyes. “Don’t you get it? If you want this, you need to know what it’s
like, you need to be trained and if I’m not capable of doing it, I’ll be forced to give you to another Dom. I won’t…” He placed his forehead to hers. “…I can’t. If I kissed you then, I would’ve lost all control.”
Mia melted into his firm body and wrapped her arms around his neck. Her lips lingered over his so that they were almost touching.
“Mia…” he whispered as his hands cupped her face.
He brushed his parted lips over hers, moaning into her mouth. She pulled him closer and his mouth crushed hers as his tongue searched for its mate. She met him and they tangled for dominance. Pulling the towel from her body, he kneaded her heaving breast in his powerful hand.
Mia nimbly loosened and pulled off his tie before making quick work of his shirt. Her palms burned from the touch of his skin as she reached under the garments. Tracing the muscular lines of his shoulders and arms, she pushed his shirt and jacket off and watched as they dropped in a heap on the floor. He kicked out of his shoes and socks while she helped him shrug out of his pants and boxers. The dark stubble of his cheeks burned against her skin while his mouth
and tongue ravished her neck. She sighed as his kisses traveled higher and he nibbled at her earlobe.
“Fuck, Mia. I know you liked it. Damn it, I know you did. What do you want from me? Tell me,” he growled into her ear.
The 30 Day Sub by Alaska Angelini
Cate craves a master more than anything. The moment she meets Torrance McLaren, her trainer, she knows that his firm hand and gentle heart are exactly what she needs to get over her weight and trust issues from her dark past. But Torrance is so much more than what she expected, and she quickly catches herself falling for him. Things turn hot, fast, and the temptation to give in to each other is overwhelming for both.
Even though Torrance knows he’ll only have Cate for a month, he claims her as his own. As long as she’s under his roof, she belongs to him. But her real master and his ridiculous rules about her diet quickly begin to get under his skin. Cate has gorgeous curves and a big heart. She’s the perfect submissive. But ultimately, not his. Will Torrance be able train her and send her to her real master, or will he risk everything for a thirty-day sub?
Be Warned: BDSM, sex toys, spanking, anal play
Excerpt (Explicit):
The slap sent pain coursing through her already sore ass. With Torrance locked into her hair, Cate couldn’t move at all. Not that she wanted to. Maybe deep down she’d wished this would happen.
“You hesitated before you did it. That only means one thing. You debated, and you knew there was a chance you shouldn’t. Yet, you did.” He spanked her again. Cate moaned loudly. Her hips moved on their own, unconsciously begging for him to touch her pussy. A cry came from her mouth as he did.
Pressure moved down her folds, rubbing the wetness around in circles. “Tonight, you’re mine. You may have a master expecting you in thirty days, but until he comes, you belong to me. Say it, Cate. Tell me who owns you.”
“You do, Master.”
The sound of his belt unfastening was like music to her ears, yet she couldn’t deny the fear pumping through her. The fact that he could hurt her was real. She knew she shouldn’t trust this stranger for a second, yet, for some inexplicable reason, a part of her did.
Torrance’s knee pushed her thighs further apart. Leather from the end of the belt caressed her inner thigh. Cate dug her fingers into the sofa. The stimulation to her ass from his hand and now from this smooth material was pleasurably overwhelming. Especially when he started running the end of the belt over her slit.
“I’m about to pop your clit with this belt. And you’re going to fucking love it. And you know what? Tomorrow, when I go to the gallery, I’m going to wear this exact one, knowing that your juices are all over it. This moment, right now, is going to play back in my head. I’ll spend all day envisioning that sweet little pussy of yours.”
Cate jerked the moment the end made contact. She hadn’t thought that the few inches would have made that much of a sting. After all, it wasn’t like he had much room underneath there to work with, but the power that came from behind the thin belt nearly had her screaming with pleasure and pain. Still, she was nowhere near ready to say she was Tor’s whore. Hell, no.
“Fuck, yeah. We’re going to thicken that skin of yours up good.” His hand gripped her ass. The belt hit the floor, and he was suddenly breaching her opening with his finger. “Shit, you’re tight, doll.”  Another joined inside her and Cate moaned as he stretched her wider. “You’re going to feel so good around my cock when the time comes. Not tonight, but soon. Very, very soon.” The thrust picked up speed and Cate was pulled up, against his chest. His arm went around her throat. “You’re about to cum for me.” His fingers left her, and she held onto his arm as he pulled her into the kitchen.
Buttons from the front of her dress hit the floor, spinning around wildly. As Cate watched one roll under the table, she couldn’t believe what was happening. This was a scene out of one of her wildest dreams, yet it was happening for real.
Torrance’s hand cupped her breast. “Perfect,” he whispered against her ear. The moment his arm left her throat and he was gone from her back, the emptiness that washed through her was nearly crippling. The contrast of being consumed, and then suddenly alone was something she didn’t like one bit.
“Take off your clothes and climb on the table. I want your legs spread wide. Be ready by the time I get back.”
