Doristraction

What was it The Riddler said about the Puzzle that couldn’t be solved? In Cat-Tales, we call her Doris.

Character Portrait: Kittlemeier

Kittlemeier

It’s been more than 20 years since Joker saw Batman rappelling out of danger with the grapnel gun out of legend and asked aloud “Where does he get those wonderful toys?”  Cat-Tales readers know the answer.  Do you?

Character Portrait: Dr. Leland Bartholomew

Dr. Leland Bartholomew at Arkham Asylum

Dr. Leland Bartholomew, Arkham staffer. He may not be the most dashing figure in these portraits, but he’s Joker’s psychiatrist, and when he sees that Dirty Jobs show on cable, he laughs and laughs, points at the TV and slaps his thigh at what they’re calling crappy jobs. “That Mike Rowe guy is such a pussy!”

Character Portrait: Raven

Raven at the Iceberg Lounge

Raven at the Iceberg Lounge

Before we leave the Iceberg Lounge, meet Oswald’s hostess Raven.

Just so we’re all clear on how exactly batshit crazy Jonathan Crane is, his interest in this woman was her scream.

Character Portraits: Sly

Sly at the Iceberg Lounge

“He goes toe to toe with Two-Face to enforce Oswald’s happy hour policy. He goes toe to toe with Joker to enforce an ad hoc ‘no beating Catman with a crowbar in front of TV cameras’ policy. What’s not to love?”

Sly, bartender of the Iceberg Lounge and the only one to stay longer than 3 nights or 3 fights, is the most popular original character in Cat-Tales – after Selina’s cats of course.

Oswald Cobblepot in the Iceberg Lounge

Oswald Cobblepot (The Penguin) would like to demonstrate to the uncouth proletariat, harlequins, plant women, clowns and Batman villains in general how this posing for portraiture is done in a civilized society.  KWAK!

Character Portrait: Joker

Joker at the Ha-Hacienda

Anyone else, you look at this and say “bad photo,” assume the hyena choosing that particular moment to visit his water dish was an unlucky happenstance, and considering the subject, the photographer is probably dead now.

But this is Joker, and I think he picked this shot on purpose.

Words of Wisdom from Catwoman’s Cat

Whether you’re facing an actual comic book crisis or it just feels like one, consider the words of wisdom Cat-Tales fans have come to know as Whiskers Manifesto.

Whiskers Manifesto - Words of Wisdom from Catwoman's Cat

A Feline Design for Living, A Cat’s Guide to Life, or as it’s known in Cat-Tales, Whiskers Manifesto

In String Theory, while Jason Blood visits the manor during a cosmic crisis, it is revealed that he speaks Mau-im-dwo, the mystic language by which the priests of Ancient Egypt spoke with divine and mortal cats. Selina’s cat Whiskers is kind enough to explain the Feline Design for Living, described here.

Character Portrait: Poison Ivy

To the world, this is a character portrait of Poison Ivy.  To the Cat-Tales cognoscenti, it’s a cue to begin The Ballad of Humoring Pamela.

Character Portrait: Poison Ivy

All together now:

Her skin is albaster, not green.

She is a natural redhead (because henna is a plant.)

Paper is murder.

Harvey Dent is a two-timing skunk.
