Yuck - Disgusting eBooks I've helped to sell

I learnt today that my Amazon Affiliates account has led to the sale of 16 items. This would be good news, were they all titles that I wished to be affiliated with. Alas, some are not.

One title that disgusts me is Daddy's Little Virgin. Here's a description:

"Ever since her mother died, eighteen-year-old Vanessa has lived a sheltered life. Home schooled by her stepfather, Connor, she's now preparing to head off to college, but before that happens she must endure one final lesson - how to take ...

I've reviewed In the Blood

Today I reviewed In the Blood, which is my favourite of the Kindle books I've read so far.

On Amazon it's listed as "In the Blood (A Genealogical Crime Mystery)" but there's really no need for Steve Robinson to market it to a niche. With or without an interest in genealogy, it's a great mystery drama. It deserves to be a mainstream book and hopefully now that it's been released as a paperback it will become a household name.

The Selfish Act - A Response to Jeremy Clarkson

According to Sir Jeremy Clarkson, it is so selfish to commit suicide on a railway line, that victims deserve to have their bodies eaten by animals. Admittedly, Clarkson likes saying things for shock value, but the fact remains that an astonishing number of people genuinely believe that this method of suicide, or indeed suicide on general, is selfish.

To hold such intolerant beliefs requires a total misunderstanding of the experience of mental illness.

"In most Western countries, close to 90...

Interview with Toni James - Author of The Lost Resort

I've been fortunate enough to get the chance to interview the writer of lesbian indie fiction, The Lost Resort. Here's what she has to say about her writing, indie publishing and queer fiction.

1. Tell us a little about The Lost Resort.

I started writing The Lost Resort about five years ago. It's a fairly straightforward tale about a woman who, having found her partner is cheating, decides to sell up and go travelling in Greece with her sister. Whilst there, she discovers The Lost Resort- an...

How to make a Kindle cover from a Paperblank Book

With the Amazon Kindle covers taking so long to come in stock, I turned to making my own cover for my Kindle 4. It's made from a beautiful Paperblank book with the pages removed.

Here's how it's done.

1. Buy a Paperblank notebook just larger than your Kindle. There are a variety of beautiful covers to choose from.

2. Cut out the back pages using a craft knife. Leave 8 leafs remaining.

3. Cut a black piece of card just large enough to line the back cover and one page of your case.

4. Take two 6cm p...
