Triple Circle Money Spell
This spell originally appeared in Llewellyn’s 2019 Witches’ Spell-a-Day Almanac.
Materials:
Green candle
Patchouli oil
Several coins
Sea salt
Chamomile flowers
A pen and paper
Ground and center. On the paper, draw a symbol for money, such as a dollar sign, and the specific amount you are looking for. Anoint the four corners of the paper with the oil, along with the center. Place on the center of the altar. Oil the candle, put in a holder, and place on the center of the paper. Surroun...
The Waters of Purity (Simplified)
This spell originally appeared in Llewellyn’s 2019 Witches’ Spell-a-Day Almanac.
Materials:
Your chalice filled with water
Ground and center. Contemplate that which troubles you and imagine that it takes the form of a black smoke, which you now direct into the water with each exhale. Continue this until you feel the water has become dark and “poisoned”. Enchant the water, saying:
“Poison I have held within
Fear or anger, shame or sin
Transform by breath of witches’ flame
My power sh...

A Spell for Sleep
Here is a simple spell I wrote to help bring a good night’s sleep when it has been elusive.
Stuff a small light blue pouch with equal parts lavender, chamomile, and valerian root.
Breathe into the pouch to “awaken” the herbs and then speak into it:
“Hypnos come, my mind make light
That I may slumber through the night.”
On the last word, quickly tie the pouch closed to “trap” your breath and intention inside. Gently press the pouch against your heart, feeling a sense of openness and heart-center...

Conjuring the Silver Thread
Working with spirits is a hallmark of the Witches’ Craft. Whether we see those spirits as being the spiritual consciousness within a plant, a stone, an animal, a place, or even that of a faery, an angel, an ancestor, or a deity, a witch places themselves in a position to engage these non-human intelligences, to learn the deeper magical secrets of nature. But of all the spirits a with whom a witch may choose to work, none are as deeply ...

My Introduction to Reiki
My first introduction to Reiki was in the form of a discussion with one of my first spiritual teachers back in the late 1980’s. She explained to me how healing energy was channeled through the hands of the practitioner and into the recipient, adding that it “could do no harm”. I was fascinated by the knowledge that the energy was passed by way of a controlled metaphysical experience in which specific symb...

The Witches’ Tree
And, lo! There grows a faery tree,
where do four roads and powers meet
And on it many roses bloom
With starlight; a myriad of hues
Into its secrets we are drawn
By midnight, sunset, noon, and dawn
And the mysteries of the deep
Well of stars where the Old Ones sleep
And dream of future things now past
To draw together the small and vast.
And thus conjoined; two flames in one
The witches’ fire has now been won.
I have been practicing some form of witch...

A Mirror Reversing
(2nd verse to be written backwards and reflected in a mirror)
Turned, the words within the mirror
Shall turn my image to make me dearer
I speak the words to make them clearer
And draw successes ever nearer:
Reflect, reverse, revise, rename
Rescind, retrace, return, reframe,
Repair, reset, recast, regain,
Recoup, rewind, revere, relate.

The Rise of the Warlock
For practitioners of Witchcraft stemming from Gardner’s Wicca, warlock1 is a dirty word. There seems to be no a shortage of practitioners who will loudly “inform” those of us who identify as warlocks, that it is an insult, meaning “oath-breaker” and especially the breaker of an oath one has made to their coven. Never mind that this isn’t actually true.
Warlock used to mean “one who breaks an oath” (a charge first leveled in the 14th century by Christian authorities, so...

A Healing Dream
To you now a healing dream,
To sit beside a tranquil pool
Beneath the shade of faery tree
That sings to you a faery song
That eases pain and lulls the mind
That knits the bones and staunches blood
That bolsters strength and life combined
And so now healed, by thought and word.

To Bring Stability
Sense of balance torn asunder
Spinning ground that moves from under
feet now firm we right this wrong:
On still ground stand, both sure and strong.
