Thanks Lisa for hosting me today on your blog.
Q: Tell me a little bit about yourself. What do you do for fun?
I’m afraid I don’t have much time for fun these days. Between working full-time, writing, reviewing books and managing my craft business, I’m pretty much scheduled all the time. I love both writing and creating my light boxes. These are my creative outlets. This fall I have four craft shows scheduled. I love interacting and meeting new people. When I do have some free time, you can find happily browsing in the bookstore.
Q: What do you like most about the genre you write in?
Most of the books my brother Dave and I write are in the fantasy genre. Three of them are epic fantasy and our newest release is urban fantasy. Writing a fantasy allows you to create your own world. In the Otharia novels, our cast of characters all have some level of psi powers whether its telekinesis, telepathy or empathy. The hardest part in creating a world though is to make sure it follows some natural laws so the reader can relate and believe in it.
Q: Where is your favorite place to write?
Funny you should ask that question. Last year I was out for 6 months with a back injury and couldn’t sit in my office for any length of time. Lucky for me I have laptop and I was able to write while resting in bed. I had all my fluffy pillows around me, and my kitties, of course. Even now that I feel better, I still prefer to sit in bed with my laptop. It seems so natural to me and I can write for hours (as long as I don’t turn on the TV, that is.)
Q: What’s your next project?
Dave and I are working on the sequel to “Assassin’s Curse.” The book is called “Witch’s Curse” and will continue the story of Jeda and his twin daughters of prophecy. We hope to have this one finished early in 2013. We still have the third volume to write in the Rule of Otharia series as well. “The King’s Last Word” will wrap up that series and should be published in 2014.
Q: How do you feel about Dr. Pepper? 
Sorry, I don’t drink soda. I’ve never had a Dr. Pepper. Am I missing something?

About Adrienne I think I became a writer because the world inside my head was so real and vivid, sometimes more so than the outside world. In some sense I have lived parallel lives, present in my real and imaginary lives in different ways. Because much of my childhood was spent searching for faeries or reading about them, it is natural that my work would encompass faerie tale themes and other magical elements. In the words of Tennessee Williams, forget reality, give me magic!

Adrienne has previously published short stories in The Storyteller, Beginnings Magazine, New Plains Review, and in the e-zines A Fly in Amber, Grim Graffiti, Les Bonnes Fees, The Altruist, The Devilfish Review, and Rose Red Review. Her short story, Falling was awarded second place in the 2008 Alice Munro short fiction contest. To Dance in Liradon is her first published novel.

An avid reader of fairy tales and other magical stories, a thread of the mysterious or unexpected runs through all of her work. When she’s not writing Adrienne can be found searching for faeries along with her daughters Callista and Juliet.

About the Author:

I started my obsession with reading at an early age, getting in trouble for sneaking BabySitter Club and Nancy Drew books into math class in elementary school. I would read any fiction book I could get my hands on. I knew it was an addiction when instead of grounding me from TV or music, my mom would take away my books as punishment (The Horror!). My love of all things paranormal was inspired by my good friend Laurie, who convinced me that books with vampires, witches, and all things shifter were amazing. After a little reluctance, I gave it a shot with the Sookie Stackhouse books, realized she was right, and the rest was history.

I grew up in Pittsburgh, graduated from The University of Pittsburgh with my degree in English, and taught 8th graders to love reading as much as I do for several years. I will always be a proud member of the Steelers Nation, but I couldn't take the cold and moved my frozen tush to Florida where I now live with my family and two cats. You will find me now with my trusty Kindle in hand and toes in the sand!

When I'm not writing or reading, I am probably partaking in my favorite vice: sunbathing. I know it's wrong, but I love the feeling on the hot sun on my skin and could lay in it for hours. I do live in Florida for a reason!
