Happy Halloween 2019

On 31st October this year we celebrate Halloween. And also Brexit, should it actually happen. Both are spooky events in their own ways. lol

Here are some of my most devilish books...

Once you start writing keep going with no breaks!

Sit and write and don't even stand up or go for a pee until you're done writing an entire novel in one sitting!

Just kidding. But seriously now, I want to make a point about taking breaks.

I just re-wrote the last half of chapter 1 in my current WIP. And now I'm staring at the blank screen of what will be chapter 2. I had previously written all the way through 2 chapters, but that was a month ago and I stopped writing. When I came back to my manuscript I hated the direction...

Pain & Sorrow

I thought about how to possibly start writing this blog post and it made me think of the other time in my past when I overcame painful suffering in my life.

This blog post is about how I naturally overcame anxiety, physical pain, and depression without drugs. As in, anti-depressants etc. On the contrary, the removal of drugs from my life sorted me out.

As for the other time in my past when I suffered greatly, that was purely mental. However, our brains are inside our bodies as a who...

Rivers of London & Inspiration Ramblings

A couple weeks ago I asked Twitter for book recommends with stories where a main character discovers magic, like Harry Potter. I prefer reading and writing fiction that way. I don't like stories where magic is already known. Like with A Discovery of Witches. I thought I'd try that book out, but it wasn't a brand new discovery, she was already a witch, so I did not carry on reading that one. And remember, when I say I read books, what I really mean is that I listen to them as audiobooks. I'm a...

He Sucked My Toes at a House Party and Then Aliens Attacked

Just to document the long title of my next book, even though I'll probably list it like this:

He Sucked My Toes at a House Party
AND THEN ALIENS ATTACKED

Apart from on Smashwords, they don't allow ALL CAPS. So there it will be:

He Sucked My Toes at a House Party; and Then Aliens Attacked

Or does that look weird? One sec...

Well apparently I capitalised the word "and" in my last lengthy titled book:

That Night Her Car Engine Lit on Fire; And Then She Shot Heroin into Her Leg

But maybe I will title my...

Figuring Out Pen Names

I'm trying to find words in other languages that start with K and mean "author" or "writer"

In Finnish "author" translates to: kirjailija

S.L. Kirjailija

But that's quite a mouthful.

Oo! In Maori "author" translates to: kaituhi

S.L. Kaituhi

That's shorter, and there might be a story behind use of this name as a word.

In Sinhala language the pronunciation is: kartṛ for "author"

Hmmm... I'll brb... the kids are demanding I make dinner NOW.

Ok we had spag bol for din din. And I think I'm going with the M...

I #AMWRITING

The scene I'm currently writing is so wacky. I suppose I love writing like this. By the seat of my pants. No outline. Just writing 100% creatively with what pops into my head. Basically I'm on Mars with my main character. She's just run into a rover vehicle and she's got to trash it before the data can be sent back to Earth. Well what would you do if you worked at NASA and you saw a teenage girl walking around on the surface of Mars wearing only jeans, a t-shirt, and trainers? Yeah, you'd fli...

A Ready Meal That Actually Looks Like the Product

Check out my meal this evening!

I think the actual food in my bowl looks better than the picture! For once. Usually ready meal photos on packaging look amazing in comparison to the actual food that happens once out of the microwave.

Back in 2016 when I first did Slimming World I bought a SW ready meal from Iceland. The picture on the box looked amazing. After I nuked it though, it looked worse than a can of the cheapest dog food mixed with brown diareah.

I mean, SW ready meals already taste like...

The Clothes I Wear Determine My Mood

When I used to sit around eating and writing all day I'd sometimes wear a muumuu. I felt huge and slow. It made me billow around the house whenever I could be bothered to actually stand up and walk to the fridge.

Thankfully, those kinds of days were few and far between.
But existing like that taught me a lesson. That what I wear really does determine my mood and motivation for the whole day.

Nowadays when I get up in the morning I wear clothes that support me comfortably. I'll wear a sporty outf...
