Staying the Course

Ever since returning from my Christmas travels, I've had the itch to get away, flee Sherbrooke. And I did, making two trips to Quebec City, and then yesterday heading to Montreal to see the original English version of The Iron Lady. But even with my daytrip to Montreal, I have, over the past week, managed to get down to work.
The drama stayed on the page.

When I am focused on what matters, it seems that the universe responds in-kind. I am back in my studio working on a series of paintings that ...

Something's Got a Hold on Me - Reprise

Something's got a hold on me. It's like an itch that no amount of scratching can soothe. It's like a splinter caught underneath the skin, and difficult to remove. It's like the ex-lover you keep running into wherever you go. So I find myself once again in Quebec City, trying to find my way in the world.   It has been a good week in terms of my creativity. I'm back to work on a series of paintings I started before the launch of my first novel, Freestyle Love, in November 2011. Until I left f...

Something's Got a Hold on Me

This morning as I write, I am enjoying an Americano at Le 48, a Quebec City restaurant next to the Hôtel Port-Royal, where I spent the night. On a whim, I drove up to Quebec City yesterday to see a film that's part of Les Grands explorateurs. I saw Robert Blondin's "Les Marquises." Blondin narrated the film live, and from the somewhat comfortable seat in the Salle Albert-Rousseau, I discovered the Marquesas Islands and its people.
The real story here is not that I saw a film, but that less...

A New Year

It is a sun shiny day. The sky is a clear blue but it is a little "cold" by Orlando standards, a balmy 5°C. Despite the coolness of the air, it is good to see the sun. And, really, when I know that it's -14°C (-24°C with the wind chill factored in) back in Sherbrooke, I'm not going to complain.
I've been travelling across Canada and the United States since December 10. It has been a long time away from home. Montreal, Quebec City, Halifax, Calgary and Orlando (in that order) have been...

The Long View

After a four-day stint in Montreal (December 10-14), I returned to Sherbrooke feeling agitated and anxious. I was happy to be "home" and, at the same time, desperate to escape it. It was difficult to concentrate, stay still long enough to write or sit down at the piano and simply play instead of composing. I hummed and hawed and, before I knew it, I had made a reservation at my preferred Quebec City Hotel, Le Priori.
Saturday, December 17 was a cold but sunny day in Quebec City. A balmy...

Freestyle Love - Synopsis

Here's the scoop on Freestyle Love, my debut novel released November 30, 2011, by Lazy Day Publishing:

When it comes to one-night stands, Malachi Bishop has "rules". No pillow talk. No sleeping over. No planning a future hook-up. First names only. It's just sex, not a prelude to love. But when Cole Malcolm, a smooth-talking management consultant, woos Malachi into bed, the rulebook is tossed out the window.

The one-time fling leaves Cole reeling: Malachi is his first real shot at happiness...

Oh, What a Feeling!

This past week has been like waiting for Christmas morning — eager to unwrap the presents under the tree, see if Santa Claus ate the cookies and drank that milk that were left out for him. It has been a week of nervousness, excitement and "stress" as I awaited the release of my first novel, Freestyle Love.

It was 4:32 am when I woke up, and turned on my laptop to see if I could find my novel on amazon.com. I did, and it finally just sort of hit me. My novel was there for the taking. It has...
