Your Dream Lake Como Villa Is an Attraction and an Accommodation

For some travelers to Lake Como, getting a peek at George Clooneyâs personal villa is probably the coolest thing you could see in Northern Italyâs Lombardy region, breathtaking scenery aside. Clooneyâs not the only one with a majestic villa on Lake Como, though. At least one allows visitors to tour the property to get a feeling for what it might be like to live the lavish yet simple Lake Como life. Itâs called Villa Monastero, and itâs located in the town of Varenna.

Villa Monastero was originally built as a convent in the 12th century but was later renovated and transformed into a private residence. The grounds feature a Botanical Garden and a House Museum, both of which have incredible views of Lake Como from their waterside perch. The villa has 12 rooms in total â four single and eight double â that are decorated with frescoed walls and antique furniture. Gusts of Villa Monastero also have access to luxurious amenities such as a private pool, terrace cafe, and nearby trails.
In the summer, Villa Monastero hosts cultural activities such as music concerts, as well as year-round art exhibitions and film screenings. The estate is open to visitors from between April and December. Note that certain areas may be closed on certain days due to events or maintenance. General admission to the House Museum and Botanical Garden costs about $13 while tickets to just the Botanical Garden cost about $10 per person. Discounts are available for people over the age of 65, between the ages of 15 and 25, large groups, and more.
Whether or not youâre not planning to stay at Villa Monastero, an overnight in Lake Como should still be on your bucket list, and there are plenty of Lake Como Airbnbs available to make that happen, no matter your price point. Italyâs also chock-full of gorgeous Italian lakes that arenât Lake Como, if thatâs more your speed.

Las Vegas is a city known for its lavish hotels and resorts, but many young and savvy travelers are turning to Airbnbs for more affordable and unique experiences — and Las Vegas certainly has some of the most unique Airbnbs you’ll find in the US.
But there’s one big drawback to Vegas: it can get hot. Really hot. It’s in the Mojave Desert, with an extremely warm and dry climate and very little precipitation. The city experiences very hot summers, and temperatures can easily reach 105 degrees F or higher. That’s why you’ll want to make sure you book an Airbnb in Las Vegas with a pool — and maybe a hot tub, since it can get chilly on winter evenings (well, into the 50s F).
Every listing below is an Airbnb in Las Vegas with a pool, and most are private. Las Vegas tends to be a rather inexpensive city, and you can find rentals below $50 a night, especially if you don’t mind a shared pool.

Bedrooms: studioGuests: 4Rates from: $49/nightThis rental is a one-bedroom suite on the Las Vegas Strip at the MGM Grand. Guests have full access to MGM Grand Signature amenities, including a massive outdoor pool area with a jacuzzi and concierge services seven days a week. It’s a studio unit, but a very big one, and the bathroom is nearly as large as the living area (complete with a soaking tub!) The unit has a kitchenette, though you’ll be so close to the finest restaurants and most popular bars in Las Vegas that you may never use it. It’s without a doubt one of the most affordable Las Vegas Airbnbs you’ll find.
Tahitian Village Suite
Photo: Airbnb

Photo: Airbnb

Photo: Airbnb
Bedrooms: 1Guests: 4Rates from: $60/nightWhy book an Airbnb in Las Vegas with a pool when you could book one with a pool and a lazy river? Sure, there’s no beating around the bush: this rental is basically just a hotel suite. But you won’t find a hotel room with a private sitting area and a kitchenette anywhere near this price. It’s in Tahiti Village, which is just a few blocks south of the Strip near the airport. Renters get access to everything the complex offers, including several dining areas and a lazy river an eighth of a mile long.
If you’re going to spend most of your time on the Las Vegas strip and don’t want to break the bank, this is an excellent choice.
Arcade House

Bedrooms: 4Guests: 10Rates from: $370/night
If you want what most people would consider a party house — but don’t want to pay in the four-digits per night — this roomy home 10 minutes from downtown could be the perfect pick. It has four bedrooms, a billiards room with a flat-screen TV, and a converted garage with Pac-Man, air hockey, a Hot Shot basketball game, and more.
Of course, the reason you’d book this is because it’s an Airbnb in Las Vegas with a pool — but there’s more outside than just a pool. The outdoor space is almost as large as the indoor space, with a cabana, a Jacuzzi, lots of sun loungers, a firepit with lots of seating, and an outdoor grill and dining area. Divide the price by 10 guests, and you’ve got a really fun, really budget-friendly place to stay in Las Vegas.
Super Nintendo House

Bedrooms: 4Guests: 15Rates from: $298/nightIt’s nearly impossible not to see photos of this rental and not start hearing the Super Mario theme song in your head. This is the perfect booking if some folks in your group only care about having an Airbnb with a pool in Las Vegas, but others want a house packed with fun things to do. Here, you get both. That includes a Nintendo 64 console with all the Mario games you can imagine, a retro Street Fighter arcade console, and closets packed with board games.
The house has plenty of space for a whopping 15 people, plus a picture-perfect outdoor area with a pool and hot tub. Since it’s only a five-minute drive to the Strip, it’d be an ideal Las Vegas bachelor or bachelorette party rental (especially considering the incredibly affordable per-person price if you pack the house).
Luxury Vacation Villa

Photo: Airbnb

Photo: Airbnb

Photo: Airbnb
Bedrooms: 5Guests: 16+Rates from: $360This is the largest Airbnb in Las Vegas with a pool you’ll find on this list. In fact, it’s so big that there’s not really even a limit, but the owners say it can fit at least 16. Those guests are spread between five bedrooms, three of which have bunk beds, so you really can pack people in. And really, given how much there is to do in this house, you may not spend much time sleeping, anyway.
Outside, there’s a private pool with half a dozen sun loungers, plus a three-hole putting green. There’s also a fire pit with lots of seating, an outdoor foosball table, and a grill and covered dining area. Inside, there’s a billiards table, several arcade games (Vegas owners seem to love their arcade games!) and an air hockey table. The bedrooms are kind of small, but it’s affordable enough that even a group of six or eight will find it to be a good deal.
Resort-style Oasis

Photo: Airbnb

Photo: Airbnb
Bedrooms: 4Guests: 8Rates from: $525/nightIf you always thought it’d be fun to party at the Playboy Mansion but don’t actually want to share the pool, this house is an excellent fit. It has one of the prettiest pools of any Airbnb with a pool in Las Vegas, with a giant grotto-style pool divided by an over-pool walkway, plus an attached hot tub with waterfalls cascading over house-sized piles of rocks. It truly looks like a miniature version of something you’d find at one of the fancy Las Vegas hotels on the Strip.
The roomy home also has a full-sized pool table, four roomy bedrooms, and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating for everyone. It’s also dog friendly, making this an excellent pick for travelers driving to Vegas and bringing their furry friends along. Like a few other Las Vegas Airbnbs with pools on this list, there’s a daily fee for heating the hot tub (which the owners will detail and can bill in advance).
Desert Rose
Photo: Airbnb

Photo: Airbnb

Photo: Airbnb

Photo: Airbnb
Bedrooms: 4Guests: 10Rates from: $580/nightThis unique Airbnb with a pool in Las Vegas channels everything the western city is known for: southwestern vibes, subtle influences from south of the border, warm colors and cacti, and even a slot machine or two. The large outdoor area has a resort-style pool surrounded by palms and cacti, plus a full outdoor kitchen complete with a small bar. But the coolest feature may be the roomy teepee with plenty of seating, plus a central fire pit (there’s a backyard fire pit, too).
Inside, renters get an expansive living space with a downright massive kitchen and separate bar area (with two slot machines, no less!) The house sleeps 10 guests in eight beds, so you don’t have to have everyone double up — heck, you could even have someone sleep in the teepee. Note that there’s a small extra fee for heating the hot tub.
The Buddha Estate
Photo: Airbnb

Photo: Airbnb

Photo: Airbnb

Photo: Airbnb
Bedrooms: 4Guests: 12Rates from: $664/nightThe Buddha Estate sits about a 15-minute drive from the Las Vegas strip and is basically your own private resort in the form of a rental home. Sure, it’s a Las Vegas Airbnb with a pool, but it’s also an Airbnb with an outdoor putting green, a peaceful hammock area, a putting green, a giant chess board, and a basketball court — and that’s just the outdoor features. Inside, renters get a home gym with a Peloton bike, a sauna, and a game room with foosball and billiards tables.
The home has seven beds across four bedrooms, plus tons of space for people to sleep on couches. And the outdoor space is ideal for relaxing, too, with loungers, Balinese-style woven chairs, and a roomy hot tub. It’s one of the biggest pools of any of the Airbnbs in Las Vegas and even has a small waterslide — bonus points if you can make a three-pointer while sliding into the pool.
Penthouse at the Palms
Photo: Airbnb

Photo: Airbnb

Photo: Airbnb

Photo: Airbnb
Bedrooms: 3Guests: 8Rates from: $1,144/nightThe Penthouse at the Palms is the quintessential Las Vegas condo. It’s at the Palms (naturally), and has a high-rise private Jacuzzi with absolutely amazing view of Sin City. Oh, and it has two more hot tubs inside. It’s the perfect place to stay if you’re trying to recreate The Hangover (though we’d advise not doing that).
In addition to getting full use of the swanky three-bedroom condo, renters also get to use the facilities at the Palm Resort. That includes the resort pool, complete with in-pool couches, plus the Laguna pool. Both have rentable cabanas and bar service.
This Airbnb doesn’t come cheap, but if you want a true Las Vegas-style experience, it’s the place to book.
How far is Las Vegas from the Grand Canyon?
Photo: SierraLara/Shutterstock
The distance from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon is approximately 275 miles, which is about a 4.5-hour drive. You can go either to the South or North Rim. The South Rim is more popular and more developed in terms of amenities and activities. There are several lodges and campgrounds in the area, as well as a visitor center, restaurants, and gift shops. You can drive to many scenic viewpoints along the rim, but taking the park shuttle will alleviate the hassle of dealing with traffic or finding parking.
The North Rim is more remote and harder to reach, but many people consider it to be more peaceful and less crowded than the South Rim. There is only one lodge and one campground in the area, so you’ll want to book your accommodations well in advance if you’re pairing Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon in one trip. Note that the North Rim is closed between November and May, so don’t plan to head there unless you’re willing to snowshoe your way in (which you actually can do).
How far is Las Vegas from the Hoover Dam?
Photo: Nido Huebl/Shutterstock
Las Vegas is approximately 30 miles northwest of the Hoover Dam. Without traffic, it takes about 45 minutes. You can drive yourself, or book a tour from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon. Good options include the half-day Hoover Dam Express Tour, with a guided dam tour and time to explore on your own; a three-hour Pink Jeep Tour that includes narration on the history of the area’s geology and people; or even tours where you can paddle on Lake Mead in front of the Hoover Dam.
If you prefer not to take a tour, you can definitely drive to the Hoover Dam on your own. It’s an easy drive from Las Vegas and there’s usually plenty of parking. You can pay for a self-guided tour in advance online or sign up for a guided tour when you arrive ($30 per person).
Where to stay in Las VegasThough the famous Las Vegas strip is the most well-known part of the city, it’s hardly the only place to stay in Las Vegas. The strip is where you’ll find most of the famous hotels like The Venetian or The Bellagio, so most of the Airbnbs in that area are likely to be condos within hotels.
Another area to stay is downtown Las Vegas, which is more local and is more like a “normal” city. It’s home to the Fremont Street Experience (a canopy of LED lights and three stages with live entertainment most evenings). If you want to visit Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam while in Vegas, you may want to stay in Henderson, about 20 minutes southeast of the Vegas strip.
Las Vegas is very drivable and in the middle of a dessert, so it doesn’t take too long to get out of the city. But if you want to visit famous outdoor areas like Valley of Fire State Park and the Desert National Wildlife Refuge, stay on the northern part of Las Vegas. If you’re headed to Red Rock Canyon or planning a day trip to Death Valley National Park, stay on the west side of Las Vegas to make your drive a smidge shorter.
Wine and Dine With Friendly Giraffes â in the Heart of Texas

Turns out, if you’re craving a safari experience, you donât have to fly halfway across the world. You can mingle with zebras, kangaroos, giraffes, and more just 30 minutes outside of Waco, Texas â and weâre not talking about a trip to the zoo.
Blue Hills Ranch is a 150-acres giraffe and animal sanctuary in McGregor, Texas. (Thatâs slightly south of Waco and an hour-and-a-half northeast of Austin.) The ranch offers a variety of animal experiences, as well as cabins and an RV resort if youâd like to stay the night.
One of the coolest experiences that Blue Hills Ranch offers is called Dining with Giraffes, and itâs exactly what it sounds like. For $400 per person â $350 if you book one of the cabins â you can enjoy an hour-long meal of wine, salad, and charcuterie while rubbing elbows with giraffes that you can pet (and who might even nibble at your carrot sticks). The experience is designed for a minimum of two people and a maximum of six.
We hope you love Blue Hills Ranch! Just so you know, Matador may collect a small commission from the links on this page if you decide to book a stay. Listed prices are accurate as of the time of publication.

Other animal experiences at Blue Hills Ranch include a safari-style drive across the grounds and an otter adventure that allows you to play with the animals while they soak in a hot tub. In addition to safari animals â think zebras, red kangaroos, emus, camels, African spurred tortoise, and scimitar oryx â youâll also see the sort of animals you might expect to inhabit a Texan ranch, such as wild mustangs, bison, mini donkeys, cows, pigs, deer, and horses.
Rates for the five cabins range from $100 to $500 per night for a standard two-person occupancy, although thereâs enough room for four to six guests depending on the cabin. The cabins themselves are more comfortable than that accommodation type might suggest, complete with king-size memory foam mattresses, a fully equipped kitchenette, walk-in showers with standard bathroom amenities, and private balconies. Rates for RV sites range between $30 and $50 per night for two people, plus $10 additional per person per night.
How Travel Influencer Kyle Offutt Made a Career While Seeing the Country By Car

The profession of being a travel influencer and video creator may have its detractors. That said, if those detractors had the chance to get paid to pursue their favorite hobby, would they take it? Likely. Though ubiquitous on our social media feeds, the actual lifestyle of travel influencers remains somewhat of a mystery to many. Behind the final filtered product are logistical struggles and finely-honed packing systems that make it all possible.
Kyle Offutt is a travel filmmaker and influencer whoâs been all over the United States, most often traveling the country by car. Not a van to follow that #vanlife, but a car. From Wichita, Kansas, Offutt first attracted attention on Tiktok for his unconventional travel style and has since gained hundreds of thousands of followers. In addition to posting epic travel content, he also makes videos about the road trip lifestyle, what it looks like, and how to do it yourself.
Matador caught up with Offutt to learn more about his profession, work style, and what it really is like to be a travel influencer today.
This interview has been edited for length and clarity.
Matador: What’s your favorite trip you’ve taken so far and what made it special?Kyle Offutt: Mostly my list of favorites just goes sideways and it’s hard to rank anything. But some standouts are an event called Creator Camp I went to last summer in Colorado where around 35 content creators got together in a giant cabin to just spend some time together without service and just connect with each other and do a ton of activities outdoors. I made a lot of amazing friends that inspire me. I was in a beautiful place with people who share my passions for art and storytelling. Another of my favorite trips was in the woods of North Carolina. I shared a tiny cabin home with some friends and made a documentary about making an album over around a month. We spent time doing arts and crafts, exploring the trails, building forts, making music, and watching movies. I felt like a little kid and was in this place away from everything for a good amount of time. I did all of my favorite things everyday with amazing people. And it was just 30 minutes outside of a very small town.
What’s the one thing you never leave home without?@kylegoesoff Replying to @fullofskittles asking people I meet traveling to write down a piece of advice #strangers #traveling #notebook #advice ⬠Freaks – Surf Curse
The thing I never leave home without is a notebook I carry with me. Anytime I meet strangers at coffee shops, hostels, on hikes, or any random place I have them leave a piece of advice that they wish they knew earlier and sign it. Its really cool to see everyone’s unique handwriting, and a little life experience from people all over the world and all ages and backgrounds. It’s one of my prized possessions.
How do you pick the place that you want to go to next?I always visit people instead of places because the company you keep at any place really makes the trip. If I get invited for a cool opportunity or my friends find a cheap flight and want some company I will tag along. Cost is normally a big factor for me, I cant say no to a good deal.
Is there a destination that you’ve found is severely underrated?@kylegoesoff Will I be able to survive South America out of a backpack?#southamerica #backpacking #patagonia ⬠Choking on Flowers – Fox Academy
Peru and many places in South America were very underrated to me. Most of the other travelers I met were European. As an American, I havenât met many people who have gone to South America unless they have family there. It was inexpensive and so vibrant with culture. The food was amazing because of the diversity of ingredients. They had the highlands, coast, and jungle that produce so many different things. Peru is huge, so there are so many different landscapes. From the mountains with bright blue waters to an oasis in the desert and surfing on the coast, there was everything. It was easy to take the buses all over and flights were not expensive. Unfortunately political unrest right after our trip has made it more difficult to travel to recently but i’m really hoping they find peace because it is such an amazing place.
Where have you always wanted to go but haven’t made it to yet?I’ve always wanted to go to the Netherlands, Thailand, and New Zealand. I always meet Dutch people on my travels and feel like I would fit in well with the culture. It is more expensive and I want to make an entire Europe trip if I were to go or spend at least a few months to understand how it is to live there. Thailand is a place I’ve been told I would love because of the tropical weather, beaches, and food scene. Although it is cheaper once you are there, it is expensive to get to for us in the States. Same with New Zealand. It has beautiful scenery but is an expensive country and is costly to get over there.
Where’s your next trip and what are you most excited to experience?Right now my next trips are close desert camping and then going to the next Creator Camp in Utah. But the next big trip I have begun planning is to Alaska. In posting about eating and adventuring with strangers the most messages i’ve gotten have been from Alaska with a lot of awesome activities so I’m really excited to see the landscape and see it with locals.
Which state has the most underrated food scene?@kylegoesoff Thai infused BBQ #kansascity #bbq #thaifood ⬠original sound – Kyle
This may be biased, but I feel like Kansas City has really developed in recent years. The barbecue is obviously great and stands out but there are so many creative things popping up and unique fusion concepts. On a recent trip I went to a barbecue and Thai infused restaurant, and it had some of the most surprising flavors and homey experience that blew me away. I grew up not far with many immigrant friends from Mexico and parts of Asia. Those food cultures and flavors have really started to appear in these cities.
Any car hacks for future road trippers?@kylegoesoff Replying to @johhnywest another day living out of a car in NYC #carlife #carcamping #nyc #dayinmylife #nomad ⬠original sound – Kyle
Take out your seats or see if they can fold down then use a foam bed and blankets for bedding. For cars, I just found out that my front seat folds forward which gives me a lot more room. To help with cold you can use the sun reflectors for all of your windows to insulate your heat from the inside and use a reflector underneath you as well. Cracker Barrels and hospital parking lots are some of the better spots to sleep that most don’t know about. Use apps and websites like Free Campsites and iOverlander to find free spots to park. If you can sleep out of a car it makes travel waaaaay cheaper.
How did you first monetize your travel lifestyle? At first I didn’t. Even now I don’t make a ton of money. If you think you’ll get rich doing this you’re very wrong â at least in the monetary sense. You will be very rich in experience and connection. I now have friends all over the world and many that I’m able to stay with. Now I get some money from social media platforms from bonuses and ad sharing, will license some of my content, and get an occasional brand deal. I’ve also made some free and paid guides to the places I’ve been. So far, this basically just covers my cost with a total audience of around 300,000. To get extra income I also do some filming and editing on the side for small businesses or other content creators. I know some van lifers will use things like DoorDash, Postmates, and Amazon to make money in new cities to cover their expenses.
Ride the Train Between London and Brussels in the Worldâs Longest Undersea Tunnel

Great Britain might be an island, but that does not mean that the only ways out of there are by plane or boat. Since 1994, the Channel Tunnel (also known as the Eurotunnel or the Chunnel) that runs for 31.5 miles under the sea allows high-speed trains to connect cities in England and continental Europe directly. This feat of technology meansfday that you can get from London to Amsterdam in just four hours, or even from London to the beautiful capital of the European Union, Brussels, in record time — and record comfort.

Unlocking the Potential of Airbnb: A Homeowner’s Guide To Income While You Travel

If you’re looking for an easy, convenient way to make money on the side while you travel, Airbnb may be just what you need. Not only can it help you generate additional income for your household budget, it also offers the perfect opportunity to get to know locals and adventurous travelers alike. But where do you even start? Matador spoke with Travis Morris, who with his wife Kelsea runs this Airbnb rental in Los Angeles, to provide a comprehensive guide to making the most of this service, as part of a series shedding light on how more and more homeowners are finding success with Airbnb.
Interested in becoming an Airbnb host? Check out Matador’s guides to what to edxpect: How a Couple Turned Two 19th Century Irish Pubs Into Ireland’s Most Unique Airbnbs An Airbnb Superhost Explains How To Rent Your Home To Pay for Your Next Big Trip
We hope you learn a lot about what it’s like to host on Airbnb! Just so you know, Matador may collect a small commission from the links on this page if you decide to become a host.
MATADOR: Did this start as a side hustle, and is it still a side hustle in addition to other jobs/sources of income?TRAVIS: Originally both my wife and I were working. She is a Sheriff’s Deputy and I am an Executive Director for senior living. Kelsea decided to quit as a Deputy and we started thinking of ways to supplement our income. She was able to quit and this Airbnb completely replaced her salary and then some all while she was able to go back to school.
Do you make enough to live on, or do you feel you could if you got another property/retrofitted this one?Because we have more than one property, kids, and expenses, we still need to work.
How hard was it to work with local regulations to get registered? The process is fairly easy. The portal is user-friendly. It does take a while if there are issues due to a slow response
And how hard is it to stay within regulations now?As long as you keep up with monthly costs and renew on time, you are fine. If you miss renewal (like we did) it took four months to reconcile as they restricted our short-term stays.
Is the process of keeping the unit clean and turning it over quickly a pain, or is it easy to get into a system with hiring a local service/doing it yourself?A quality cleaner is everything when managing the unit remotely. We share our calendar with our cleaner and she manages the turns very well. When we were managing it ourselves, it can be quite time-consuming. The only benefit is that you can keep the cleaning fees as income. If doing it yourself, it would be wise to move your minimum stays to two days.
What was it that put you over the edge on doing an Airbnb?Quality of life for Kelsea. We wanted more balance and to be more present for our kids and our own self-care.
How did you overcome any hesitations you had?We talked to others who host and based on the success felt like the reward was worth the risk.
Does owning an Airbnb give you more ability to travel more frequently/for longer periods of time?Yes, we have more time to explore, vacation, and plan. We have income that does not require many working hours per week.
3 Essential Stops on a Food and Drink Tour of Oaxaca, Mexico

Mexico is renowned for its delicious and diverse cuisine. Many travelers visit the country just to experience the amazing array of flavors from north to south, east to west. In southwestern Mexico, in the Sierra Madre del Sur mountain range, the state of Oaxaca has developed a reputation for being one of Mexico’s culinary capitals.
The food in Oaxaca varies from traditional Aztec and Mayan dishes to Spanish-influenced recipes, all of which come together using staple ingredients like corn, squash, beans, tomatoes, avocados, and chiles, in addition to various meats. Oaxaca is particularly known for its regional specialties, such as a variety of mole sauces, tamales, barbacoa (barbecue), and tlayudas (grilled flatbread). There are also a number of beverages to try, such as tejate (a cold maize drink flavored with cocoa) and pulque (an alcoholic beverage made from fermented agave sap).
Where better to start a food tour of Oaxaca state than in Oaxaca city? You’d be hard-pressed to find many bad Oaxaca restaurants, but these three Oaxaca restaurants are worth seeking out.

Tulum, Mexico, Has a Secret Lazy River That’s 100% Natural

Less than 30 minutes outside of Tulum, Mexico, there’s an archeological site called Muyil that’s located on the border of a lagoon in the UNESCO-recognized Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve. Muyil, or Chunyaxché, was one of the earliest Mayan settlements on the Yucatan Peninsula, and it existed for quite a long while. Many travelers visit Muyil as a day trip from Tulum to see the ruins of a once-bustling Mayan port town and perhaps admire the lagoon. What many of these visitors don’t know is that the Muyil Lagoon is also home to a natural lazy river.
To experience the Muyil lazy river, all you have to do is take a bus, taxi, or car to the Muyil Lagoon where you can board a small boat for a two-hour tour that costs approximately $50 per person. The boat ride across the lagoon is almost worth the cost alone as you glide across crystal-clear turquoise waters and through shaded mangrove forests. At one point, the mangrove-enclosed lagoon has a gentle current that’s just strong enough to propel you forward at a leisurely pace, just like a lazy river at a waterpark. The natural lazy river float lasts about 30 minutes, after which you’ll hop back on your boat and be dropped back off at the pick-up spot.
The Muyil lazy river is one of the most fun and unexpected ways to take advantage of the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, but you can also enjoy other water activities like swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and even snorkeling in the area. One of the largest protected areas in Mexico, the biosphere reserve spans some 1.3 million acres of land and marine environments, playing host to over 100 mammal species, 300 bird species, 20 amphibians and reptiles, and even more fish. You’d be hard-pressed to see it all on a single trip to Mexico, but if you have some time to spare, a tour of the Muyil ruins followed by a float down the Muyil lazy river is well worth a day trip.
