Caffeinated Confessions #1
"Liverpool fan?"
"No. I don’t watch football."
I know where the question came from. It was the Liverpool keychain I have.
It’s not that I don’t watch football. It’s that I don’t watch football anymore.
I used to watch football. Hell, I used to go to the Shah Alam stadium every week back when I was 14. It’s just that like almost everything else in my life, I got bored by it eventually.
It’s not just football. And it’s not that I was kinda watch those sports here and there. I was passionate. I had a picture of a 12 years old me with a smiling Randy Mamola and a wheelchair-bound Wayne Rainey. I had some Chicago Bulls trading cards.
But after a certain period of time, I just kind of…stop watching.
"So what kind of sports do you follow?"
"If you consider it a sport, then pro wrestling."
I started watching pro wrestling before I even learn how to speak and I’m still watching it until this day.
And I still couldn’t figure out why.

Rape Escape
Easy and very effective
Requires nothing but your body
Includes attack
Very useful to know, pass and share please.
Worth watching
I don’t mean to impose a personal favour on you guys, but I really would like to ask that everyone who follows me reblog this.
I don’t think I made it very clear but last month I was sexually assaulted by someone who I thought was my friend (I don’t want to talk about it don’t ask), and it’s… really fucked with my head.
Had I known this a month ago I would have been able to get away.
So, essentially, I’m really pleading with you to reblog this so everyone who follows you doesn’t get stuck in the same position I was with no way out.
I mean again I don’t want the point of this to be my sob story or whatever but if you could reblog this it would seriously mean a lot
Every woman should watch this.
That said, watching this was really upsetting. Whenever I’ve seen a rape or assault portrayed in a movie, unless it’s unusually graphic, I’ve typically been able to accept that it’s fictional and focus on how the act will impact the story. I know that no one was hurt and that I am seeing a fictional representation of horrific acts used to propel a story forward. I understand this is not the same for everyone, especially rape victims, but I am just trying to provide some context for my personal experiences, or lack there of.
This demonstration shook me a lot more than any fictionalized sexual assault I’ve ever been exposed to in TV or movies. When the instructor slowly and without emotion described and performed the steps of a rape, when he said things like, “This is the typical position,” and mounted his “victim,” I started to tear up. Without the distraction of a Hollywood story, or a soundtrack or any preconceived notions about either of the “characters,” when he just takes her through the “moves” one by one, the brutality of the act is all that’s left.
I really hated watching this, and I hope you hate it to. But, I really hope you do watch it. Especially if you are a woman. I hope you watch it a few times and practice the escape and counter-attack techniques with a partner. I would rather everyone in the world be made uncomfortable by having to think about rape during an 8 minute video, if it meant one woman was able to use these techniques to escape an attacker.

Handy advice by writers. As part of their “Shared Worlds 2013”, Wofford college asked Neil Gaiman, Garth Nix, Lev Grossman,Joe Haldeman, and more artists, editors, and writers for a photo of their writing advice written on their hands. Check out the rest.

Mine would say “stop masturbating with your other hand and write something”

Are you a leader or a follower? (Personally, I aspire to be the kid who points out that the emperor has no clothes on, but what about you?)
I’m an author. We don’t want to lead. We don’t need to follow. We stay home and make stuff up and write it down and send it out into the world, and get inside people’s heads. Perhaps we change the world and perhaps we don’t. We never know. We just make stuff up.
