Netflix Preferences of America’s Top Artists
What do America’s most creative and talented artists watch on Netflix?
I recently spent a week at an artist colony peopled by some of our finest writers, dancers, choreographers, sculptors and painters. There was a single Netflix account for all of the artists’ residences, so by checking the “recently viewed” list, I found the answer.
So what are you expecting? Foreign art films with subtitles? Sundance and Cannes winners? Nope.
It was mostly campy horror flix with titles like “Frankenstein’s Army,” “Zombie Apocalypse,” “Sharknado,” “Infected,” “Berlin Undead,” “Godzilla’s Revenge,” and “Leprechan.” There was also quite a bit of standup comedy from the likes of Jim Norton, Bill Burr, and the Sklar Brothers.
For some reason, I find this comforting.

The Final Moe Prager Novel By Reed Farrel Coleman: A Review
Reed Farrel Coleman says “The Hollow Girl” is his “final Moe Prager mystery, and the ending does make it appear that Moe has given up sleuthing for good. If so, the novel is a fitting conclusion to this intelligent, literary series by a fine writer who has made his reputation both as a mystery writer and a poet.

My Review Of The New Conway Sax Novel by Steve Ulfelder
Steve Ulfelder’s series of thrillers featuring former race car driver Conway Sax is darned good. In fact, the latest book in the series, Wolverine Bros. Freight & Storage, solidifies Ulfelder’s place as one of the finest crime novelists to come out of Massachusetts since Dennis Lehane.
You can read my full Associated Press review of the book here.
