Gratitude

Studies have shown that, at any given point in time, most people are pretty happy and content with approximately 80-85% of the various aspects of their life, leaving about 15-20% that they would like to change.

Overall, most of us are fairly happy with what is happening in our lives.

There is a tendency though to focus, almost exclusively, on the 15-20% that is not where we want it to be. Certainly, this area needs our attention, but not to the omission of all that is good and working.

When we only focus on the percentage that is not where we want it to be, we create an incomplete picture. This skewed view can often be the very thing that keeps us from achieving more. You are at your best when you're positive and encouraged, taking on new challenges, thriving and growing.

Expand your view to include all that is working and you will find that you'll have more gratitude in your heart and a better outlook to go and take on the other areas that you desire to improve.

You have a lot for which to be grateful. Consciously choose gratitude.

Passion

Are you passionate about your goals in life?

Passion is powerful because it causes people to do things that they would otherwise not be willing to do. If you are serious about reaching your vision and your goals, then become passionate about them.

Think back to a time when you wanted something so badly that you were willing to do almost anything you needed to do to make it happen. Maybe it was your first love. Maybe it was your first car. Maybe it was going to college, or maybe it was graduating from it.

What was common in those scenarios for you? If you were passionate about your goal, it seemed that you had energy to do whatever it took. Barriers were seen as challenges, not as excuses for failure or reasons to quit.

You were always thinking about your goal, not about your comfort. The same principle applies today. If you want to reach your goals now - get passionate about them. Work on them and refine them until they are so important and so clear that you would rather take action on them than to be comfortable.

Sacrifice comfort

The number one thing that you have to sacrifice to be great is your comfort.

Everyone wants to be great, to be successful, yet most people choose short-term, comfortable activity over long-term, pleasurable results. If it were easy to be great, then everyone would be great.

Think about it - the average American worker wastes 2.09 hours every day at work according to one recent study. This wasted time is spent on comfort at the expense of greatness.

To be great, you must be willing to pay the price of greatness. Think about your moment-by-moment choices. What comfortable activity are you choosing over your own greatness?

You have incredible capabilities, but so few people actually make of themselves even one iota of what they are capable of becoming.

Decide right now to eliminate one comfort activity from your day, and replace it with an activity that drives results for you. At first this may be difficult, but if you forget, just notice and get back on track.

If you can master your desire for comfort, then you will place yourself among the few people who truly reach their goals and dreams in life.

The Rigor of Greatness

Rigor!

Rigor is the adherence to standards and structured process. There is scientific rigor, academic rigor, and educational rigor.

Honestly, it requires rigor to do anything at a high level - whether you desire to play a musical instrument, compete in an athletic event, or achieve any other goal.

Start today, right now. Not tomorrow, not Monday - but now!

Execute

Great ideas and strategies are never enough.

There is a huge difference between knowing and doing. The marketplace only rewards doing.

Your ability to create what you desire is directly linked to your ability to execute.

Ultimately, success requires that you align your daily actions with your vision and goals.

Personal Leadership & Change

At the heart of personal leadership is a willingness to change.

Your ability to change is essential if you are going to continue to achieve greater and greater things in life. If you are going to create a higher level of results, then you will need to do things differently and do different things.

If you are going to create something you don't currently have, then you will need to do something you are not currently doing.

Get comfortable with being uncomfortable - get comfortable with change!

Pushing Through the Valley

If you are going to take your performance to the next level then you are going to
have to do things differently, and do different things.

As you begin to take new
actions you will bump up against your old habits, systems, and routines.

At this
point, it's easy to become discouraged - we call this the Valley of Despair. This is
the place where most people give up and go in search of another new idea, and the
 cycle begins again.

To be successful, you need to learn to push through the valley. When you find
yourself in the valley of despair here are 3 things you can do to push through:

1. Stay connected to your vision - focus on the benefits of reaching your goals,
and stop thinking about all the reasons why this won't work

2. Work your plan - take action, do the things in your plan. Schedule those
activities for early in the week, and early in the day

3. Don't go it alone - seek out support and encouragement, participate in a
 WAM, ask for help.

Change your way of thinking and change the world

How you think, in combination with your actions, determines your results in every area of life.

Your biggest breakthrough will come as you learn to think differently. Albert Einstein said, "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them."

If you want to breakthrough to the next level in any area, then you will need to shift your thinking to do so. As an example, it's impossible to double your income thinking the way you currently do. The reason is because your actions are an outgrowth of your thinking.

So unless you learn to think differently, nothing will change with respect to your actions.

Start with your thinking. Change your thinking and you change your world!

Today Matters - Your life is happening right now!

Waiting and hoping isn't much of a strategy. Yet so many people we work with take the same actions day after day, hoping for their results to change.

The problem is that only your actions create your results.

If you want better results, then you have to act your way to them. Stop waiting to be great. Change your actions right now - this instant.

If you have a clear vision and goals, what are the top three things you should be doing right now to reach them? Now, what are the top three things that are getting in the way?

Before you do anything else, take one of those actions right now and put off one of those barriers. Or, if it isn't practical where you stand, put the action in your calendar for later today - and then do it!

Notice how you feel - build on that every day and you will make progress every day on your dreams and goals.
